If you slow-mo at 2:32 you can see the effect of Vettel pulling across, Lewis first looses downforce on the left so it pulls to the right, and the other way around. You can even hear the engine revving higher the splitsecond he´s directly behind Vettel
*Lewis didn't lose any downforce.* He _gained_ downforce. Why? Well, when there's a car behind you in a close range, it pushes the high pressure air forward - in the gap between the two cars. This causes less drag on the car in front, as the _pressure difference_ between the air in front and the back isn't that high. When Vettel went past him, the pressure of the air behind Lewis decreased, causing him to run into more air, decreasing his speed.
I think there is no doubt that the Halo saved Leclerc. If you whatch the scene at 2:03 in 0.25 speed you can clearly see that Alonso's front suspension collapsed because of the Halo and that the front left wheel was going straight in the direction of Leclerc's head. So thank you very much Halo and the people who developed this systeme! BTW: I think the Halo lookes cool. but thats only my honest opinion.
I think that especially the Sauber looks very cool with the Halo. I don't know why but from the side the Halo gives the car a very aggressiv and muscular look.

What Ferrari did with Kimi during qualy and then race showed their reality. When Kimi said in radio there was also a problem in the rear apart from blown Tyre Ferrari just sent him out without even checking what he said

You think that was deliberate in qualy? The weather is notoriously hard to predict at Spa, Ferrari split their strategy so they would get the best lap no matter the conditions. One car out ASAP in case the rain got worse (Kimi) the other waiting and fueled long if the track improved (Seb). Kimi lost out this time on another day it could've been Seb. In the race it's either live with the damage or retire the car, Red Bull's turn around on Dani Ric's rear wing was amazingly quick but still not enough in the end. They would've checked it and probably realised there wasn't much they could do in a short amount of time

The first few angles I saw it looked like it would have gone in front of the cockpit... then I saw Hartley's onboard and I'm pretty convinced that would have been a serious injury at best. I've been in favor of the halo from the start, people made it WAY too big of an issue, but now we have pretty solid proof that it works. Even if he wouldn't have been hit there, it's not worth finding that out just to make the cars look objectively better.
Eric Dev the reason lots of people including myself aren't a fan of the halo is because it's something that's not normally there on f1 car and it's showing that there's too much safety trying to be implemented into f1. we all know it's a dangerous sport and the halo might have saved some lifes in the past, but would these racers who died have raced with these mods to the car? we'll never know but they are a different generation of racers. the danger and open cockpit has always been a defining part of f1. if you feel your safety is at risk then my advise would be not to do that. I'm more accepting of it now it's been around for a while but can't help but think it's part of f1 potentially going backwards with restrictions and future rule changes. and I do hope that drivers lives are saved by this. but only takes 1 strange accident where a driver struggles to escape the car or a somewhat large object gets through the gap and stops the driver moving it to see around it and could cause an accident. why opinion on the halo is if it was so important to f1, it would have been on the cars a long time ago

Funny how Lewis didn't moan about the Force Indias blazing past him in the powerful slipstream either. Becuase that is mainly what got the Ferrari past. Vettel placed himself at a perfect distance going into eau rouge, that enabled the slingshot. You think that was deliberate in qualy? The weather is notoriously hard to predict at Spa, Ferrari split their strategy so they would get the best lap no matter the conditions. One car out ASAP in case the rain got worse (Kimi) the other waiting and fueled long if the track improved (Seb). Kimi lost out this time on another day it could've been Seb.
In the race it's either live with the damage or retire the car, Red Bull's turn around on Dani Ric's rear wing was amazingly quick but still not enough in the end. They would've checked it and probably realised there wasn't much they could do in a short amount of time

The first few angles I saw it looked like it would have gone in front of the cockpit... then I saw Hartley's onboard and I'm pretty convinced that would have been a serious injury at best. I've been in favor of the halo from the start, people made it WAY too big of an issue, but now we have pretty solid proof that it works. Even if he wouldn't have been hit there, it's not worth finding that out just to make the cars look objectively better.
Eric Dev the reason lots of people including myself aren't a fan of the halo is because it's something that's not normally there on f1 car and it's showing that there's too much safety trying to be implemented into f1. we all know it's a dangerous sport and the halo might have saved some lifes in the past, but would these racers who died have raced with these mods to the car? we'll never know but they are a different generation of racers. the danger and open cockpit has always been a defining part of f1. if you feel your safety is at risk then my advise would be not to do that. I'm more accepting of it now it's been around for a while but can't help but think it's part of f1 potentially going backwards with restrictions and future rule changes. and I do hope that drivers lives are saved by this. but only takes 1 strange accident where a driver struggles to escape the car or a somewhat large object gets through the gap and stops the driver moving it to see around it and could cause an accident. why opinion on the halo is if it was so important to f1, it would have been on the cars a long time ago

paul111287 Yeah yeah, because everyone likes the risk of their driver finishing with a broken leg, in a ball of fire, in the sea, crashed by his own car, thrown out of the car or even decapitated by an armco... safety is extremely important, you never know what could happen, infact a marshal in Canada almost 10 years ago died because instead of thinking properly he decided to pick up his device with the tele-handler moving and no one watching what he was doing, or the marshal itself didn't think about signaling to the tele-handler operator to stop the machine fir few seconds.
When talking about safety prevent the impossible, if something happens you might not end up with a sanction.

Imagine Niki Lauda with a Halo in 1976 on the Ring. He would've died in the flames. Many drivers could die with the halo when upside down and they can't be taken out of the car easily you dumbass. These kind of accidents are rare and before that beach flipflop we had plenty of crashes where the drivers were okay like ALonso-Guitierrez in Australia 2016.

Funny how Lewis didn't moan about the Force Indias blazing past him in the powerful slipstream either. Becuase that is mainly what got the Ferrari past. Vettel placed himself at a perfect distance going into eau rouge, that enabled the slingshot. Lewis and the Force Indias utilise Vettels slipstream to pull up alongside before the ran out of straight.
