    Guess my favorite part of this episode was just seeing how you can "read" the river and know which channel to go down even if you may not be certain. Your extensive canoeing experience really shows. Great series!!

    Wow. That braided section with constant “no oops” spots would be mentally exhausting. Amazing to see how you were able to cover so much distance regardless.

    Jim has taught me several things that I should have thought of, but have not. Make sure you watch all his videos. He is the most knowledgeable wilderness traveling man that I have watched. But, canoeing is the most important thing to watch

  • @screamindemon811
    @screamindemon811 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    Quite the views on the river for sure, you can definitely say you got to soak up a lot of great scenery on the trip and in this episode that is no exception. Amazing how the various little channels were moving you along and the different obstacles you faced in them from whirlpools, to floating debris, to stands of trees that had high flow water in or around it... and the trying to dodge not getting pocked in the face or eye by a massive tree sticking out or branches and trying to navigate as you were getting dictated by flow. as to where you were being pushed I am sure had the old heart beat up for sure.
    I can only imagine the footage that didn't make it in, because what has has ben pretty spectacular so far in the beauty of the scenery of the Yukon and what you have captured on this trip, and to think there is so much beauty in this country to explore, your doing a good job of showcasing it for these that dont realise what hidden gems there are here, your adventure videos are living proof.
    I know you did your The Ultimate Bug-Out Kit video a while back but have you ever given any thought to put together a video of some of the gear you consider a must ( or your favorites ) have that you use for these trips and your backpacking adventures? We have all see you use your fold up saw, the old Eureka Tent ( which is absent from this trip.. and it has been on so many ) a new tent... your favorite wet suit ( also on many a canoe adventure ) the trust food barrel ( I always wondered if you made your own back pack harness for it or did you buy one for it or did that come with it. How much food does your barrel hold? Where you got your detailed maps from ( I know you said the folks owned a map company... I think? ) It would be great to do a favorite gear breakdown for us ( good sponsor plug too eh...lol...) your thoughts on must have what, you find works well for you, how it has held up.. why you chose this or that... Just a thought
    Look forward to the next update in the series... but sad to see it coming to a close...its been awesome

    I haven't seen it yet Jim, but I was bragging about this great Canadian Kid at work the other day and I have quite an audience. I am going to watch it now. I'm close to 60 Jim, and just love your videos. I am so darn proud to be Canadian. You have both my respect and admiration for the extraordinary strength of character that kind of bravery demands. I may never have met you, but I see you and love you. Your brother has the most beautiful canoe stroke I have ever seen. But, I just watch your videos.

    My favorite part is when you finally get to camp after a long day of paddling. I like it when you cook, but I can understand the tins of mussels being convenient and easy when you're exhausted. Doesn't seem like enough to eat tho, after all that paddling. I never tried the mussels, but I really like the tins of smoked oysters. I always marvel at how you find your way thru all those channels. I'd be lost forever. They'd find my canoe washed up on some shore. Great video. The scenery is always amazing. Glad you had good weather, aside from the strong wind.

    Have been enjoying this series Jim, by golly you cover some impressive distances and push at it hard core. I have particularly enjoyed those moments when you are able to relax and describe the magic of the places that you are in. Seems a major pity you couldn’t have a few more days on the trip to explore and really take in the surroundings. Many thanks for the clear effort you put in to both make the journey and also film it.
