Interesting point. Steady state as the rowers base for improvements. I might have another point. What you guys think about leadership inside your crew? Is there instead of the coxwain a person in the eights, who probably should be a kind of leader? What are the responsibilities of this leader and what are / should be consequences of that leadership? Sometimes the behaviour of a new leader can be a bit strange, most time because of insecurity/uncertainness. How can the others react to help him?
I think every crew evolves in their own way. Sometimes this means that they have one leader pop up or maybe multiple. Other times the whole boat might share the load and everyone does different things to help the crew!
Jelly, breaded egg toast: the recipe for high performance rowing. 😁 That and many miles of rowing. Liking the voice over, enjoy a mix of voice, non-verbal rowing footage. More variation in leggings is good too, don’t be judging.
There are loads off ways people use their inner hand. Lots of people keep the hand tight all the time, some have their inner hand light on the bar. Why do you shortly lift your inner hand off the bar shortly after getting your blade out off the water? Whats your insight in this?
I'm not an expert but.. It's UT2 in heart rate band training and varies by your ability and fitness. You can use heart rate as a guide to intensity. I used this as a starting point. www.freespiritsrowing.com/forum/app.php/page/heart-rate-bands-calculator. I figured out a split to where my heart rate will gradually increase then level off at the median of the calculated band. I reckon that split will get faster over weeks and months.
It can vary depending on you as an individual and what you are using to measure, going off your 2k score, I have used the 12-15 seconds off for ut2 but that is not always correct, just like HR zones have variance too! Understanding how your body feels when in ut2 is a big part of understanding where your individual ut2 training band is!
I don’t think splits are very useful. My 2k split is about 30 seconds lower than my UT2 when I go off HR and cover the split up, very subjective topic.
I really like the narration during the row.
I think I'll be adding some more into the vlogs again! #yamsquad
Can you do a video of all the stretches pre and post rowing?
I have had a few requests for this so it might be time to do it!!

You're such a great rower.
Well thank you, there are a lot more rowers of a higher ability than me! Always room to improve #yamsquad

It's an automatic process right now. I would assume it is to allow the blade to freely be feathered as it comes out the water.
Cam should make a podcast
What exactly is the steady state zone of intensity? In there a general split you should hit? For example, 2k split+12?
