    That 4 hour detention start is popping up more and more. That information should have been in your ratecon. By accepting the load you accepted the terms. We have to band together and refuse these loads.
    If Broker's screw us drivers over, start filing claims against their bond. It takes a while, but it is better than nothing.

    I’m surprised you didn’t know this factoid (detention) before you booked the load. May this be a learning experience 😊

    I always tell brokers (I do lowboy) that if they’re not going to pay detention then it’s getting offloaded right where I’m parked and I’ll out the machine in the middle of the road

    Know your worth! Tell the broker the detention rate is $100.00 per hour after the 1st hour. Take it or leave it. Trucks are expensive.

    The trucking industry as a whole, needs to be overhauled. Today, if you make enough $$$$$ to break even, you are doing good

  • @withbothfeet8593
    @withbothfeet8593 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Sorry, you need to know these details when you book the load. It will be written on your rate con or carrier agreement, which was signed by the carrier. That is part of trucking. It seems like the flatbed/stepdeck/RGN side of trucking have less of this problem than the van/refer side. These kinds of delays happen frequently in the van/refer world.

    Yeah, I always verify on construction loads the tension pay. There's a high chance of workers not showing up, equipment down, and as you experienced, separate crews needed first. And be firm, it's customary to pay after 2hrs. And that's $150.-$250 period. Still doesn't replace a day though. 😖🥴

  • @amogrows
    @amogrows ปีที่แล้ว +6

    Shouldn't you have known about the 4 hour / $50 before you committed to the load? That way you could tell them to suck it in advance.

    Driver. Whenever you fill out your packet, you need to add a addendum sheet in with your ass sorrel’s attached. That lets them know in advance how much you charge for detention, layover pay and any other fees that you may have to deliver this load.

  • @allenwinder6266
    @allenwinder6266 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I have a novel Idea: Before you take any load find out what the detention rate is going to be and if you don`t like the terms don`t take the load. Is that simple or too complicated?

    $75 DOLLARS ..You accepted the load, not sure about minimum on a hypothetical situation or laws in your country, but if that's the case think you might have to do your own due diligence. Ask the questions if you are able to avoid those situations..Don't forget about all the other stuff you do for free, fueling, pre/post trip, strapping, waiting traffic jams, ect...besides liading/unloading if you get paid by the mile

  • @D_in_DC

    You shouldn't just casually accept their bullcrap! Look at the detailed terms before accepting the load. Truck drivers get screwed because other drivers accept BS. Next thing you know, that BS becomes the norm.

    2 hours should be plenty of time. What if you drove all night? You would be out of hours. Your truck would need to sit in construction zone for 10 hours…. (Ok joking but think how they would react)
