Damn, didn't know Bettel is such a gentleman. As an aspiring artist, I find his perspective commendable, he's earned more of my respect than he already did.

That's a great attitude to have. Hearing Liz's version actually introduced me to the original so hopefully Bettel gets some deserved exposure out of it.

Now that you mention it, I think Bettel's super good at playing the card-carrying villain and the insecure hero. It's not that he doesn't have his own struggles beneath the mask, but he makes those struggles not only something others would learn from but also something he will overcome through his mask. After all, a mask doesn't just hide.

Speaking of James Bond, when Elizabeth sung Skyfall in her unarchived karaoke, I was not only amazed by her performance but I also noticed that Skyfall and Unlucky sounded kind of similar. The Holomems might not be able to archive a karaoke stream if they sing Skyfall, but they can certainly archive it if they sing Unlucky, so I'm really happy that Bettel even conceptualized Unlucky in the first place, and Elizabeth loved the song enough to sing it in her own way and giving us the "Skyfall" of Hololive Productions.
i love both version, one version is the one of the unlucky jester, but elizabeth is more the song of a queen..... both version are insane and it can be possible to create a third version with both inside. like a duet on one side the jester and after the queen side, until they meet and they go: "you know what? we don't care!"

Remember how the lyrics of unlucky describe Bettel, people: His misfortune is not just by design but also his design. The world can and will treat him like a loser whether he really is or not, but he can and will make wins out of it not just for himself but also for everyone else. He could've stopped at just making wins for himself, which is what we people in general would usually do, but his response to Lizzie's performance of unlucky shows that he goes beyond that, and that's something that we fellow fools should follow.

I made it here thanks to Elizabeth's karaoke... I also listened to the song she covered for the same reason, both are good. Liz has an insane range and control but can't go as deep as Bettel, both had very good strengths they brought to the song. To be honest the first time she sang it was by far the better version as she was not tired yet, so if you have only seen the one bettel commented on take a listen to the first one; not only is her voice stronger but the style was slightly different as well.
Love it when a group of talents can all take a swing at each other's songs. It really lets the song shine in different ways.

its excites me to see HoloEn interact with StarsEn. it means theres a chance we'll see a possible collab one day. I'm praying to the gods that Liz or all of Justice gets to collab with the boys in some way.
HoloSalt may be gone, but the possibility of a new unit to rival their on stream chemistry has me excited!
Both versions were incredible of course, but personally I actually prefer the original. I do agree with Bettel that Lizzy having her original take on the song was cool, but I just prefer the slightly granger feel from Bettel's version more for that song.
Ironically I'm also super stoked to see a new talent that sings in Lizz's style, that kinda 1950s cabaret club style is something I don't think I've really seen in Hololive (excluding Watame's recent swing song, but that's not quite the same)
Also also, it's great to see her openly interacting with the bois. Some of the gals just don't wanna or are too shy to collab with guys and that's totally fine, but some of them like Kiara have said before that they don't because they are afraid of fans getting angry and I absolutely HATE that they are forced to tiptoe around like that because of a few parasocial freaks. Everyone being able to just interact and collab with who-ever they want to is just basic and I truly want that to be normalised in HoloEN.
Honestly, as amazing as Lizzie's grandiosity is, I still think of unlucky as Bettel's very own song. Sure, Lizzie has technical superiority, but that same superiority would work against her if the song were billed as her original, especially with how heroically she behaves.
And about those Live members who worry about getting flamed, I frankly consider them having some responsibility there, too, especially if they insist on people respecting each other. We're not on a one-way street here, and if you want something, you'd give your all for it, especially if you know better. And knowing isn't just a passive thing, but also an active thing you can never do without believing first. Now, I could stop treating them and all those they call their fans as fellow people because of all that, but if I did, then they'd lose a potential role model for if they want to actually do better.

Unlucky is already a very solid song on its own, but the skill and talent that ERB was able to infuse into her own performance brought "good" to "holy crap this is amazing wtf"
i was kinda worried that Bettel would feel insecure or a bit miffed at everyone comparing him and ERB, but he seems to be taking this situation in stride
I'm pretty sure it's more than just seeming to take it in stride with how he goes all the way with playing and not being the bad guy with his jester character, a character that I think is easier to see being used to draw a larger but shallower crowd.
Bettel went on to drop some hilarious Great Exardia lore a few minutes later. I kind of want that clipped so it becomes canon. I did watch his week in review to see his reaction to this but I also think Liz is a bit like Calli and searches out the good songs in holo. At that point not collabing with everyone is cutting your nose off to spite your face. I think the unicorns may just have to get over it.
I'm also a big fan of when people take songs and change them up to better suit their style. It's the same logic behind why I don't mind remasters/remakes of old video games or remakes of older movies. I think the net benefit of spreading the gospel of the original is in and of itself worth the effort but then there's the added bonus that some people will prefer the newer version and so the IP gets to live on in popularity for longer.
People can like covers more, but the people commenting it is cringe. You can just say you really like the cover, no reason to mention how much more you like it than the og etc.

Totally agree. You can simply just saw you loved a certain version of a song, which already implies it's personally your favourite.
But having to specifically say Liz's is better, or defend Bettel's original, is cringe.

I think (and I hope) that we are in a time where Holofans are visibly starting to accept hologirls and holoboys interacting with each other and I pray that these moments go stronger as time goes by. of course unicorns will always be there, but I think understanding fans outweighs them more and are on board with these changes.
Now if only cover would recognise that...
@@RiaGracewood I think Cover is allowing their talents to collab whoever they want and its the talents' choice if they want to collab with other vtubers but sadly enough, mostly (in my opinion) the wall that are stopping them to collab with other vtubers is the fear that their fans (mostly unicorns) would go haywire if they do collab with others.
We are their support but sadly we also are their downfall if we create enough drama to ruin and pull them down from the limelight imo
@@poryutoob forgive me if I have my doubts. I'm sure what you said is a contributing factor, but Stars/Live collabs used to be semi-common. They still are on the JP side. Then they abruptly stopped. Then Vesper and Magni left without a word. It likely wasn't the only reason, but I'd put money on them having decided to leave because they were being restricted. It's not like I even think Cover are doing it maliciously, probably just being careful, but bowing to the demands of the unicorn crazies is not the solution. It just validates their abusive behaviour.
@@RiaGracewood I noticed it too that the holoboys and hologirls on the EN side seemed to stop collabing abruptly and its kinda a let down to me too.
About Vesper and Magni, we don't know what really is the reason why they ended their contract to Cover. Many speculations are being said. Magni and Vesper's current "life" also said vague answers( mostly Magni, idk about Vesper) but these doesn't clearly says what the reason is so I don't delve on such speculations without visible proofs.
Lastly, when you said "bowing to the demands of the unicorn crazies is not the solution", it really is not the solution and I think Cover isn't really doing what they did to just appease those said unicorns. Instead of appeasing the unicorns, Cover might (I said "might" cause I do not really know what they think, just my thoughts) have done those things to protect their own talents and employees. One example I can think of is the measures they took to combat Defamation and Other Infringements of Rights to their talents.
I don't know what the inside workings of Cover but what they are showing us and what we see seems like they are learning and correcting their mistakes to not repeat said mistakes.

A bit of the magic did truthfully leave with them, but there's still definitely some worthwhile talent in there. I'm particularly fond of Bettel and Ruze, myself. I do really like Shinri, too, but he streams a lot of horror games and I just do not care about those, even if I usually enjoy the person streaming them.
Hey! As a day 1 Vestie, and day 1 member of Vesper's channel, I totally understand.
It took me a while to warm up to VG and then Armis, but all the boys are incredible in their own way.
If you want specific picks for who to check out, I'd recommend Bettel being similar to Magni, and Flayon being similar to Vesper. Not to say they're that similar, they're all unique in their own ways, but I found similar stream vibes with them. Shinri is also a good fit for the more comfy, Zatsu streams Ves used to do.
Also really loving Ruze's streams lately. He's got a bit of Vesper and Magni to his personality, while also being uniquely himself.

I feel like Elizabeth could help close the gap between Hololive and Holostars. I know that the ID girls already collab with the guys but the EN girls hardly do it because of the backlash from some toxic people.
