I’m not a big fan of Irv, but without him I don’t think Ashanti would’ve been as big as she became in the 2000s.

When you’re in the studio with a real producer (not beat maker) you are collaborating on how a song should go. If you watch the murder inc documentary episode 3 they go into detail about how Ashanti always wanted to sing like Whitney Houston like hit the highest notes but Irv and them coached her into the style she did and became successful with.
@@shy_doll5045Irv most definitely helped on records saying write this type of record. He may not have wrote the lyrics but as a producer he most definitely helped guide her pen but that’s not to take away from Ashanti cuz you’re collaborating in the studio. That’s how it goes.

He claims to have made her when the truth may be that she made him as well. She kept him afloat with her beauty, her personality and her money making abilities.
It was a mutual beneficial relationship until it wasn’t. Ashanti definitely wasn’t the artist she was before Irv and he helped hone her skills like a producer is supposed to. Not saying she couldn’t have found another situation that may have made her successful but with Irv doing the wrongs he did when speaking about her people are also quick to write off the things he did right

No he wasn’t. He was legally married but separated from his wife when him and Ashanti got together but she wasn’t the reason. His ex wife Deb caught Irv with other women and that’s what lead to their separation. Irv and Ashanti were together for a few years from what Chris Gotti said so I’m sure by the time Irv was heartbroken over Ashanti he was legally divorced.
