    “If you’re target focused you perceive your shooting to be worse than if your dot focused.” - I feel like this is a lightbulb moment for me. I always perceive my shooting to be worse than it actually is when target focused.

      I remember a few months ago I almost went home mid competition just to check the results the following morning and found out I won. Lol
      He's definitely right

      @@Auggie_93 That's awesome! Congrats man. Target focus is definitely a tricky thing to master.

    This is an excellent example of covert versus overt attention... But how could this be possible without twenty full time ocular scientists?!

    I have noticed recently that my shots don't really drop low anymore even in really aggressive strings of fire . Now I'm wrestling with staying connected to the target or my shots will sail up im letting my focus jump to the dot but I have to say these videos have taught me how to recognize when it happens and I know that is why it happens

    Lmao I literally had that moment of “god that was shitty but I felt target focused.. oh all alphas wtf?” Tonight. And now I’m here.

    If you clap right after you ask your video guy if he's ready, It’ll make audio sync super easy. Not complaining. Love the videos.

    I've been doing the wiggle thing in dry fire for awhile now. It makes me feel good to hear you say that, like my heads in the right spot.

    Its a slow grind at my age transitioning from irons to optics. I have a severe dry eye condition that aint helping. Video's like this one help get my head right to maximize both my dry fire and range time.

    Thanks Ben! Could you please speak to the benefits--or lack thereof--of longer slides vs. shorter slides on pistols with optics? Do you find any difference in terms of handling, or speed of the dot returning back into your target focus after the shot breaks? Should this be any consideration at all in selecting a competition gun? Thank you.

      It adds more weight and that helps with recoil. More steel absorbs the shock.

    How do I simulate dry fire where my 25yd targets look like I'm shooting a 40 cal shotgun? No, switching to 9mm doesn't help. 😧

    • @nathanjames329
      @nathanjames329 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Is that the result you get in slow fire or what?

    • @notyou2935
      @notyou2935 6 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@nathanjames329 Was kinda joking. I had quit shooting for quite some time and when I came back to it that's what my 20yd targets looked like. Today at 25 yds in slow fire with iron sights I can probably shoot a 5-6" group. At speed or in transition in a match, it's entirely possible I'll miss the whole damn target. Anything past about 18 yds I have to slow everything way down. I've always been target focused, because I'm near-sighted with contacts, my sights are always a bit blurry. :)

    Thanks Ben. In the process of transitioning to target focus but with Irons. Very helpful. 🫡
