    I started this thinking, "oh god no", but at the end it really did turn out super nice! Thats crazy. I'm pretty sure if I would have done it it would have definitely looked like paint, lol!

      I don't know... We definitely thought the same thing but we followed all of the instructions and couldn't believe the results. Stuff like this normally doesn't turn out well lol

      I gotta admit, as a professional painter i was skeptical, I was super impressed with your results. kudos

    Cut the sponge into four pieces......the fourth sponge is to "blend" the paint when you are all finished with your colors. It makes a huge difference in the look.

    hi! Nice video! I'd just like to point out that it is "scouring stick" pronounced like "sour" or "hour". :) These are pumice sticks made from volcanic rock, and they are traditionally used to scour toilets. They are great at getting off limescale without scratching the bowl. That grit is it dissolving, which it is made to do, and it is really handy for scrubbing a lot of things that are really dirty. For anyone who wants to use one, they work best if you soak the pumice in water before you use it. It absorbs the water. You can buy these at Walmart or Publix and they are by the toilet cleaning products, just in case anyone is looking for one. They are very inexpensive about a buck and a half, and are very safe. Great job on this and all your other videos. I think I've kind of binged on them. :D

      I work at a paint desk and we actually use something called Gojo, which is a pumice hand cleaner. It works wonders at getting dirt, grime, paint, and the suuuuper concentrated colorants off of your hands!

      Thank you :-) That's some great information... we didn't know you could use them for all those application.

    Just found your channel today. I watched every video! Can't wait to see everything finished and you are on the road! We bought our Class A 4 yrs ago. It was new and I told hubby, after watching so many restore RV's, we should have waited a bit. But we have taken a few trips & hubby is now retired. Our oldest son lives in Oregon. We are in Atlanta. Lots to see between here & there and our 2 dogs, 12 & 14 can go with us! They are spoiled and the 14 yr old doesn't like to be caged at the boarding facilities. He likes to ride in the front seat so if I move, I lose! LOL Happy Travels!
    Oh, BTW I grew up in Columbia, SC. Welcome to the SEC and Go Gamecocks! Missouri is the only Tiger we would pull for! LOL NOT Clemson people at ALL!

      That's great! It's a fun lifestyle for sure. We are actually backlogged with our videos and have been full timing since March. We cannot wait to be all caught up (which should happen within the next couple of months) lots of good stuff coming to the channel. Thanks for following along :-). We here the pacific northwest is gorgeous. Have fun RVing! - Michael + Jenny

    enjoy following your videos. We are planning traveling with our RV after retirement in 10 months. A suggestion: could you post after videos segment or photos. I would like to see the after results of your counter without the blue tape everywhere???

    • @DuetJustusFam
      @DuetJustusFam  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Absolutely! We will be posting the full "after" video in a few months. We shot the video in a very weird order so we are just trying to comb through it all with the hopes that it shows our story and process from start to finish. Just stay tuned and we will have a bunch more stuff to post to the channel. We can't wait to get through all of the renos... the best is yet to come :-) Thanks for watching and following along. We really appreciate it!

    Now that time has passed and your counter-tops and table-top are in constant use, I am curious on how well the paint and clear-coat has held up. When you clean your counters vigorously do you find it scratches the surface?..also, do you have to use cutting boards all the time? My neighbor in our duplex has done this method in her kitchen, but I must admit your counter-tops look so much better than hers!

    • @DuetJustusFam
      @DuetJustusFam  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      +Benita Young Hi there! The clear coat doesn't do the best with constant heat and sunlight (like the dinette) but other than that, it is surprisingly durable. We will need to redo the dinette at some point but as long as you are not too rough on them, you'll be good. Btw we never cut on the counter 🙂

    If you had a ceramic toilet bowl, you could use the scouring stick to clean any lines from minerals.

    Helpful hint, if you plan on redoing your countertop and table, Rustoleum makes a countertop kit that holds up a lot better to water and lasts A LOT longer! Try it and I am sure you'll really like the results you get!

    "s-COW-ring stick." How much was it? You could probably do the same thing with some baking soda.

      @DuetJustusFam  8 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      You're right! Haha silly us... You could probably do the same thing with baking soda but the stick was about $3.00. We just did what the instructions said and it turned out AWESOME! Thanks for the comment!
