- 2018: Our first visit to Poots cactus nursery in Manteca, California. THIS PLACE IS AMAZING and they are very nice. We show what we bought at the end of the video.

Wow, Poots is a really great nursery. I really love how they’ve planted and managed to make all the cacti come together to make them look even more beautiful. We all wish to have a garden like that, I’m sure. The other videos that I’ve watched mostly showed the inside and what they sold so I’m pleased you showed more of the outside. A big thumbs up 👍 for that! 👏👏😍😍

I think that is the flying saucer cactus. ^^ I do not have one.... yet …. ^^
Maybe a Trichocereus hybrid...

Wonderful ! Hank doesn't seem to be an Opuntia man though. I hardly saw any. I really enjoyed your last shot of the flowering Astrophytum Capricorne !

I had really bad luck with Optuna, at first. Mealy bugs really got a hold on them. Eventually, I managed to grow 2 healthy, one in a pot and one in the ground. In the move to Oregon, I was able to bring one rooted paddle... so there is always hope for more. ^^ The Astro is just getting ready to flower again ^^ Hope your day is really good.
@@hankscactus3973 Yes; it's good. We have a heat wave, ironically. By the way, my favorite cactus soil is...
1/4 coarse crushed builder's sand, 1/4 peat moss for softness, porosity, and root breathing, 1/4 crushed limestone (fine crushed run), for minerals and Ph, 1/4 richest, richest humus possible, for nutrition. They loved that, especially in a superelevated, raised bed above the normal soil level. The soil was soft and fluffy; very easy for the roots to explore.
