My mother was cabin crew with British Airways in the late 80's to early 90's, usually was scheduled for the Lonson-New York flight (always 747's), those days the airline would provide staff holidays at massive discounts. Her best friend was senior cabin crew for Concorde so she managed fly on Concorde. These days she hates flying to holidays in Europe (not from fear, but lack of comfort, space and the stress).

As a former flight attendant I totally agree to all the things mentioned in this video!
And the most amazing thing is, that it doesn´t matter for what airline or in which country you work as a flight attendant: we all experience the same things, we all are responsible for the safety of our passengers, and we all experience the same way of crew life, no matter in what language or uniform.
To be a flight attendant is not a job. It is a lifestyle.
When I stepped off the airplane from my very last flight after 33 years, I also got pretty emotional with one crying and one laughing eye.
Crying because of leaving this extraordinary lifestyle, laughing because of looking forward to my well earned retirement (and no more ever-complaining ˋKarens´ 😂)

Why isn't Carlos a flight attendant anymore? He enjoyed his five years. If he was laid off in 2002, that it sounds like, things did recover and the airlines have been hiring on and off since. I remember the old headsets for the movies and music channels. They weren't electrical. Just plastic tubes that carried the sound from the armrest to your ears. Somewhere in my house I have an old pair or two. When I was younger, I applied to several airlines. None would give me the time of day for any position. I got a couple letters saying "thank you for your interest and we'll keep your application on file," which basically meant to go pound sand. That's O.K. I eventually went on to a successful I.T. career. No hard feelings. Their loss.

They mistakenly keep calling the L-1011 the DC-10. Most people I know LOVED the L-1011.

So, Carlos Dafonseca, who was apparently an FA from '97-'02, is talking about how great it was to fly on a 787 because the air quality was better when the 787 was first flown commercially 9 years after he stopped working as an FA??

@@coolguywithshades34 Then why should he be anymore of an authority than me, you, or anyone else who've flown on a 787 and at least one other aircraft? He's just schmo in a FA uniform.

The video messed up my dates. I worked from May 1997 until Oct 2022. So yes, I did work the 787 many times to Asia.

At 1:50 you confused a L1011 with a DC-10 and you call yourself experts 🤔...

Yes, it is an L-1011. I can always tell by that weird style engine on the rudder. The exhaust routes downwards towards the tailcone.

The 747 was my favourite jet ride. I flew business class. The drinks kept coming and the stewardess service on UNITED was wonderful. QUEEN OF THE SKY SHE WAS. SUPREME SERVICE WAS THE RULE THEN. GREAT MEMORIES. TODAY??? IT'S A BUS RIDE WITH BUMS.

Up until 2001 flying was mostly a pleasure...ever since then it's been on a downward trajectory. Cheap food, disgruntled passengers, unruly passengers, long security queues and short tempered flight attendants who seem to love nothing more than the sound of their own voice.

Are they commenting about a DC10 or L1011 as shown in the photo? Wasn't the L1011 the one with the elevators to the galleys? Though the L1011 was vastly superior to the DC10 (starting with that it did not crash). Anyway, it's a bit confusing.

@dailymail *I remember there was a time in the US the term changed from “Stewardess” to “Flight Attendant” (I dated a female pilot) if you called someone a “Stewardess. You got sternly corrected!* 🤔
