  • @nswenson520
    @nswenson520 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

    I saw the same max temperature of 285 degrees F while climbing steep single track in 93 degree F weather. The motor heats up internally quickly if you overload the motor torque, even on PAS 3. Conversely, if you run at full power on the road, even with smaller hills, no problem with overheating. I've ridden 8.5 miles at max power, and temps are fine. I've also seen no issues after maxing temp out on motor, but could eventually cause issues. I'll try to limit power when I get the max temp in the future.

    • @heavyhitter8972
      @heavyhitter8972 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@nswenson520I've read that excess heat can demagnetize the powerful motor magnets and damage the insulation on the copper windings. On my Five Star if I run full throttle on flat roads it does start to overheat, but... I weigh 265lbs. I enjoy pedaling the bike though. Pedaling on PAS 5 is a lot of fun, the bike takes off like a rocket.

    Got my E-Cells 5 Star just a few days ago. Assembly was easier than expected thanks their video. Needed to make some adjustments to the brakes but then was ready to go. Mine even came with a free front basket that I didn't ask for! Your videos were the first to point me to this bike so of course I had to use Max100 to get my discount. So if the thermal camera only showing in the 50's is the screen giving false info on temps? Interesting, maybe its not actually in danger whatsoever. 100c being max per hentech. I hit 200f every ride, and have seen 250f. Per the display no other readings taken.

    Great vid. What seat are you using? I have tried 3 on my new 5 star and none are doing the trick yet. I am used to a more aggressive ride position where I have weight on my arms on a fixed tail MTB but this sitting straight up and down puts all the weight on the rear. Like sitting on a bar stool. Do you feel that cloud 9 cruiser in your link is the most comfortable?

      I have the cloud 9 seat suspension cruiser seat I just put on my five star I also ordered some cane creek 31.8 to 27.2 shims so I could put on a zoom suspension seat post maybe overkill but if your hauling ass and hit a pot hole I like knowing I have 3 suspensions between me and where all my weight is to dampen and smooth out the ride.

      Great job showing how much stress you can put on the bike before it overheats & shuts down. I am also glad you stated that about the 24” tires as it confirms I made the right choice. I opted for the 5 Star Step thru with the 24” tires. I have ridden the 26” & 20” fat tires & found I was much more in control on the 20”, so I felt the 25” was a perfect compromise. I know a lot depends on the wire coatings, but there's a limit as the windings themselves trap the heat from getting out to where it can be cooled.

    WOW Thank you for the hill & some real trail times.
    lol Im not to stable on ebikes & trails either, Im learning :)
    on motorbikes Ive done that for years & familiar with those, But an Ebike is very different.
    Thank you for showing it going up those.
    ok I was sold on the 5 star, but know "my" limitations and going with the step star when its released -
    really looking forward to seeing that [If I saw one Id likely buy it on the spot] lol
    I have a couple lill 750 watt ebikes for the places that require that Buut THere are miles of logging roads & trails here that are unused when hunting season ends. I want a step thru to go up those.
    any where a log truck can go I wanna ride an ebike there too.
    my motor bikes & ATV have been there, but I wanna ebike it.
    I will need to learn it, but to see the star go there lets me know I can too [with practice.]
    thank you for running those "real" trails in the woods :)
