Yaz is really a 4th outfielder type on a really good team. Really the starting outfield next year should be Ramos in LF, Lee in CF, and most likely McCray in RF, with Yaz the backup for all three positions. I wouldn't mind keeping him.
Agree. He’s had his chance I would even go as far as him going to a good team unlike the giants he would likely have the potential to be better. It’s time to move on
You don’t pay a backup outfielder $10 million.
Yaz would be a steal at 10 mil for 2025 compared to what SF paid Conforto the past 2 seasons. Their stats for 2023-24 are errily similar, yet Conforto was way overpaid at $36 mil total while Yaz made 14 mil total. Keeping Yaz for another year is a no brainer.
Conforto was platooned two years in a row. He’s hitting over 300 against lefties this season. Not everyone is a slater or a yaz type player that can be platooned at still perform. Seen the same issues with the young guys that get platooned.
@@ProducerRyan212 Why did SF pay Conforto 36 mil to be a platoon player? They're desperate to get 'name' players to come to SF, so when they snag one, they overpay for guys in their early thirties, whose careers are on the down side.
@@tommybottsI’m with yah I just think Conforto isn’t really the problem more of an organizational issue
Oh, it's definitely an organization issue. I just hate to see teams overpay for guys entering the latter stages of their careers.
@@tommybotts 100% agree and I think we just kind of did the same thing with Chapman. I think he’ll be good for the next couple seasons tho
He always has a few good stretches through the season but it's not consistent
Hope he ends up in Boston
I was for Yaz coming up from their system, but Giants don't need him. They need to sign Teoscar Hernandez, as an FA, for their lineup. More importantly, Giants have to get a real DH in their lineup like Phillies, Dodgers and Braves have if they, in their infinite wisdom, decide to keep Yaz. Did you notice they got shut out tonight for the 6th time this year?
Yaz is better than Conforto
Not saying much...they BOTH SUCK
Not saying much...they BOTH SUCK
Yaz was good for us and there’s some sentimental value having him on the team, sure. But it’s time you rewrite this lineup. Bring in the young guys. We need McCray and Matos out in the field. Daily. There will be no improvements for them if they dont
Matos is huge defensive liability, not to mention he can't hit.
@@tommybotts Matos literally broke records for Giants franchise and tied other records during a hot streak…because they played him consistently. And frankly, any struggles can (hopefully) worked out with experience. Once dude plays consistently enough and if he still sucks then, that’s a different conversation.
@@dlmaita3622 You take away that one week in May where Matos knocked in 16 runs, you pretty much have nothing. In addition, Matos is a poor fielder. He can't go back on a ball to save his life, and he often takes the wrong angle going after a fly ball. He is a defensive liability.
@@tommybotts okay but I can make the same argument. “You take away the blank amount of times Matos made a defensive error” so on and so forth. Dudes had 148 at bats this entire season. Not a lot. There’s a shitload of guys on this roster who have made a plethora of errors including our “gold glove golden boy” Chapman yet he plays every day.
Macray can’t hit. Matos can’t hit or field. Luciano can’t hit or field. I thought Wisely was our 2b of the future, but he went in the tank once they started platooning him. Our “young guys” wouldn’t even be big prospects in a good farm system.
I was on the fence about keeping Yastrenski until listening to this podcast. I think the Giants should keep him if he'll sign a restructured contract.
great video about YAZ!!! thank you Ben!!!
Any above average offensive numbers playing at Oracle is excellent
Keep Yaz
We need to get more athletic and add speed defensively and on offense. His .240 with 15 HR just don’t cut it for an under .500 ball club with low attendance right now. The Giants need consistent clutch players and impact players defensively. Time to get ride of the mid players who have low batting ave, low HRs, no speed on the bases or in the outfield defensively.
Yaz is very inconsistent
Bring up Eldridge and let Wade and Encar cover backup duties. I do like him, though. Great defense and a solid dude. Tough call.
If I was Camilo Doval I'd be more worried than Yastremsli about my Giant's future. That young man needs an attitude adjustment!
The Conforto hate is ridiculous. Conforto was platooned two years in a row. He’s hitting over 300 against lefties this season. Not everyone is a slater or a yaz type player that can be platooned at still perform. Seen the same issues with the young guys that get platooned. Organization has done a bad job with FA in general manea, joc, gauzman etc all been great since leaving.
Yaz is an above average outfielder & a little better than average hitter.
Keep Yaz!!!
i will trade him for prospect he is at best left handed austin slater no more than that,
@@Thomas-v5s1bYaz is immensely better than Slater
Would Yaz be open to platooning at 1st?
His OPS is 113 which is right where it's been for his career. I don't see the problem.
He is a good player although not a great player. You need some good players on the team since there are very few great players.
If money is the only reason the Giants are not going to resign him for 1 year then its should be a no question 100% resign Yaz. But if they plan to sign a A list slugger then I can see Yaz not coming back. If the plan is to put one of the young cats on as a starter right fielder, then keeping Yaz for his RF knowledge and veteran present should worth it. Right field at Oracle is the trickiest spot to play.
@@xjacktitan What A-list slugger wants to play in SF? Giants have not had a 30 Homer OF since Bonds in 2004!!
Sell high he has some values but not as a everday player trade for prospect, cant let him walk for nothing.
Trading Yaz? SMH. They need to keep him and biting in another pitching ace.
He’s hitting now when their season is over, where was he during the season when they needed him? He’s average at best, give a young player his position.
Who's going to be the dh next season
I'm down for Anthony Santander..he can play corner OF/1B too
If we can sign him for no more, then 5 million to be the 4th outfielder that could work
5 million too low for him? he can get more somewhere else i dont think he will be back.
Yaz has to be a forever giant. Let him retire on the Red Sox’s his last years sure. But I like him too much.
Yastrzemski would do best in Boston. Conforto was a mistake. Zaidi must be shown the door. He can go back to the Dodgers.
Trade Yaz to Red Sox!🧦 let him finish the circle ⭕️ grandpa Carl started!
It's not a tough call at all. He pads his stats vs bad arms and his defense while good, is overrated in RF. He's a 34 year old journeyman who hits .220 and strikes out at a 30% clip. Please give this job at locked on to someone else. We need to purge your type from the fanbase and start getting serious,
Farhan has created this bootleg market of 4A players that he signs and takes through the arbitration process; which artificially inflates their salary and when they actually hit the FA market then we find how much over market price Farhan is paying. The abbreviated version “is stepping over dollars to pick up dimes”
Yaz is gone we need upgrades
Get LOST....9 or 10 million....NO THANKS!
Adios
