Here's one thing I don't understand about TH-cam, how come this type of content doesn't get thousands if not millions of views? By far this is the most authentic, passionate and lovely video about eating in Iceland I have seen in a while. You didn't visit the most touristy places in the city but restaurants where locals actually go on a daily basis and it felt so genuine, I almost teared up while watching the city I live in, with your curiosity and surprise. So, well done, please keep posting and you have gained a new subscriber. Much love from Iceland!
This means the world to us! Thank you so much for your supportive and heartfelt words! We have poured our hearts and skill into these videos for well over a year...and unfortunately, we're one of many channels that hasn't taken off. In fact, we're in discussion about letting the channel go and embarking on new work adventures. Including, a tea business that I (Bobby) have recently started. We shall see what the future holds. One thing for certain...we will continue to travel! I love and NEED to travel. Iceland holds a special place in our hearts and we look forward to returning ❣️
@@theryanstravel1699 Thank you so much for your message!! Funny enough, my first business in Iceland was my own...tea business! Funny. I just hope you will be posting your future adventures, TH-cam algorithms - in my opinion - is one of the biggest mysteries in history, together with UFOs and stuff like that ...so I selfishly hope you will post again and in the meantime, good luck with all your future projects!! Bless, bless x
Your first job in Iceland was your own tea business?! Wow. That's amazing.❤️ Thanks again for all of your supportive words❣️ Perhaps if we can figure out the mystery behind UFO's....then our channel will suddenly jump to the top of the algorithm and skyrocket our channel? 😅 I'll have to work on figuring that out.🤔 Best wishes to you on your life adventures as well❣️
@@theryanstravel1699 I was excited to have come across your channel but it's sad to hear about you guys may be discontinuing it. I just hope you continue to post something in addition to your new venture. Really really loved it 🙌
This is the best video of the Icelandic food experience that I've seen. So nice to see you spend time with locals and have them return your good energy. Nicely done, guys!
Thanks Mike!! We are still traveling. And still eating! But decided to no longer do any filming. We are relishing in the travels without our camera gear!
Love love LOVE you guys! My husband and I plan a trip to Iceland soon and your genuine tour of the food and hospitality of Iceland has been really enjoyable and informative. You two are adorable (and fabulous!). Best wishes for more travels!
Dane, we love knowing that you guys are heading to Iceland! It makes us so happy to know that this video has given you a little peek into the trip your about to take. Thank you for the lovely compliments. If you remember, let us know a food highlight from your trip! Best, best wishes Tyler and Bobby
I loved the food in Iceland! My favorite was 101 Reykjavik Street Food (the fish & chips were spectacular, as was the seafood soup), and I ate there multiple times during my trip. My pricier & fancy meal at The Lobsterhouse was phenomenal. And of course, the ice cream at Valdis (the rhubarb and the rye bread flavors were my favs). I cannot wait to go back!
Ooo, we love hearing about your culinary adventure! We didn't eat at any of the places you mentioned... And they all sound great! That seafood soup and rhubarb ice cream especially catch our attention! 😋
I'm only halfway through this video. And I love the variety of places you've visited from the fanciest restaurant to the most intimate pizza place. The people you met from the Hit Dog man to the Pizza woman. It's incredible to see how friendly everywhere is and you seem to have had such a unique experience. This is like you have planned and paid for actors but it's all natural. Just heartwarming to watch and also very useful as I am heading to Iceland for 4 days in September!
Oh this all makes me so homesick!!!!! I may be biased, but I think this is your very best video of all! Thank you for taking me to my beautiful Reykjavik so intimately.
Yes! You may be biased... AND we totally get how it would make you homesick. All those comforting foods and sights and friends. Iceland will forever be beckoning you!
I agree the presentation and simplicity of how its presented draws you in as if you were there. I am going to Iceland with friends in September and looking forward to it ..
This was a really cool video, fellas! I’ve actually watched it several times. Your respect and appreciation of Iceland and its people was refreshing. Your visit with the pizza baker and her offering to knit the cat hat was really sweet. I’m adopted and found out that my father was from Iceland and have visited several time. Naturally, I got to have the home dining experience, which takes it to another level. I’m so happy that you guys got that experience. It truly looked like you might have been close to my sister’s house. Everything that I ate while there was great, but my favorites were the hot dogs, roasted lamb and oddly enough….the sheep’s head. Thank you for a great video. 🤙🏻
Wow Mitch, thanks for sharing a bit about yourself with us. What a discovery to find out your father lives in Iceland. Bobby still wears that hat! We treasure meeting that pizza baker! So glad to know you enjoyed the video. ❤️
Okay you guys are officially my favourite travel vloggers. So glad we connected. Thoroughly loved watching the whole video. Didn't even realize I spent half an hour watching you guys eat lol but it was very entertaining and I loved the way you were describing the food and the places. Being a foodie myself, I already made a list of what all I will eat on my trip to Iceland (hopefully) at the end of this year.
Wow, thanks for the love! We are both crossing our fingers for your trip to Iceland to still happen at the end of the year. It's quite wild to be there during the short winter days. We both felt really disoriented on our first morning when the sun had just finished rising at 11am. But like we said in the video, we literally loved every meal we ate. The food in Iceland matches the country's natural beauty. So glad we're connected :)
Oh and i haven't seen all of your videos but Icelandic wool is amazing, i imported a handmade sweater and it is the most amazing sweater i ever had. It wasn't cheap but worth every penny ❤ i can imagine there are many beautiful choices there.
My first vlog with y'all and I just love you. I live in Virginia, USA, and Iceland is on my bucket list. Very comforting to hear so many folks speaking English.
Yay Kathy! We hope you can make it there soon. Most Icelanders' English is flawless. Often with an American-sounding dialect. It's extremely easy to communicate over there. Happy travels (or armchair travels for now)!
I knew all about knitters. The local crochet club here is shady pines are the shady hookers😂😂😂 ya never know. Great video. It was fun and very real. Thanks for sharing.
Hi guys, I am happy to discover your channel. Your videos are so peaceful, so warm and friendly. I adore watching all your activities. And also I want to throw a stone in TH-cam's garden - I cant understand why your channel is so underestimated?!
Been to Iceland and loved it. Agree, the food was amazing everywhere I went. Went to the Braud Bakery and loved it. Would love to return some day. Thanks for making this video.

I've been looking for Iceland food videos so I know where to go when I travel to Iceland this summer! This was definitely the best video i found. You guys are amazing!
Bennett watched this one with me! He was enthralled. The people there seem soooo nice! I really want to go there. That family was beautiful and the food looked amazing! I love bread and I want all that bread!!
We love that Bennett watched with you ❤️❤️❤️ Our friend, Jim, introduced us to that lovely Icelandic family. We felt so lucky to get a peek into their lives. Xoxo
I can vouch for the superior quality of hot dogs in Iceland. I've had several, and they far exceed any others I've had in numerous places, including the famous ones at Nathan's in NYC. Not sure what makes them so tasty, but I yearn. And fish and chips I've had in Reykjavík were among the finest I've ever experienced. I could happily survive for weeks on those two along with rúgbrauð and skyr.
I loved this video, I have to admit I wouldn't eat half of what was served but it was still amazing to watch!! I hope you got your kitten hat before you left.
We constantly run into foods that push us outside of our comfort zones. Sometimes we just gotta put up our boundaries and say no thank you 😀 But sometimes we try things and discover we actually really like them! And yes, Bobby still wears the kitten hat she made for him!
I wouldn't mind going to that family's house if I was ever in Iceland. The dad is a tremendous cook and the dishes looked and sounded mouth watering. Two of the beautiful girls looked just like him.
Great inspirational video. Thanks to you guys we have booked flights to the USA in September with an Icelandic stopover on Iceland air . Compulsive viewing and a great balance to your vlogs . Keep up the good work.

Aren't you just the most lovely pair ever to visit the island in the north! ? I just feel the urge to cook my heart out for you, while playing Icelandic Eurovision songs and have a sing along :) Can't help myself.
Yeah! Iceland has some iconic hot dogs. I think it was an American President that ate at a hot dog stand in Reykjavik... and they've been famous ever since!
This is such a great destination, not very much talked about, thanks for this beautiful sneak peek, it really feels like traveling with you guys! you're lovely!!😉👏🏽
@@theryanstravel1699 it's really amazing, well you're definitely great company! I'm a traveller at heart myself, but obviously in this period I am and feel kinda stuck, so I came across your channel and it really felt like being there, I love your content and also your editing style!😉👍🏽
Lovely video, I’m so glad to see vegan choices made! My husband and I went to Iceland 3yrs ago and also had a date night at Glò! They were so nice there as well. How nice of that lady to offer to make you a beanie 🤍 I’d love to go back but it’s a long flight from South Australia! Thank you for sharing some foodie adventures.
Wow! What a fun discovery to realize the coincidence of the Glo date night! Yes, coming from South Australia would be a MUCH longer flight. That's quite a commitment to make. And we love finding vegan choices while we travel too!
Thank you for a wonderful overview of Iceland food. We are cruising in June and will try the bake9 and vegan dogs. Question is the same type of food/eateries available throughout Iceland. 🤔
That's a great question! Although we took day tours outside of Reykjavik, we didn't experience much of other parts of the country. So we can't offer any insights as to the food in different areas. We wish you the best for your Iceland trip!!
Bobbie and Tyler, Really enjoyed your Vlog. I am planning to visit Iceland end of this month. Looking at tips to do and not to do I stumbled on your video. Really enjoyed the friendship and ambassadorship of the 2 ladies at BRAUD and Martina at the Pizzeria. Bobbies Vanilla and Nougat pastry and Jim's Cinnamon Roll Pizza is definitely a must. The family you visited wasn't introduced, but the gent (dad) was very knowledgeable of cooking traditions and techniques. Ska'i... Mano (Baltimore)
Mano, so nice to "meet" you! And we're so excited to know that you'll be heading to Iceland soon. You've done such a nice job describing the interactions we had with our food ambassadors. We think longingly of those pastries from Braud.
Kathleen so good to hear from you! Thank you so much for giving this a watch. We've been posting a video each week since October. Gonna do it for at least a year and then reevaluate to see how we wanna move forward. Much love to you!

What’s with the knitting? How did you end up dining with a knitting group? I love that y’all make friends everywhere you go... we are kindred spirits ❤️
Yeah, knitting is sorta random! We actually were hired to record the knitting group by a company that organizes knitting retreats around the world. Unfortunately that company has just closed its doors forever because of the pandemic :(
I LOVE that y’all are foodies like me!! One of the best parts of traveling ❤️😋... My friend raved about Icelandic hotdogs. Now I understand why! (New sub here😉)

Take care of yourselves and if you're ever in NYC, we would be happy to give you tips 😊 Tommy
Tommy we love to hear about your upcoming trip! It's so fun to research and dream before traveling (even if we've already been to the destination in the past). My wife and I are going in September on our way to England. The food you folks are eating looks amazing. Thanks for the video. Well done. But pizza? Iceland? : )
Pizza in Iceland 😂 whenever we travel we like to try how the local culture makes foods like pizza or hamburgers. Dishes like those really give a perspective into local tastes and aesthetics. Excited for you guys to explore England in September!!
Better than in Italy and the US. Don't know why but we Icelanders do exceptionally well in pizza and chocolate. Be sure to have some candy when you visit :)

Other then fast food type restaurants, what would be about the lowest prices for a lunch and a dinner meal there at a regular restaurant? Just an approximate amount for these meals on the lower price range. In US dollars please. Of course, I know lunch will usually be less then dinner.
That's a great question. I remember finding a fish and chips restaurant that had fairly good prices for dinner. Maybe $15 to $20 per person. And a Thai restaurant that had similar prices. There were some convenience stores that we would sometimes buy sandwiches and a side dish for about $10. And some hole-in-the-wall eateries for hot dogs that were about $10.
When we went to iceland, to save money, we just ate peanut butter sandwiches and dehydrated food packs for 2 weeks... we ended up having one real meal in a restaurant on the east coast to treat ourselves and maybe it was the starvation talking, but it was probably one of the tastiest meals of my life!
I love this story! I had a similar diet when I went to Australia. I remember eating banana and peanut butter sandwiches over and over. And the food in Iceland is EXPENSIVE. Wow. But everything single thing we ate was delicious 😛
Hi Kim! That root vegetable is called Celeriac. It is used a lot in Iceland...but not much where we live (the U.S.). It's a delicious and mild vegetable. Thank you for watching ❣️
Crazy how all the service workers you interacted with were Americans. Or maybe they're native Icelanders who sound like Americans when they speak English.
Reykjavik is a very progressive city and we found lots of vegetarian options. But it's also a big meat culture. So you'll see red meat and seafood everywhere. We can safely say though that vegetarians will be able to find options just about everywhere.
If you really want to learn how to cook vegetarian vegan or any other cuisine have to know flavor combinations and how they work together. If you don’t want to spend a lot of time learning that you can just buy the Flavor Bible. There are no recipes in this book. It only tells you in great detail what flavors will go well with each other.
Wow, what a cool book recommendation! We've never heard of this before. I will check it out (especially since we both work in artisanal food industry when we're not filming). Thanks Colin!

Yes, we get to be transported back to those magical places, tastes and friends :) We miss you too! Thanks for watching!
Aren't you just the most lovely pair ever to visit the island in the north! ? I just feel the urge to cook my heart out for you, while playing Icelandic Eurovision songs and have a sing along :) Can't help myself.
Oh my gosh, what a fun evening we would all have together! Home cooking and sing alongs sound amazing 😍 ❤️
Thank you for sharing a piece of your adventure! I will love to go to Reykjavik Iceland and try their yummy hot dogs!
Yeah! Iceland has some iconic hot dogs. I think it was an American President that ate at a hot dog stand in Reykjavik... and they've been famous ever since!
@@theryanstravel1699 That's cool! That president made history! 😄 🌭
Fantastic video ... Thank you !!! we are visiting September 2024 ... Can we use a credit card in these bakeries ?
This is such a great destination, not very much talked about, thanks for this beautiful sneak peek, it really feels like traveling with you guys! you're lovely!!😉👏🏽
We're honored that you spent so much time on our channel!
@@theryanstravel1699 it's really amazing, well you're definitely great company! I'm a traveller at heart myself, but obviously in this period I am and feel kinda stuck, so I came across your channel and it really felt like being there, I love your content and also your editing style!😉👍🏽
All the sudden I want to visit Iceland
Lovely video, I’m so glad to see vegan choices made!
My husband and I went to Iceland 3yrs ago and also had a date night at Glò!
They were so nice there as well.
How nice of that lady to offer to make you a beanie 🤍
I’d love to go back but it’s a long flight from South Australia!
Oooh that bakery looks great and that vanilla nougat thing sounds incredible! 😍
Yeah, we'd be happy to return to Iceland just to visit the bakery again :0
Looking great guys!! Neat video. Traveling suits you!! x from SJI
Thanks Laura ❤️ And thanks for watching!
Your Uncle Bill just shared this with me. What a fun trip! You two make great ambassadors!
Kathleen so good to hear from you! Thank you so much for giving this a watch. We've been posting a video each week since October. Gonna do it for at least a year and then reevaluate to see how we wanna move forward. Much love to you!
@@theryanstravel1699 I envy your dinner visit with the Icelandic knitters. This knitter is half Icelandic herself, you know! I look forward to more of your videos.
that is so great ,very interesting, thanks for sharing,I wish you all the best
Thank you! Cheers!
This is very compelling to watch. Thanks for the tips, guys 🙌
Awesome! So glad to hear it. Does this mean you're heading to Iceland??
@@theryanstravel1699 yes, I’m planning to go there next October. 🙂
So exciting!! You get to do a lot of dreaming and planning between now and then!
Just want to let you know that I loved this video and it helped me so much to plan my trip to Iceland in June. I plan to eat at Brikk and Snaps, and can't wait to try all the pastries at Braud & Co. I wish you had posted more videos from your travels there but really, really enjoyed all that you did post. I am even trying to upgrade to Saga Class to try out that amazing lounge! I have subscribed now and will be looking forward to your future travels and adventures.
Joe, what a fabulous message to read! We're so happy to hear that you'll be heading to Iceland in June! We are honored to know that you've enjoyed these videos and thanks for subscribing. We hope you can make it to all those fabulous restaurants (and of course discover some gems of your own!)
Delightful video.
Headed to Iceland next week. You guys are an inspiration!
Woohoo! We're so excited for you! Have a fabulous trip 💜
We love Eldsmidjan! We went there 3 times on our last trip in February 2020. We leave for Iceland again in 16 days! Cannot wait to eat that pizza again!
Woohoo!! Pizza is one of those foods that is really fun to try all over the world. We're so happy to hear that you're just about to leave for Iceland! Best wishes on your travels!
You guys must know Steven West? I am a knitter from 🇨🇦booked my trip to Iceland for July 2022. Cannot wait. Enjoyed your video ❤️
Howdy. Although some of our friends know Steven West...we have yet to meet him.
Congratulations on booking your trip❣️ What a wonderful thing to look forward to ❣️
And thanks for watching our channel ❣️
Great video! You guys are so engaging 😍😍😍 (flat heaven cracked me up ❤️)
Yay, thanks Duanne! ❤️ ❤️
Wow! Another amazing video. What an amazing place. The food looked so amazing, I want to go there just to try the food. The people are so nice there! I love the hat TIna made you, what an amazing women, so nice and beautiful. Sorry for using the word 'amazing" so much! lol :)
Les, we think you'd love the food there! We can totally picture you on a food adventure. And yes, meeting Tina was so awesome and she is so generous. Bobby wears his kitty hat all the time!
Great Travel video. Very interesting to watch...
😍😍😍
❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
👍👍👍👍👍41
Thank you very much! :)
What’s with the knitting? How did you end up dining with a knitting group? I love that y’all make friends everywhere you go... we are kindred spirits ❤️
Yeah, knitting is sorta random! We actually were hired to record the knitting group by a company that organizes knitting retreats around the world. Unfortunately that company has just closed its doors forever because of the pandemic :(
The Ryans Travel cool story, but sad ending 😥
I LOVE that y’all are foodies like me!! One of the best parts of traveling ❤️😋... My friend raved about Icelandic hotdogs. Now I understand why! (New sub here😉)
Yes! Icelandic hot dogs are a THING. I believe it was Bill Clinton who ate at a hot dog stand and turned them trendy.
The Ryans Travel that’s funny!
I absolutely, thoroughly enjoyed this !!!
So glad to hear that, Angela 💜❤️💜
Hi Bobby and Tyler, my wife and I absolutely love your channel. We are going to Iceland in a week and it is so nice to see your recommendations even though we have been there a few times:) I think Snaps will be a must. And of course Braud & Co. Take care of yourselves and if you're ever in NYC, we would be happy to give you tips 😊
Tommy
Tommy we love to hear about your upcoming trip! It's so fun to research and dream before traveling (even if we've already been to the destination in the past). There's so much good eating to be done in Iceland. Hopefully you two are in food bliss throughout your whole trip. And thanks for the kind invitation for New York advice. We will keep that in mind!
@@theryanstravel1699 hi again you two. We definitely need some food bliss. I will keep you posted. All the best :) 🙏
Awesome! We love hearing about other people's adventures!!
@@theryanstravel1699 well gents we have been back for 3 weeks. Food bliss was achieved daily, northern lights and a erupting volcano was seen. Just a wonderful time 🙏 hope you are both well.
I wish we had bakeries like that in the US!
So true, Wyatt! You would love this bakery!
Really enjoyed this video..... So authentic 🤍
Yay! We're so happy to hear that you enjoyed it 🥰
Just came across you guys and I love this channel! ♥️
Yay Chana! Thanks so much for leaving us a note. Xoxoxo
Lovely thanks for the video...is there a list of the names of the places you are at ... The pizza place ? Going in March and my dad is kinda picky 😅
Wonderful! We hope you guys have an amazing time. All the places we visit are in the video description. You'll find names and websites of each restaurant there.
Loved this video! Love you guys! And I love your infinity scarves! Where can I get myself one?
Aren't those scarves lovely?! They were made by the host of the knitting retreat we were on. Jim (who is also in the video) made one for every participant of the program. We're so glad you enjoyed the video
Reykjavik is phenomenal!!!!!
We totally agree!
Great video, I would love to host you for a proper Reykjavik Food Tour when you come back to Iceland :), focusing on delicious traditional Icelandic Food.

Oh wow, thank you Valur! We would love to explore traditional Icelandic food. We're ready to go back to Iceland!
@@theryanstravel1699 Reach out when you are able to come back :)
Yes will go there to eat in bakery haha no, Im going there in december but will visit this place too then if you say its good.
@@ggarnadottir can I bring Kratom into Iceland? Seriously. Jetlag.
I have to say Why Iceland 🇮🇸! I have seen other videos with your boys
Mayo or also remoulade are not bytheway . ... but delicious 😊 Nice video, you make me hungry
I missed one word .. are not vegan
thanks for the video ..keep connected

Those bakery girls or totes adorbs!
We completely agree!!
First to tell me about the vegan option.. Ty ❤️
Yes! Even though Iceland is very meat-oriented, there are plenty of vegan options to be found!
@@theryanstravel1699 thank you 🥰😍🥰😍😘
what was that vegetable that he sautéed with the onions (you said was a cold weather vegetable)?
Hi Kim! That root vegetable is called Celeriac. It is used a lot in Iceland...but not much where we live (the U.S.). It's a delicious and mild vegetable. Thank you for watching ❣️
How do I meet this knitting group when I go 😆
They were such a great group!!
What month of the year did you visit Iceland? And were you staying in some type of home rental like an Airbnb or Vrbo?
We stayed at a hotel in downtown, but our room was actually an apartment. It was so fabulous. We were there in January 2020
Did you try sheep head if not ! You miss the best food
awesome
thanks
Was this pre pandemic?
Always
❤️ 💙 💜
Crazy how all the service workers you interacted with were Americans.
Or maybe they're native Icelanders who sound like Americans when they speak English.
Are there vegetarian options?
As a blackman, this is entertaining.
We hope that's not true. Besides, we would have all just gone together had we three been traveling together.💗
even the hot dog guy is nicely attired..so different from slovenly americans
It's true! People are very nicely attired. In general, the standard of living is quite high in Iceland
Geez I Hate being Gluten Free 😢
Rekyjavik is very food flexible! You'll find gluten free options!
Vegan pizza - yeah, thats so "fun". 😅
Yum, yum, yum! 😆
