      Lisa LeBlanc, I would like to say something about the origin of the icon of the Mexican Day of the Dead: "La Catrina" by the famous Mexican printmaker, cartoon illustrator and lithographer José Guadalupe Posada.
      The image of a female skeleton is dressed in European outfit from his upper class time. She is offered as a satirical portrait of those Mexican natives who, Posada felt, were aspiring to adopt European aristocratic traditions in the Mexican pre-revolutionary era. So "La Catrina" has become an icon of this Mexican Day of the Dead.

    Great to see all the celebrations and festivities in CDMX this year! We just left Oaxaca City where we observed Día de Muertos and it was incredible, although they didn't have any large, organized parades as normal due to covid. That didn't stop the decoration and small scale festivities though! Highly recommend Oaxaca City - great architecture, food, people and mezcal! We're in CDMX now and have really enjoyed the La Condesa and Roma Norte neighborhoods. Looking forward to the next video!

    El desfile inspirado por 007 fue solo en CDMX, en la mayoria de estados tenemos desfile de calaveritas o de catrinas desde hace muchisimos muchisimos años y la gente lo sabe, lo de cdmx si es por 007 eso es verdad, y ustedes ya son mexicanos saludos.

    • @maremagnus
      @maremagnus 3 ปีที่แล้ว +9

      No te confundas, visitantes que les gusta México no son Mexicanos de buenas a primeras, ser Mexicano implica muchas cosas no sólo hacer videos y hablar "bonito" de México y su gente
      Ya ves que hasta los nacidos en México s la primera oportunidad han vendido a su patria como si les perteneciera a ellos
      Ojalá no te olvides que los Pueblos Originarios son también Mexicanos por encima de estos "ya son Mexicanos" instantáneos y también abogues y los defiendas con la misma vehemencia que con la que aquí lo haces
      Saludos!

      El gobierno de la Ciudad de México pagó una cantidad para que la película de 007 tuviera una escena en el otrora DF. No fue idea de la producción de la película, si has visto la película, sólo sale la ciudad de México en las primeras escenas y luego EL RESTO de la película sigue en otro país.
      La Ciudad de México pagó para que está se promoviera en el mundo, y funcionó.

    just to clarify, the parade is not because of the movie, its has been doing very much before as a tradition, you can find videos on youtube about it... since the 60s and 70s... and it was a tradicional parade, even before the spaniards...

    would you say that the parade is worth it or can you not see well due to the crowds?

      The Parade is a blast if you’re already in town. Line up early for a good spot, but there’s lots of places to view! I will say though, the parade was much shorter than we expected!!

      @@timandfin thank you! I'm actually glad to hear that it's not long! I should have gone to the Catrinas parade yesterday, but whatever! yes, already in town so will likely just go. When in CDMX!
