I don't think Hurrem could have done anything to prevenit the rivality between Sleim and Bayezid. Remeber this was from child Hood, and both boys grew up knowing they will complete for the throne... What is sad and ironic is that they had most în common, as they were both middle children and în The same position of fighting for the throne, they could have understood echorer the best.. Well he lacked Common sense in many things, one is obvious out of all his sons he choose the worst one, a lazy, non-talented drunkard as his successor, killed Mustafa out of no apparent reason, ordered the killing of Bayezid too, only because of Selim. Killed his best loyal friend and consultant Pargali Ibrahim, a grave mistake, all of these deeds and many others tells a very gruesome dark side of the sultan, just too much foolish policy, with too much innocent blood between his hands.

Education:
Suleiman was a teacher. He seemed to be comfortable passing on his knowledge. He was the only son of Selim left alive, so Bayazid ll and Selim l taught him all that they knew. He seemed to have soaked up knowledge like sponge. His first student was Ibrahim. Taught him everything about warfare and the inner working of Ottoman politics because unlike other leading administrators, he didn't come up through the palace school system.
Mustapha would have been the next person but he refused to learn. He did not like the early start at the divan. He decided to learn from the janissary corp. You know what happened by now. They treated him with deference and they had very good times but went back to their training when he's not there. Hurrem's sons on the other hand had impeccable excellent training. They might have had it difficult sometimes but their parents encouraged them to persevere. They were taken to war as soon as they were circumcised including Cihangir. Mustapha was never taken to war. Mehmet was being trained as the next sultan and everyone knew. Suleiman's nickname for him was 'the best of all the princes' nobody minded except Mahidevran.
Finances:
Sancak beys were supposed to send a portion of taxes collected to the capital. Mustapha and his half brothers did. The difference between them was Suleiman gave eye watering about of money to Hurrem and since she only spend money helping the poor, she gave it to her sons to help the poor in their provinces. The result was they were very wealthy. Hence the need to liase with the Venetians, pashas and the Persians. Mustapha and his mother also spent a lot of money on bribery so that when they take step to enthrone Mustapha people will be with them.
Conclusion:
Remember the Venetians bribed Mehmet ll doctor to kill him.
His support was transactional.
The Venetians and Persians wanted their lands back. The pashas just wanted money and power. Mahidevran was power and jewellery.
So Mustapha had no knowledge, power, education or ability apart from the fact that he felt entitled.
