What an Awesome Hunt! The friendships built and the meals eaten out hunting are memories that last a life time. It is a true blessing to spend time out in Gods Country with Friends and Family which I believe is most important and filling a tag is icing on the cake! Thanks for all you do Hush! I thought the same thing when I was looking into R&K. The time of year and moon phase they were hunting definitely played a huge role in how many mature deer they would see. I presumed R&K would have an older age class to hunt and harvest. Either way it looks like that young man had an awesome hunt and shot a great buck.
I think it's likely that the outfitter was putting their paying customers on the biggest bucks. But that is assuming Hush didn't pay for the hunt. I could be wrong.
Ive hunted this land and that is a good buck for in there. There are certainly are bigger ones, but that is solid for that unit. The thing I enjoyed most about hunting there is the amount of animals we saw. This entire area is known for producing some great numbers and some true giants on occasion, yet is 99% private for miles and miles so that explains that. A lot of memories in this area. We hunted the land on the other side of the road directly north of here for years and years. Always a ton of deer and like I said and we’ve killed a lot of deer of this size. However, also several 190 class bucks over the years and have see or had an opportunity at some real giants in the 200 class. Few and far between in that category, but of course that is true with most any unit when you start talking about anything near or over 200. PS The guys who run this unit (R&K) are some really good guys. Every time we’ve drawn this tag they have been very accommodating to us general guys. That’s saying something when they have guys who are laying big money to hunt in there.
I can personally attest that Kaleb comes from solid stock…his Dad Clint sacrificed his and his family’s hunting time in WY region G to help my brother and I get out of a rough spot when our truck couldn’t make it through the WY clay/mud. Wish I could say the same for R&K…they won’t let my friend and combat disabled veteran have early access to shoot a cow elk even though he is having open heart surgery this month and the cow season is open for his tag…it’s a disgrace to America and the brotherhood of hunting!! Sounds like he might just have one side of the story. I know for a fact R&K does a lot for veterans year in and year out.
