DUDE. Absolute lifesaver. Sitting there reformatting Jasper AI's wack af code for hundreds of product descriptions that would take 10 people a month to write (and I'm 1 person) without Jasper takes SOOO LONG even with the replace tool. Your video made it 1 button. A+++ video.
Thank God - I've finally found a GOOD example of a Word macro! So many examples on TH-cam, and the internet in general, are so inappropriate (eg using macros where Styles or Building Blocks should be used). Thanks.
I am on an Apple Mac, so had to make a few adjustments to make it work. The search and replace function is not in the ribbon. An Edit/Find and and Edit/Replace did not record in compiling a macro. Instead, while recording, I had to go to Edit/Find/Advanced find and replace, and then enter the required search and replace fields. This worked perfectly. Thanks for your great help!
Hey Neil, Great video, I was hoping to get your thoughts on how to write a particular macro I have been looking at for a while. I would like to recreate a function from a program called EPIC used in electronic health records. Essentially, I want to be able to press the "F2" key to trigger searching "***" throughout my document. Every time I press the "F2" key, It searches the next instance of "***". When I reach any particular instance of "***" that I want to edit or modify, I simply start typing and it replaces the "***" with the free text I am writing. My efforts to use the macro's option in the world have been unsuccessful. It's a workflow that I am very comfortable with but hate that it is not an option on my word document, I think the utility of such an option is useful for: -stream of thought writing, -describing a problem and leaving a *** bookmark to come back and elaborate on this later. --a very simple way to subsequently search your text for the "***" bookmark and ease of editing at that moment.
Unfortunately, the only actions that the macro can autorun on are things like open, close, etc. Otherwise you'll just need to execute it with a shortcut or button press.
I am doing translation Sanskrit language work to Kannada language; 1 First I type Sanskrit word then put “=” Mark and then I type Kannada Language words and at end I will put “;” indicator to put an end the Kannada Translation. Then I will repeat this process for another Sanskrit word. Here For Sanskrit word I have One Font with different Color, Bold, attributes. For Kannada words on the right hand side of semicolon I have Different Font, color, bold attributes. Example होतारं = ಹೋತೃವಿನ ಅಭಿಮಾನಿಯಾದ ಅಗ್ನಿಯನ್ನು ಪ್ರೇರಿಸುವವನು ಅವನೆ; रत्नधातामं = ಪರಮಾನಂದ ಸ್ವರೂಪನು, ಮಹಾಧನ ಸಂಪತ್ತುಳ್ಳವನು ಕೊಡುವವನು ಅವನೆ Please note that Red color is one font (Adi Sanvedic), red color and bold. On right hand side of “=” I have Kannada font (Tunga) with different color. This step of formatting one block of text separated by ; i.e. left hand side with one font attributes and right hand side with another font attributes. Can you help me.
Sir, you have just changed my life as a proofreader & copy editor. Thank you

Hi, how can I make the macro runs automatically in a mail merge every time I merge to new document?
