- Finally checking oaxaca day of the dead off my bucket list after seeing photos on instagram of hierve el agua and watching disney’s coco. I’m so grateful to celebrate dia de muertos with local families at xoxocatlan cemetary and be a part of this beautiful tradition and culture. iId choose day of the dead over halloween in the US any day. I’ll have videos of just the oaxaca street food and the hierve el agua tour we took coming out soon!

I think it's a cool idea to gif zempasúchil flowers to the locals at the cementary so they can put them on their altar.
Yes! And we also laid flowers on the graves that weren’t decorated ~ locals said it means maybe their families weren’t able or are no longer around to do so ❤️

Great video. FYI, Coco was based on a town on lake patzcuaro in Michoacan. That is where Dia de los Muertos is from and is traditional. Oaxaca adopted the celebration but it origionates from Michoacan. Cheers

What day do they actually start having periods ? Before the ceremonial parts
I would say celebrations start a few days/up to a week of when Día de los Muertos officially starts (Oct 31, 2023) and ends on Nov 2nd 2023
Can you tell me the dates of each day? Like was "Day 1" the 29th of October?

Day 2- oct 30
Day 3- oct 31
Day 4- Nov 1
Day 5- Nov 2
Day 6- Nov 3
I'm confused as you went to the cemetary on the 31st.. I thought they celebrate on the 1st and 2nd?

I wish you had actual dates. I know it is celebrated on the 1st and 2nd of November. What date/day did you have your face painted?
I had my face first painted on Oct 31st! You can get it any day though - saw people the day before
I think you got your days confused in the video because you didn't have your face painted in the video on the 3rd day - 31st
When do the celebrations actually start ?
Día de los Muertos 2023 starts on Tuesday, October 31, 2023 and ends on Thursday, November 2nd 2023!
