@@NeoKaiser0 It's part of the ensh**ification of modern game design, especially in action games and action-RPGs: Why test positioning, resource management, knowledge of finer enemy behaviors, multipurpose applications of individual tools, and so on when everything can be reduced to an instant- i-frame parry or dodge? The Odin Sphere remake at least has tons of sauce and encourages the player to engage with its maximalist suite of moves and items, but it kinda invalidates itself with a number of its trend-chasing design decisions, too. EDIT: I'm misusing the term "ensh**ification" here; I guess I just mean more of the typical capitalism race to the bottom.
@@JulietStMoon It's like the Lost Soul arts of Dark Souls. Instead of expanding and refining the design to further test player knowledge and thinking, everybody demands that the only way to play the game is with a Guts playstyle. Max out strength, 2 handed great sword, focus only on i-frame dodging and counter attacking. Every boss is the same, every fight controls the same.
I wanted to like this game a lot but I just had to ragequit when I got to Velvet's boss against Briggits (I think that was his name) that fight is a 100% kusoge-clusterfuck moment. Your abilities suck, every character has low blood sugar and the enemy has an endlessly respawning army of flying assholes that heals him, attacks you and recovers his armor. That whole fight pissed me off so hard I deleted all of my saves to not ever consider giving it another go. This game's shittyness is similar to Persona 3 on PS2, it woos you in with fun gameplay, music and visuals and degrades in actual enjoyment the longer you play it.
I think you're talking about Brigan; the big red fellow who looks like Dr. Robotnik, right lol? Honestly, that was one of the easier versions of his bossfight imo because of how far-reaching your chains are. Also I gotta say, "every character has low blood sugar" is a real clever way to describe low health 😂
@@JulietStMoon I was more referring to how they get a headache after doing a couple swings with their weapon. It reminds me of Jeane Gray from 90ies X-Men.
@@nikodem123asdf LMAO! Really though, for whatever it's worth, that's one of the reasons phozon generation and management is so important: Absorbing phozons refills POW, so if you're resourceful, you can insta-regen POW by making sure phozons are near and absorbing them when you run low/out. You can accomplish this in a few ways: Kiting phozons around you and absorbing when needed, using the Xtra Phozons potion, concocting a potion with a high tens slot (like I did in the video), using an Unlimited Power potion... or my personal favorite cheesy method: Use the Phozon skill Phozon Release and IMMEDIATELY reabsorb them. It'll refill your meter instantly, AND you'll get the additional EXP as if those phozons were new. 😂
In todays world, many people believe that planning and critical thinking aren't skillful but mashing X with your strongest weapon totally is.

Are you talking about "The Lost Soul Arts of Demon's Souls"? That's a kickass video.
@@JulietStMoon I think I'm gonna use Odin Sphere and this video to make a point in an upcoming video I'm making.
I'd say that I still prefer the Leifthrasir version, but the original still has it's own merits.
Hey, I hope you don't mind but I used this clip in a recent video (at 35 minutes and 40 second).
Straight up nuked lol
The ps2 ver plays more similar to princess crown. Every action is methodical
@@y2kjetters317 A fellow enlightened Princess Crown enjoyer; I never thought I'd see one in the wild. 🧎♀️
Definitely has more soul
no lol

No, sorry, having played Leifthrasir first, the POW gauge being depleted by REGULAR ATTACKS is an instant no for me.
Disliking it is totally fine, but that doesn't mean it's bad. The game gives you a bunch of ways to manage and recover POW, too
