    Thank you for your wonderful travel series touring Iceland. Very informative, and well presented. (yes I like the silliness). We drove the Ring road June 4-15 and had an amazing time. (As retirees, we did hotels instead of campers). I tell friends/family your series is the best representation of driving the ring road. Thanks again.

    • @TheAwkwardTourists
      @TheAwkwardTourists  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      The campervan life is tough, especially with the cold of Iceland. We ended up staying in hotels quite a few nights on the ring road also.

    I have loved your videos and learned so much, thank you! We are traveling to Iceland from TX in August. Do you have any recommendations on electric adapters or converter you used? My 1st time having to buy something like this.

    • @TheAwkwardTourists
      @TheAwkwardTourists  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Iceland uses the standard European plug, so you would definitely want to pick up a converter for that. We travel with a small power strip that has a surge protecter, that cuts down on shorting out USA electronics if it is a different voltage. Beware of Hair Straighteners, hair dryers, steamers, and electric razors brought from home, we have shorted those out in the past!

    Stuck on if I should stay in Reykjavik one more weekend day or leave Saturday. I'm traveling with friends but then staying there a lil longer to be on my own. I do like nightlife a little so I'm curious to see what the town has to offer. Obviously I'd spend a little more staying one more day. Just wonder if it's worth it

  • @EmorettaRobinson

    I've been wanting to go to Iceland for a while. I'm glad that I happened across your channel. You showed some really cool places. I've heard about the northern lights since I was a child. I think it would be so amazing to see them in person. And I've tried to figure out if the hot springs in Iceland are similar to the dead sea? Meaning they both have the same benefits and you float in them? I may need to do more research. But I hope you enjoyed your trip. It looks like such an amazingly beautiful country.

    • @TheAwkwardTourists
      @TheAwkwardTourists  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I think the reason you can float in the dead sea is because of the high salt levels, the blue lagoon is salt water, but a lot of the other ones (that we went to) are fresh water so probably not as easy to float. If you want to see the northern lights be sure you go in Fall, winter or early spring. In the summer it is light almost all night long, so even if the lights were out, you wouldn't see them

    Great video guys! How is (public) parking in Reykjavik?

    • @TheAwkwardTourists
      @TheAwkwardTourists  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It was a little tricky downtown, expect to pay for parking in the main areas of the city, but we found a spot that wasn't too far away from our hotel and everything is pretty close so you can walk a lot of places

    In 2004, Bill Clinton visited Iceland. As he was walking past Bæjarins Beztu and the person that was selling the hot dogs called his name and offered him to try a hot dog. Bill was on a diet. Therefore he got a hot dog only with mustard. Since then, a hot dog with mustard has been called a Clinton.

    I take it you're not much for going clubbing, but that's ok. For a comprehensive visit to Reykjavík you'd have to spend at least as long as you did circling the country. I remember those hot dogs from 45 years ago. Regardless of what you put on them, it's the hot dog/sausage itself that makes all the difference. Where else can you find lamb in your hot dog ? Answer : NOWHERE ! Icelanders are very artistic. It can be seen in their goldsmithing and silversmithing. All their wool products from Icelandic sheep. Their furniture making, etc. They are very musical and it almost seems that half the country performs and the other half is the audience. They are great fishermen and great soccer players. They have won the " Strongest Man in the World " more often than any other country, the latest being Hafþór Björnsson from Game of Thrones. Nightlife in Reykjavík is and was always INSANE ! You'd have to stick around a lot longer to find all this out. As an aside, if you two ever decide to have children, they will be full of chin-dimples, cheek-dimples and be as beautiful as you ! Good luck as you continue your escapades. Bless, WRG. from Jacksonville, FL.

    • @TheAwkwardTourists
      @TheAwkwardTourists  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Not too much clubbing for us these days. A 7pm Happy hour is more our style. We have heard that the nightlife in Reykjavik is really good though, especially for live musiv

    • @kriska1888
      @kriska1888 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      And sorry to be honest no Icelandic person is going to be there this early for clubbing 😂 now because of Covid it’s a bit different but before that you weren’t going to meet a Icelandic person downtown before midnight the earliest. It’s more likely that group of friends meet up and throw a before party, then you head downtown for the clubs wen they close it’s all about the after party. So if you go clubbing like a local don’t expect to be home until about the next day and that’s doesn’t have anything to do with going home with someone else. just we like to party wen we start it’s going to be a really good party
