    My friend used to ask why my laps and lines were so tidy even with assists off. After watching this I know why, It makes sense but I never knew I did these techniques. the 70% Braking thing, but one thing I don't do all the time is 50% throttle out of corners, I just stay in a higher gear and floor it and feather if needed. This gets my like!

      don’t forget to start at the back with a car that has amazing acceleration! :D allows you to collect every car possible in your carnage!

  • @Straws92
    @Straws92 6 ปีที่แล้ว +4

    My tips:
    On both braking and acceleration (but especially braking) You can feel the controller begin to rumble when your wheels are about to lock-up/spin. Holding the brakes right at the edge of that is helpful.
    On acceleration it helps too but I haven't mastered it yet. Best advice for now is to 'tap' the accelerator in corners to maintain speed until the wheels no longer spin.

    I went from TSC, ABS and automatic gears. Took them off one by one over three days, took another couple of days to not have to think about it too much but amazed at how quickly it becomes muscle memory.
    I was determined to get them off before I became too used to driving with them.

    I have been an online sim racer for many years and I used to follow you a year or two ago when I was playing Forza 6 regularly and really learned a lot from you. In the past I had ran with the Sierra / Papyrus series of racing sims as well as iRacing, and Forza 6. I just wanted to say thank you for sharing what you know and I am currently in the process of upgrading to an xbox one x and getting Forza 7. I hope to watch the videos you have posted since I last followed you and get back up to speed with where I left off in Forza 6. Thanks again and be well

    My tips on how to get fast at Forza.
    1. Manual w/ clutch is a must (unless it's high level race cars with really good transmissions)
    2. ALWAYS drive clean, even if you get rammed. If you always practice the track and clean passing correctly then that extra bit of proper driving will accumulate and accelerate your improvement immensely, revenge may be nice but rammers are bad players anyway so don't waste your time
    3. Avoid driving leaderboards, these cars imo are just ridiculous good and you can't really establish a good feel for the physics if you constantly drive these, you have to switch it up because every car is a bit different and require different skills in order to avoid accidents, brake, corner, etc
    4. Follow the fast guy, if you see the guy that's been winning a lot of races or finishing top 3 consistently check out his movement such as when he brakes, turns into a corner, and whatnot. I find that I may be able to beat someone from ERS every once in a while but I could be slower if I'm in the lead, if they're right in front of me however I end up driving like a madman and get times faster than what I post on the leaderboard, this situation ends up being a great learning experience.
    5. GET FRIENDS, whenever you join a lobby check out the names and try to pick out people you always see drive clean and send em a message, a lot of people in the game are cool and will drive with you in private lobbies, you will help each other get better via practice and by giving each other pointers

    Turn in, apex and track out. Some say in slow out fast. Brake last, come first : )
    I find if I can manage mini straights were possible it will give me faster lap times.
    It's hard with a game controller but smooth = fast. This works for me on the race track and Fondza

    Is it just me or would it not be a good idea for forza to pin tutorial videos like this on the home screen of the game itself like battlefield do with levelcap videos of even implement a tutorial in game to help new players get a good idea how to play the game and only let players play in ranked lobbies until they reach a certain level like rainbow six seige do. This would really help noobs get used to the game and make lobbies alot more competitive. Just a thought.

  • @MN-jt6vi
    @MN-jt6vi 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Great video! I gotta say the elite controller with the elongated left thumb stick attached gives you a bit more steering range and precision. The vibration from the gas and brake triggers are a bit better too. Also layout 7, switch gear up and down is pretty great. Clutch is Y and shift up is LB and shift down is RB. It seems weird at first to shift up on the left side of a controller but it is easier than trying to feather the brake while downshifting with fingers from the same hand. A few pros use that setup.

    I owned forza 4 and 5. played with assists on, beat the games campaigns, never raced online. Raced Forza 6, beat the campaigns with assists on. went online. learned to race with abs off first, then stm off, then i learned manual in about 3 hours. manual w/ clutch about 2 weeks later. TCS is a whole nother beast though. I'm at about 2 or 3 months of trying to teach myself throttle control without tcs. Its NOT easy. It's helped being with my teammates, racing with them, learning how to drive cars, how to race better, and how to not slide cars on exit.
    EDIT: After completely finishing the video, i'd like to add that Joining AMR has been the best thing i have done in Forza. I have gained incredible knowledge in how to drive in forza because of their knowledge. Plus, they have become some very good friends of mine. Best decision i have ever made in my forza career

      The problem is you are probably using a controller. You can get fast with a controller, but its impossible to be consistent. Getting the throttle right is the most difficult in Forza because it does basically all of the steering for you, but only half of the throttle.

    I taught myself how to do manual gears, abs, and tcs off all at once lapping over and over again on watkins glen full circuit a year or two ago. Its probably why its still my best track. Generally in a full lobby I'm usually top 10 type player (think im in the elite division still) but on watkins glen, no matter what cars are in the lobby, I'm usually in the top 3. I found the cambered corners and good mix of turns really helped me learn how to play without the assists.

  • @quirkypurple

    I play only with TCM and I play M/WC. I recently took off only breaking after watching your videos Super GT. It just love it visually with out the break line. I'm not driving, I'm not learning with the break line. It's hard without assists but more fun and I usually finish somewhere mid to low in races. So out of 12 racers I may come 7th-10th. It's pretty poor but I'm new to online and it's my first time driving A class cars. I would have liked to play D and C class then progressed up to B and A. It's a lot of fun, I'm trying to play clean but I still make mistakes and still wipeout.
    If anyone is thinking about Manaul with Clutch. Go for it. It actually doesn't take long to learn. I know it may seem counter-intuitive going form automatic to manual and it doesn't work out immediately. Spend time going around a track and you'll get it in no time. Once you learn it, it becomes second nature and then it's sooooo much more fun. It really feels like you are driving.
    Great advice for assists. Knock one off at a time works. You can do it in a couple of weeks.

    Funny thing is Gran Turismo games teach you this stuff before you start out in your career mode but Forza skips that part and as a result you get a bunch of kids who have no basics of how to behave out on the track just sliding all over the place and crashing into other players. I would like Turn 10 to implement some sort of a driving skill career into their games to give you the basic training tips. Plus you win free cars for doing it too which makes career mode even easier later on because you don't have to spend money on cars to enter specific races.

    I'm not sure if he mentioned or not but ABS, TC and SC all vary massively from car to car. So Super GT saying you should use 50% of throttle on corner exits is just a rough guide. Also, if you're serious about the game, I would opt to turn everything off, including the racing line. Just because you don't learn how to drive with it on. You can only get to a certain level. Plus Forza racing lines aren't always correct. Some cars are better taking different lines.
    Trust me, take everything off and learn the hard way. It's way more rewarding learning a track from scratch instead of using the racing line.

      In my years (beginning with Forza 1), I eventually cycled through all views as needed to FEEL THE CAR. In some moments or moods or when your mental data is lacking - you'll choose which view you need or want.
      Personally, I use the 3rd person high camera to see upcoming track and traffic events and most inportantly what my car is doing (shifting with weight transfer or angle when attempting a drift etc.)
      I do the same with other settings like sound (I'll occassionally turn sound off to get higher perception of the visual cues) and vibration function where applicable (depriving vibration cue input to brain heightens sight and sound).
      Simple psychology applied.
      Eventualy you will ascend and find what assists (if any you need), what view gives you your best performance, what game settings you benefit most from etc.
      Everyone is different. Enjoying yourself is the most important tool; if you enjoy yourself you will learn more but I won't go into why.

    Probably not gonna get a reply to this but how much of a difference does abs off make? I never fully mash the brake and usually do about 70 percent but with abs on. One thing I have to do is manual with clutch. Depending on the caf class I can completely dominate everyone else in the race or just end up in the midfield unable to catch up even though I maintain consistent lines etc. Sometimes the other players seem to just fly past me somehow when other times I easily beat the field (I mostly race in legue racing in the elite band currently making my way to pinnacle). I also use stock tunes and maybe only play with aero tuning so thats probably another reason...

    • @theDiReW0lf

      Admiral Ackbar it actually gets you slightly quicker shifting in the game. You have to get the timing right for it to help.

    • @xFlared
      @xFlared 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I never used it so I don't know. I only assume it's slower because you have to do a lot of extra actions like let off the gas, put in the clutch, press gear up, let go off the 2 buttons and then give gas again. Where in regular sequential you can do it without letting off the gas.

      Both wheel and controller can achieve world record lap times on FM6... but for this very reason the controller remains the better/popular choice because most competitive plays don't see the point in spending £££/$$$'s on an accessory that doesn't help them go faster. The game's inputs only have so much sensitivity, making wheel's pretty useless sadly.
      FM7 may turn out differently, but currently a steering wheel just does't provide many competitive benefits, despite being much more fun for a few people that I know.

      John JSR [Japspeed Sim Racing] Thanks mate really appreciate it. I wasnt too sure as i dont play FM6 very often but want to get the hang of racing on it before FM7 comes out. I mostly play Horizon 3 and have got a couple of #1 rival times and a few top 10s. Gt RSR Nathan if u want to check out my clips👍🏼

    So how faster actually is a lap with and without clutch?
    As I understood correctly the clutch makes you faster only in cars that use H pattern right? Or that also goes for cars with sequential gearbox?

    • @Super_GT
      @Super_GT  7 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Diablo_rf In a car that needs it, I would say about 0.5s to a second a lap but it depends on the car and the track.

    I carnt understand the benefit of tuning abs off and using a clutch. Shirley if you got abs on you can outbreak people easier. And what's the point of the clutch as oppose to just manual.

    • @DiscGolfLeagueMVP
      @DiscGolfLeagueMVP 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      ABS makes you brake at about 60% if I remember correctly, which isn't as effective. Using a clutch means you can shift gear faster, dependent on the car obviously, but most cars benefit from the clutch.

    • @animaltvi9515
      @animaltvi9515 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      But then I could brake harder and later.

    • @romancarp6427

      In the game it is possible to change gears faster with clutch on all cars other than those with a sequential gearbox

    • @1AOR1
      @1AOR1 7 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Animal tvi you have to be joking? It is unbelievable how much later you can break without ABS! And using the clutch changes the gears so much faster and you also get an extra boost of speed using it! If you're slower with the clutch on and ABS on you're obviously terrible no offence

    • @animaltvi9515
      @animaltvi9515 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Andy onabuzz no offence taken .Just don't get it. Without abs is so much slower maybe it is just me . But don't get it if you break later it just locks up . Each to there own I suppose. Ps I'm not terrible. Just not that good.

    I haven’t watch the whole thing and I’m sure you’re still a really good racer but you don’t downshift out of turns, your in third at low RPM, you could really take off out of them if you downshift. I use no assists with manual and clutch. Sometimes just manual.

    • @Super_GT
      @Super_GT  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Isn't there a setting that you can set so when you mash the left trigger it won't pass 70% of braking? That would be so much easier.

    • @TheRealD4
      @TheRealD4 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      ...but that would defeat the point of having an ABS ON setting!!

    • @TheRealD4

    I've never used any controller ever. With keyboard i cannot play this game as pressing throttle and braking simply applies %100 every time. Does a controller's upper buttons really allows you to throttle or brake as percentage wise? If so i'm gonna run and buy one. I thought only analogs allow that and thought it was impossible to achieve

    • @Dankyderp420
      @Dankyderp420 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Controller's use triggers for the gas and brake, so yes it's percentage instead of binary

    I wonder if I was given the chance to prove my driving skills years ago, how far I could have made it in racing? I'll never know because my chance was Taken From Me by the broken spine I was born with! I could have been one of the best drivers but only got to do courier work until someone hit me at a light making it too painful to drive anymore! Life sucks unless you can live your dreams or at least come close to them. I know because my life sucks and all my dreams of racing do is haunt me. Oh well, that is life... or so I'm told!

    • @mnoell35
      @mnoell35 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      jonaisfun FIFA you have a tachometer in the bottom right corner. Shift before it goes into the red

    • @jonathanmartin5931
      @jonathanmartin5931 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      mnoell35 what about down shifting

    • @mnoell35
      @mnoell35 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      jonaisfun FIFA use the same logic. Any time your revs get into the red the engine is screaming! This is all the engine's power. If you're turning a corner, you could spin out of control. The lower the RPM's the lower engine's power is. You have to learn not to floor it all the time. Also the best way to get really fast is proper gear selection thru corners.
