Wow this was beautiful and I loved how as a team you could be totally honest with each other but still offer support and love back and forth. Just a lovely video. Thanks for posting it. Oh and talk about a cost effective floor. Excellent!
Making your own flooring is a ton of work. And that's before installing it. Small spaces take more time than people think. You all did an excellent job.
+64maxpower Thank you. We agree! It was super tough but totally worth it. We definitely couldn't have done it without all of the help. Thanks for watching!
Just like my bathroom, when you are doing it you wish you never started but once its finished you would not want anything else. Thanks for sharing. Gary
+Leslie Cruzado We definitely weren't sure how the walnut stain would turn out but we are extremely happy with it. Though, I'm sure we would have been happy either way because the floor is too stinkin cool to us haha.
I love your videos. My husband and I want to live a more simple life like you and your husband. So guess what, we were inspired by you guys to do just that. Thanks and keep up the good work.
Nicely done. Always nice to see a home become more of a home as you work on it. Whenever I do floors, I always miss the brightness of the natuaral wood. Now I am just apply polyurethane after sanding. Keeps it light and airy.
Outstanding!!!!! I'm trying to convince my husband to let me use pallet wood for my all new rustic kitchen countertops. He's not with me yet on using these but I'm not giving up!! I'm going to combine different widths and woods for a beautiful look. Sand the rough parts cut out the sink opening and stain. I'm going to use several countertop epoxy coats to get a level surface and polish to a mirror like shine!
I'm re-watching these videos as I'm taking a stab at a mock up for my pending project. I like the idea of just going clear coat only, so I'm going to do both cherry and natural and see what happens. Thanks for the tip/idea.
Those floors turned out incredible! Really beautiful work, you guys. My hubby and I are full timers too and are just starting to change up the interior and make it our own. So satisfying! Cheers to you guys and maybe we'll see you on the road someday :)
Hi! I came across your youtube channel for the first time yesterday and I'm so glad I did! I'm enjoying watching the progress and how y'all handle the challenge head-on! I'm inspired! You both are very talented young folks! It is fun watching the progress and the new design you both are creating on your beautiful RV! Thnx for sharing! Keep-On-A-Rocking-N-A-Rolling!!!!
AWESOME...the floor is beeeeeuatiful. You two have become quite the craftsman. Cutting 22 1/2 degree angles...and you still have all your fingers. BTW: Congrats on hitting a 1000 subscribers. People know when they are seeing quality and reality combine. When are you starting the renovation of the airplane? Love Thursdays because of you guys!
I've got a ford Mobil traveler II similar to your rv, I think it's a 20', thinking about gutting it and renovating and going full time rv living! Love your vids!
Awesome! Good luck with the decision. If you want to get more of a perspective on our lifestyle, we were just featured on episode #64 of a podcast called RV Talk Radio. It goes into a lot of the details of our lifestyle and may be good for you to listen to.
Very nice project. Sorry Jenny I have to agree with Michael, you should've left the stain out. Darker color of stain makes the space dark and somehow smaller.
simplest way for me to get a pattern is to start with half a plank then move the whole strip all the way to the other side then start with the different width plank but use a whole plank the next row you start with the sawed of piece of the end of the first row etc etc
+Dwight DAYMEN We love the size! At first we thought it may be too big but have really grown into it. If it makes you feel any better, we could easily go smaller with less stuff because of maneuverability reasons so keep that in mind 🙂
Michael and Jenny, we are completely renovating an old bumper pull and I have enjoyed your detailed how to videos immensely! Thank you for all your time and effort to publish these videos! We want to do pallet flooring as well, and so want to know how yours is holding up at this time as well. Are you still happy with that flooring decision? What thickness did you plane your pallet wood to? What thickness subfloor did you lay? What size nails did you use? I hope to hear from you soon, as our carpenter friend is trying to talk us out of this and doing vinyl (yuck!)
Hello! Thanks for the awesome question. It’s holding up surprisingly well actually. We planed ours to about 4/10th of an inch. The subfloor was already in the RV and I believe it was 1/2 inch. The nails I believe were 3/4 inch and we wood glued the pallets together on the edges and nailed them to the subfloor. The wood putty really doesn’t work well to fill in the holes and has slowly started to crumble but it really doesn’t bother us. Another thing to consider is the amount of work involved. While it’s technically free flooring and feels good to upcycle, you need to factor in your time and it was a TON of work. Looking back, we are glad we did it and that we can say we did it and next time we will look into either doing this again or just finding an environmentally responsible, non toxic manufacturer depending on how much time/money we have. Hope this helps!
Duet Justus Wow thank you so much for replying...and so quickly! That info is of great help. Yes, we may be in a time crunch, but i do expect it to be a long process, and i think worth it if we can't find an inexpensive eco-friendly alternative. We have already collected tons of pallet wood, and i want to do a vinegar/steel wool stain. You two are awesome. Hope your travels are still enriching.
Amazing! I want wood floors in our home and hubby says NO! Our foyer is wood and so hard to keep clean because of the carpet from the 3 rooms off the foyer shed fibers and then there is the area rug that has to be vacuumed, so lots of cleaning equipment comes out to do that floor. A dust mop would be faster & easier! LOL
Haha we love the wood floors! all we need to do is sweep the dust and hair into the stairs and suck it all up with a small shop vac. It works great! Thanks for the comment.
The flooring turned out so beautiful and I love the wood stain too! I was wondering, when you started off with the "subfloor" is that the original flooring that came with your rv? Did you have to rip anything up to begin with?
Love wood. That floor turned out awesome. How much extra weight did it add? It should be a warmer floor I would think. Thanks for the videos can't wait until the final reveal.
So - I hate the carpet in our Winnebago. Our business involves the use of pallet wood - so I have *bookoo* (this is a technical term) amounts of pallet wood. Here is the thing - our 1998 Winnebago Adventurer has a slide. I don't know if pallet wood will work with a slide. Any thoughts?
Hey guys! Love that floor. Considering doing the same thing. But why would it matter if the original wood is pressure treated or not? If youre sealing it at the end doesnt it, well, seal it?
Hey there. The important thing to look for is heat treated pallet wood because there aren't chemicals used when treating the wood. We put a seal over the top to make sure to cover up any chemical spills that may have happened when the pallet was in use. Hope this helps :-)
I really admire what you are doing however unless you put down a moisture barrier expect some of those boards to buckle up or cup. Glueing them down to the floor would help prevent that. Hope it works out for you.
+houladog No, we haven't. The final reveal video that we just put out is the floor after 6 months and 8,000 on the road. It's held up way better than we were expecting. A week after we hit the road, we had to hammer down a few of the nails that were catching our socks but other than that... nothing. We are happy campers! Literally LOL 😀
My wife and I bought a 97 model bumper pull and all the things yall have replaced such as moldly walls and in our case, rotted floor joist, we had to learn on our own also. we love what you did on the kitchen counter and will do the same with ours, and we did learn from yall on the sky lights and caulking things up...your rv turned out very nice and you should be very proud of the job you accomplished.
Pallet wood is usually oak or another heavy dense wood not suitable for weight saving floor required in an RV.... but I have never seen the thin wood you call "pallet wood" was it run thru a planer many times?
Wow this was beautiful and I loved how as a team you could be totally honest with each other but still offer support and love back and forth. Just a lovely video. Thanks for posting it. Oh and talk about a cost effective floor. Excellent!
It's great to see such a young couple working so well together. You guys are good role models. And the floors look awesome:)
Making your own flooring is a ton of work. And that's before installing it. Small spaces take more time than people think. You all did an excellent job.
+64maxpower Thank you. We agree! It was super tough but totally worth it. We definitely couldn't have done it without all of the help. Thanks for watching!
Finally a video that not only shows but explains the process. Awesome job guys!
+Losaline Hanney Thank you! We love showing people how we did things. So glad you like it!
I loved it! I've been looking for video like this for ages. Love your work guys, keep it up! Cheers from Australia
You are amazing! Thank you for the support! -Michael + Jenny
Amazing... you are the best future parents ... of you kids you will make ...
All that wood must smell heavenly! Thanks so much for showing all the stages. I'm looking forward to trying something like this in my place.
Glad it was helpful! 🙂
I am totally impressed with your hard work and ingenuity!! 👌
Thank you! We were bless enough to have amazing wisdom and help along the way. We are very thankful.
Totally made me think of that commercial for, kix cereal? I think it was Kix. "Mikey. He likes it!" 🤣🤣🤣🤣
Looks even better then I expected. good work.
Love the flooring, a fantastic job, the RV's coming alive! Love it!!!!
Those floors do look amazing! Terrific job guys! You should really be proud of what you've accomplished to date!
Aww, Shucks! ;-P Thanks haha
Awesome video guys, thanks for sharing, peace and love from the UK :)
+Projects for Creative Minds Thank you for watching 😊
Oh, the floor is beautiful! I think the darker stain was the perfect choice. Jenny, you're so handy!
Thank you, Lorie! :-)
That floor is flat gorgeous!!!
Just like my bathroom, when you are doing it you wish you never started but once its finished you would not want anything else.
Thanks for sharing. Gary
That is such a great way of putting it!
We love your floors! I've been impressed that you never do a hurry up job or cut corners.
Floor looks amazing. You guys did a great job from getting the wood prepped all the way down to the trim. Good work.
You two made it look so easy, I know it has to be pretty crazy.
It was a very tough project but we love how it turned out :-)
I agree, no stain at all looks a whole lot better.
+Leslie Cruzado We definitely weren't sure how the walnut stain would turn out but we are extremely happy with it. Though, I'm sure we would have been happy either way because the floor is too stinkin cool to us haha.
Duet Justus I did learn a lot from your vid. Keep 'em coming. Taste varies from person to person. ;) Two thumbs up, guys.
Awesome use of reclaimed pallet wood!
+ReclaimedPalletCreations Thank you 😊
I love your videos. My husband and I want to live a more simple life like you and your husband. So guess what, we were inspired by you guys to do just that. Thanks and keep up the good work.
Those floors look Awesome.......Amazing guys....
So glad you like them. We are VERY surprised at how good they look considering we made them lol
The floor looks awesome
Thanks!
Nicely done. Always nice to see a home become more of a home as you work on it.
Whenever I do floors, I always miss the brightness of the natuaral wood. Now I am just apply polyurethane after sanding. Keeps it light and airy.
Thank you! We weren't sure how we would like it but are super glad we went dark.
Duet Justus It looks really good. The work put into it makes it all the more beautiful.
Outstanding!!!!! I'm trying to convince my husband to let me use pallet wood for my all new rustic kitchen countertops. He's not with me yet on using these but I'm not giving up!! You guys are doing an awesome job. I cannot wait to see final product.
Thanks, Stacy. We can't wait to show off the final product. Just a few more projects left!

You are truly a lucky man
2nd coat made it pop. Nice.
This is the most amazing DIY video I've seen yet! Thank you for your detailed instructions. Great job!
Thanks Debra! What an amazing complement :-)
WOW guys that really turned out nice! We have some laminate in parts of our house and it's total junk... this is so much better looking.
I have a friend who did their bathroom using palate wood and came out great like your floor
I'm re-watching these videos as I'm taking a stab at a mock up for my pending project. I like the idea of just going clear coat only, so I'm going to do both cherry and natural and see what happens. Thanks for the tip/idea.
There are to many people would take the time that you all did to make that floor look that good. Great job
Thanks Russ. It was a job for sure. We appreciate the positive vibes 😎
I am using similar white pine pallet boards for my 60 sq' tiny home, herring bone pattern.
Daniel Pratt So how did your floor turn out?
High 5's!! Looks awesome!!!
*High Five*
Those floors turned out incredible! Really beautiful work, you guys. My hubby and I are full timers too and are just starting to change up the interior and make it our own. So satisfying! Cheers to you guys and maybe we'll see you on the road someday :)

So, after two years have you had any problems with your pallet wood flooring? Expansion/contraction , especially with the moving vehicle?
I love this!!! I wish I was mechanically inclined...
Very nice project. Sorry Jenny I have to agree with Michael, you should've left the stain out. Darker color of stain makes the space dark and somehow smaller.
nice job
I liked it with 1 coat....
simplest way for me to get a pattern is to start with half a plank then move the whole strip all the way to the other side then start with the different width plank but use a whole plank
the next row you start with the sawed of piece of the end of the first row etc etc
I think that RV you have the perfect size would love to get rid of my 18 foot Trail light and find one like that

shop vac!!!!!
Thanks for the great vid. Hardly any videos on reclaimed rv floor

It is all about the Swiffer to quickly clean up hardwood floors. Put on a swiffer toilette, mop, & done. Great for animal hair, too.
I do use a Swifter in the kitchen and the part of the wood floor around the area rug. It is easier than a vacuum.
Haha we love the wood floors! all we need to do is sweep the dust and hair into the stairs and suck it all up with a small shop vac. It works great! Thanks for the comment.
nice floor..
That looks baller. A ton of work tho
Love the idea. I would of kept the floor color natural just my opinion. It still came out beautiful.
Hi! Loved your video. When you varnish you were using a liquid in a blue bucket to clean the cloth. What was that liquid? Water?
The flooring turned out so beautiful and I love the wood stain too! I was wondering, when you started off with the "subfloor" is that the original flooring that came with your rv? Did you have to rip anything up to begin with?
Love wood. That floor turned out awesome. How much extra weight did it add? It should be a warmer floor I would think. Thanks for the videos can't wait until the final reveal.
Thanks! The wood was mostly (80%) pine, so the wood was very lightweight. We love how it turned out and are surprised how well it is holding up.
Looks wonderful. Are you actually finished and living in the RV? I have noticed the very cold weather you are dealing with.
We have been living in it since March. We are having the time of our live and are so happy with how it all turned out!
Duet Justus 👍
you should have used glue and wood saw dust as the filler. it produces a almost natural look

Pull the filter off of the sander and put the vacuum hose in it

Super cool guys! Do you have any estimate on the weight?

Ronseal ... diamond glaze. Clear Floor varnish...
0:13- netshop that looks like R2D2
+Dwight DAYMEN haha
I really admire what you are doing however unless you put down a moisture barrier expect some of those boards to buckle up or cup. Glueing them down to the floor would help prevent that. Hope it works out for you.
The floors are working great so far! We appreciate the advice, though
Have yall had any probs with the floor lifting in places due to the chassis flexing?
+houladog No, we haven't. The final reveal video that we just put out is the floor after 6 months and 8,000 on the road. It's held up way better than we were expecting. A week after we hit the road, we had to hammer down a few of the nails that were catching our socks but other than that... nothing. We are happy campers! Literally LOL 😀

Jeeeeez, how close are your fingers to the blade on the miter saw!!!!!!!!!
how much roberts underlayment would i need for a 300 sq rv?
how do you adjust the pressure for the nail gun?
Pallet wood is usually oak or another heavy dense wood not suitable for weight saving floor required in an RV.... but I have never seen the thin wood you call "pallet wood" was it run thru a planer many times?
How has it held up to the rigors of driving on the road?
