for my wife, just bought a 2020 EX with pearl white paint and black leather interior. Kick ass car. Bought this after owning and still have a Sorrento. Solid cars for the money spent. Great value and best warranty in the market.
I have a 2018 Kia sportage AWD. Bought it with only 30,000 miles on it has almost 60,000 now. Paid 18,000 for it and love it. Bought the AWD because the cabin is hard to get to sometimes especially in bad weather. It has done great out in the hills. So far very pleased. Hope it turns out to be a good car so then I will want to buy another one so far so good.
Joe I just wanted to thank you for bringing us car content each day as we are continuing to self quarantine ourselves until things clear up and by the way Happy belated birthday buddy and to many more years to come. 🙏
Bang on about the low mounted rear turn signals, they’re very easy for other drivers to miss and borderline unsafe. Definitely worth waiting for the new rebuild, especially if you factor in all the new builds we’ve seen from Hyundai / Kia so far! Thanks for all the videos Joe! 🙏
Good to hear that the Sportage is still using a normally aspirated engine with a 6 speed transmission. If you are looking for a new vehicle, I would choose this over some of the other "sillier". Can't beat their warranty!
The Sportage has always been a cute small CUV. It's on the smaller side of compact CUVs. The fuel economy is not so impressive comparing with other CUVs like CR-V, RAV4, Forester etc., I guess that is due to the 6 speed transmission. The cargo space looks really small due to the drooped down rear profile.
Alright guys, a big zonk for me is the low mounting of the signal lights on the back bumper. They should be eye level. Maybe that will be corrected on the new model.
Designed by top Designer from Audi thats why they are low down like Audi SUV's, I have a Sportage myself fully loaded with extras & chromed up and love it but yes dont like the low level indicators.
Believe it or not this car just dropped price due to lockdown and poor sales almost price now like seltos. Great car joe my wife and I love it. Amazing interior exterior
Having just taken a look, it looks like there's savings across most of the board. Sadly everything's still shut down here, but I want to go take a few Kias for a test drive once things re-open....
I would totally recommend this! I just got a 2020 KIA Sportage SX Turbo in February. I love it!! I got it in Snow White Pearl because they’re the ones that are really popular atm. Hey Joe, if you need to you can always borrow mine in Minnesota. 😂
Amazing video .....love kia we have 2 cars and we are searching to buy like 3 more cars and we would like a sportage ....I love ur vids and I hope you do a Kia Optima 2020 video soon
I love my kia..2011..only problem I have is replacing breaks alot...but other then that it hasn't let me down..I think I might have got it stuck once in my driveway in the winter....only because I didnt want to shovel the end of my driveway
I think if you are in the market for a well specced SUV, given that we are in tough times and you can pick this up for a fantasticly low price, then buy now. Otherwise just wait. Great review as always Joe......big up to Tom. Stay safe guys!!
Joe, I love KIA but I'd like to see them move away from the Gloss black interior bits, especially in high traffic areas. This is yet another example from KIA where its models just keep going up and up and up the ladder for quality and looks🔥
Had my 2017 Kia Sportage SX since new with 40K mixed highway and urban driving. I'm shocked at how NOTHING has ever broken or needed repair. Only needed to bring it in to the dealer once for some updated service bulletins that took about an hour. Oh, and the clock had to be reset due to some GPS satellite bug. I'm getting about 23-27mpg average on regular grade fuel. The tires Kumho tires will be needing replacement soon. I am a fanatic about maintenance so oil gets swapped with 100% synthetic every 3K miles without an extra single drop needed. Then at 30K miles I do a major fluid change over. This Kia has been even more reliable than my Toyota Corolla, Supra or Datsun. Only the Honda Civic Si was equally trouble free..
I got a silver 2020 Sportage. Overall, love it. Kia knows how to bring value. Clever design and engineering. If can say one thing that needs improvement is the MPG. I’m getting 26-27 MPG, and I think the car would benefit from going on a diet. The hood and liftgate feel three times as heavy as they need to be, and if the car lost some weight it would improve the gas mileage.
You are such a great reviewer! I feel like I know everything about this vehicle, the pros and cons. I like how you mention certain things that could be an issue without biasedness as well.
I drive a Kia Sportage 2018. Absolutely love it! It’s black cherry in the LX pop package. Again I will say I absolutely love it!!! The drive is comfortable and it looks soooooo cute! I call her “My Little Black beauty!”♥️♥️♥️
Joe, I purchased a 2020 Sportage EX and I was wondering if you’ve heard of constant condensation developing in the the headlights. I’ve had the car for over a week now and I can’t seem to get rid of it. I’ve been to two dealers here in South Florida and they all claim that this is an environmental issue: therefore, they refuse to approve the replacement under warranty. It’s driving me crazy and I also feel it’s a safety hazard.
KIA typically maintains a 5 year cycle for its vehicles' generations. The current generation was redesigned in 2017 so a new model won't be coming along (in the US) until the 2022 model year. Nevertheless, KIA routinely makes a number of improvements within a generation so it's less surprising that the current generation has increased sales year over year in both the 2018 and 2019 model years, an accomplishment that few compact crossovers can claim. Even more impressive is that in the first quarter of 2020 only two compact crossovers increased sales compared to a year earlier. The leader with a 16% increase is the RAV4 largely as a result of its Hybrid version. The other is the KIA Sportage with a 4% increase, a significant accomplishment considering the 14% overall drop in sales for the category as a result of the COVID-19 shutdown in March. The RAV4 Hybrid is a remarkable vehicle in its class but like the KIA Telluride the challenge is to find one on a dealer lot, especially at MSRP. Furthermore, pricing comparably equipped top trim non-hybrid models of the two vehicles produces an MSRP of about $3500 between the lower priced Sportage and the RAV4. Add to that the likelihood of receiving a further discount in the real world from a KIA dealer and the difference is likely to be at least $6000. The Sportage isn't the standout in its class that the Telluride is. It won't be getting the design cues from the Telluride until 2022 as the Sorento gets for the 2021 model. And the new KIA Seltos may steal some sales from the Sportage. (The Seltos actually has more overall cargo capacity than its bigger brother.) But comparing the Sportage to other non-hybrid compact crossovers suggests a vehicle with considerable appeal at a bargain price.
I can’t imagine what they will do with that Sportage: I wonder if it will get a similar theme as the Sorrento will have? Joe your hard work is appreciated! We look forward to seeing your reviews here at my house! Thanks to Tom & Lori and everyone who keeps your operation going. It has to take your time almost 24/7, lol. You & Tom Better save time for a Twinkie and a Slim Jim every now and then! I was wondering if you liked that Audi RS3 better than the BMW with the straight 6 w/turbo. Stay healthy Raiti!
That's a handsome SUV. Looks great coming and going which is very important to me. Exterior and interior design is nice along with the rims. I'd go for the turbo model.
I like the Sportage very much. But it does feel a bit old now. Been out since 2015 here and the all new model is scheduled to debut in December. I'd certainly wait.
@@vc8my Thanks for the link Eric! No, this is not the all new Sportage. Actually, this is the Chinese market refresh. It's the same as the current one except for a few tweaks. According to HMG schedule, the all new Tucson will debut in the summer and the Sportage should be here by December, though both of these dates could be pushed back a little due to this virus.
It's June 18, 2022 and we are looking for a used SUV on the smaller side. Absolutely will put Sportage on our list. Most likely wouldn't look for a pre 2020, sounds like the refresh is a plus. Toyota is my first choice but the Rav might be too big (my husband likes small cars). We are grandparents and want a larger car (I am driving a 2019 corolla hatch which I am in love with). The new Corolla Cross AWD might be the perfect car but in Southern NH/MA there are none to be had. Thank you for the wonderful videos.
Low mounted rear turn signal.. It is a normal reaction of human. People will see that turn signal as soon as it starts blinking.. If you can't see it, then you shouldn't be on the road..
We liked the 2010 KIA classic body design, but did NOT purchase it because our neighbor who is a mechanic said it did NOT have timing CHAINS. We bought a used 2006 Honda CRV instead. The old Corollas just keep going and going, NOT anymore NO more.
Just stumbled across this video and have a question. Where did you get your information about the Sportage coming out in 2002? My first Sportage was a 1997 model with 4-wheel drive, from Springdale, Arkansas. Numbers two was a 2000 4-wheel drive model, also in Arkansas. Number three was a 2000 4-wheel drive model, bought in Texas near Dallas. My current Sportage is a 2011, with over 200,000 miles. Still runs great. I have also had two Sorentos.
I agree. We bought a 2012 TGDI/AWD Sportage, then in 2016 did the same. After seeing the 2021 however, we're going to get a 2020 TGDI/AWD at the end of the year instead.
After watching the Encore GX video I came here to check out this because the Kia dash is one of my faves. You showed there were no rear a/c vents. The high mount vents help get air to the rear just like on this Kia yet the Kia does have the rear vents.
Eric Kia generally makes very attractive vehicles. Just something about the shortage doesn’t do it for me. Glad you like it though! I’m sure a lot of people do.
It’s different and it’s growing on me. Not a fan of the CR-V styling and this Sportage 8 inch display is so much better. Bought a Jeep Cherokee with a small display and every year it looked more outdated.
Just leased a 2021 Sportage EX AWD in silver metallic color love it! Only con not as good on gas as my 2018 Ford Escape was. Mine has the same appearance package as the one youre reviewing even down to the same wheels.
Joe, thanks for the review.. is it worth waiting got the new sportage 2021 or should I go ahead with purchasing the 2020 model. Could you please advise me? Thanks Joe in advance
I leased a 2020 KIA Sportage SX Turbo AWD in late February this year thanks to your reviews. Just hit 397 miles three days ago due to all that hit us in 2020. Absolutely in love with this vehicle with only one exception, every now and then when I am walking past the vehicle in my garage with my key fob in my purse, the panic alarm goes off (the fob is not pressing against anything). Is there a solution to this known issue? BTW, I love your watch and all of your reviews. Thank you!
Gas is cheap right now, but Kia/Hyundai have generally lagged behind in the MPG department. At least the quality and reliability has improved somewhat for the most part.
You're right, on paper was supposed to have improved fuel consumption over the previous model but is slightly worse in my experience. Still reasonable though.
Wait for the redesign, or if you want to save money on this particular model then wait until the new one drops and but the previous gen model at a dropped price.
@@RaitisRides that would rock because I'm eventually getting a military truck and I'm planning on trading in my soul on a sportage because I need a car that can bring me back and forth to and from work because my military truck will just be a weekend driver it may be street legal but it doesn't get good gas mileage so I need a car that can be a good daily driver and a vehicle that me and mom can travel in because her car is burning oil and we need a car that can take us there Kia makes a extremely great product for a wonderful price can't beat that
Nice review, would have enjoyed to see the Kia Sportage SE with the turbo and big bump up in horsepower. We purchased a 2020 Hyundai Tucson because we didn't like the front end of the Kia Sportage and the tail lights on the back which you commented on. Another big draw to the Tucson was more standard safety, lower price, 5 star frontal crash for driver vs 4 for Kia, lower insurance premiums and Hyundai has free complementary service for initial 36 months! Nice job, thanks for sharing.
You do such a good job reviewing these auto's. I actually like the plastic backs of the seats. Lol Neting is a huge no though. Like the cargo storage. Wish the dash had a no slip dish. Vented seats would be good and maybe a home outlet. Over all I like it.
My mom has a 2015 Sportage EX AWD, really really like the previous exterior design over this one. But the newest one definitely is better with the interior than the previous though. Hopefully they update it again in the coming years.
don’t get this car had it for less than a year and now i have to repair a hole in the radiator even my 2008 honda civic didn’t have to get fixed after 10 years.(really loved this car until this happened)
ITALYRS oh goodness urge her not to get that domestic mess they don’t review well. Kia is built Better and supported by a long warranty! If it’s your money just ask her to pick a color and get a Sportage in her garage!
Hi Joe, thanks for the great videos! Can you do a review of the KIA Sportage 2022 SX trim (non-turbo) 2.0 L engine AWD? This is one of the options I'm looking at in Doha, Qatar. There is no turbocharged engine version here. Thanks!

You're right, on paper was supposed to have improved fuel consumption over the previous model but is slightly worse in my experience. Still reasonable though.
you must like cvt's and turbo lag
What’s the behemoth on your wrist today btw?
Will there be a hybrid option for 2021? Will ventilated seats also be available with the 2021 model?
Good question.
Probably 2022.
Wait for the redesign, or if you want to save money on this particular model then wait until the new one drops and but the previous gen model at a dropped price.
So very true!
Liked your Sportage video, but I hope and pray that you do the sx turbo....please....
Hey Joe can you do a review on the sportage sx turbo with a test ride it does have ventalted seats I've heard it's very sporty
I will get that together for you Kirby!
@@RaitisRides that would rock because I'm eventually getting a military truck and I'm planning on trading in my soul on a sportage because I need a car that can bring me back and forth to and from work because my military truck will just be a weekend driver it may be street legal but it doesn't get good gas mileage so I need a car that can be a good daily driver and a vehicle that me and mom can travel in because her car is burning oil and we need a car that can take us there Kia makes a extremely great product for a wonderful price can't beat that
kirby vanduzer Yes the SX Turbo is very sporty! It has a HUGE panoramic sunroof!! 19 inch rims!! I just got mine in February a 2020 one.
Get rear ended one time and have to replace the whole rear end
Yes I'd like to see more like this! Great job 👍 nice car!
Thanks I will bring it to you!
Have they addressed the oil delivery defect? Or are they still spinning rod bearings?
If I come to Lokey Kia to purchase a vehicle, will you include several boxes of Hostess products hidden in those various storage areas you mentioned?
Sure! I'll take car e of you! LOL
Love those wheels.
I am so glad that I could share this one with you!
That was fun. Have also moved from EX to SX Turbo and I’m thrilled. I’ll be looking forward to your take. Thanks!
I like watching your reviews! helps me decide on the car that's just right!
I saw an SX trim at our local Kia dealership wondering if it’s worth it and it’s a Kia CPO
Joe , great review! Kept my attention throughout the entire review
Thanks Nelson! I really appreciate it!
You do such a good job reviewing these auto's.
I actually like the plastic backs of the seats. Lol
Neting is a huge no though. Like the cargo storage.
Wish the dash had a no slip dish.
Vented seats would be good and maybe a home outlet.
Over all I like it.
Thanks for letting me share this one Rebecca!
What!! You need to do a review on the SX Turbo of this car! 😂
I review every trim of models. Thanks!
Raiti's Rides My comes with a spare tire!!
Thanks for reviewing this ride. Bought the Sportage S and I love it! 👍🤓
Ronald Hull you are so welcome! I’m glad you are enjoying yours!
Is this car worth me driving down to Matt Blatt Kia in Toms River New Jersey to take a look??
It’s a nice SUV but I would say wait for the redesign but also what happens if the redesign is ugly and this version is better looking.
Good call.
That's why I bought 2022 Ex trim with fully loaded..
2023 Redesign is Fu*king ugly to me..
What configuration is it? Classic, Comfort, GT??
Down under we get a full size spare wheel, looks like in the US, you get FA,
My mom has a 2015 Sportage EX AWD, really really like the previous exterior design over this one. But the newest one definitely is better with the interior than the previous though. Hopefully they update it again in the coming years.
Thanks for sharing that.
The Sportage nameplate was introduced to the US market for the 1994 model year.
Your reviews are some of the best in TH-cam.
Where is the spare tire?
In the bottom of cargo area
Its called a tire pump with sealant
I love my kia sportage but my passengers always complain about the legroom in the back
Has more leg room in back than most of the competition, maybe the front passengers have their seats too far back?
Lana Lutchman Complainers are a pain aren’t they.
I like and always watched your videos. Can you make a review for minivan Kia Sedona 2020. Thnx
don’t get this car had it for less than a year and now i have to repair a hole in the radiator even my 2008 honda civic didn’t have to get fixed after 10 years.(really loved this car until this happened)
Trying to get my mom by the SX trim. Perfect for her. She wants the ford edge tho.
ITALYRS oh goodness urge her not to get that domestic mess they don’t review well. Kia is built Better and supported by a long warranty! If it’s your money just ask her to pick a color and get a Sportage in her garage!
ITALYRS keep working on her to get the Sportage.
Could you test the 2.0L Turbo.
Hi I didnt see a spare tire. Where is it.
Hi Joe, thanks for the great videos! Can you do a review of the KIA Sportage 2022 SX trim (non-turbo) 2.0 L engine AWD? This is one of the options I'm looking at in Doha, Qatar. There is no turbocharged engine version here. Thanks!
This don't have sunroof?
this is my dream car
I am so glad that I could share it with you!
No sun roof? Kinda kills it for me..they really do need a refresh otherwise a great looking ride
I have the 2020 S model and it has a panoramic sunroof/ moonroof. Love it!
@@Shananana99 I'll have to rescope it out..good time to buy maybe 😲
