    I only just discovered your channel yesterday and was watching your job vlogs, and when I watched this video I realized we’re at the same campus! I’m only a freshman in undergrad but seeing the kind of stuff I may be able to do after I graduate like what you’re doing is really inspiring (:

    Hi Duha 😊 - Congratulations on the new apartment, being back at school and in the lab! 🎊🎉
    This is a lot of change all at once which can be amazing and exciting yet challenging and overwhelming at the same time. I hope that you can take the time that you need to adjust and to look after yourself in the process.
    Stay safe and well 💖👑

    Dear Duha..I loved your vlog💕I clicked so fast the moment I saw your thumbnail. Also thank you for all your contents. I love how you incorporate healthy family and work balance. Moreover, it's rare to find contents consisting of a research background so..yeah..you and your videos are truly inspiring 💕

    hi, my name is Beatriz and I also do Biomedical Science in Brazil, your videos are very inspiring, encouraging to study and go in search of what I desire. I intend to do PhD in the United States, too and your videos help me a lot learn the english language more and also the academic vocabulary.
    please don't stop posting videos, you inspire a lot of people, today I took initiative to share for you, but there are many people who are inspired but prefer to remain anonymous.

    Very cool congrats on starting the PhD journey!
    I stumbled upon your "A week in the life of a research scientist" video. Were you a staff research associate or similar type of position in an academic lab setting? Or was it as an undergraduate research assistant?
    I am just about to finish up my PhD in March in the same field and have been considering a non-traditional staff appointment.

    Did you consider grad housing? If so, why didn't you choose that route? I'm just considering where to live myself as an incoming PhD.

    Doesn't the fact that biogenesis is only known to have happened once here on earth "kind of, sort of" provide evidence that life is extremely rare? In this pristine biosphere that is so perfect for life, should we not have multiple unrelated species on earth if life was common elsewhere?

    • @noemitellez3098
      @noemitellez3098 ปีที่แล้ว

      When life first formed, there was little to no competition & thus it thrived . Today , if a new life form were to hypothetically appear , it would have to get past every single hungry thing on earth , starting with the trillions of hungry microorganisms . Even though the elementary molecules can be found out in space , what happened on earth for those molecules to come together and form life happened under very specific conditions ( on a planet not too hot / too cold, atmospheric conditions & location ) . :)

    • @bundyb5343
      @bundyb5343 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@noemitellez3098 Thank you. I admit I have no education, so I'm aware that what I don't know about biology far outweighs what I do know. However, say life formed on an ocean vent, there are thousands of vents, and it only formed on one? shouldn't there be more? If life was common in the universe, wouldn't it be common here, but it's rare here it only happened once.

    • @noemitellez3098
      @noemitellez3098 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@bundyb5343 the Miller - Urey experiment (there are some fascinating explanation videos on TH-cam) found that amino acids (a necessary protein for life forms) can be made in controlled conditions . Building blocks for life may not have formed in a single vent , but in many vents in a specific area/areas that had the perfect conditions for them to form ! It could have been happening all over earth . Maybe multiple simple life forms were forming & our first common ancestor might have been the only to survive . It’s only happened once *as far as we know* :)

    She has 20 hours of labwork and three lectures and she forgets to sleep? I work 35-40 hours in the lab, attend two lectures, do lab demonstrations, at least spend 20 hours for extra reading and do my weekend part time job for 20 hours. Still i never missed my daily 6 hour sleep 😅
