Driven a lot of these buses here in Australia. All of our metro buses back in the day were MAN and Merc buses directly imported from Germany, and then the wheels swapped over, and the body completed locally. We had most of the SL200 single deck, and SG280 artics. So many memories. Saw the game for the first time and knew what every button on the dash did.
I was waiting to see if you'd give OMSI a shot... definitely my favorite sim. A few points: 1. The temperature in the bus starting out low is because the temperature "outside" was low. OMSI sets the temperature approximately to the date; as is indicated by the map builder in the map global configuration file. When you changed the weather to "summerlike" the temperature outside jumped up. 2. The switch above the station brake that you kept flicking for the back door is actually the switch to lock the back door open - otherwise known as the "baby stroller switch". You don't need it during regular operation. In the BVG buses the back door is automatic, it is unlocked when you activate the station brake and is operated by the passengers. 3. The tours are actually quite important. Instead of jumping an hour+ every time on the same tour, you could have selected another one, the departure times for route 109 in hamburg are just a few minutes apart. 4. You actually started the ride by blowing a red light - the green showing was not for you but for the connecting street from the left. There was a special bus/tram traffic light on the right, which was showing a horizontal line. That means stop. A vertical or diagonal line means go - if it's diagonal, the go in the direction of the line. Also, you should have gotten into the bus lane in the center after the turn. Cheers :)
MartyTheGamer ECS hasn't had any updates in a long while though, they are busy working on ATS and to be fair if a coach mod for ets2mp would work right then that would be even better
I love that the street you spawned on is the street I have been at in Hamburg, and that big building that was behind the bus is Saturn, a big electronics store. And infront of the bus is the museum of art history, along with a mcDonalds. To the left, there is the main train station, along with a KFC and a lot of burger kings XD
I cannot believe it!. I don't know if this is just a coincidence but I actually asked S to play this a few weeks ago, now he is!!. I can't believe someone I love on TH-cam actually took some advice I gave it's awesome!..... Thanks S. Try to play with full Simulation settings, give people tickets, figure out how much change to give back etc, makes it more real and complicated. rather than just driving. You're the man S!
Hey Squirrel, i think the passengers complained at the end of the video, because you actually did run over the red light and you weren't using the bus lane :) Public transportation has its own traffic lights, they have the same order so reading them is easy, but use "-" for red, "." for yellow and "|" for green. The green one may also be "/" or "\" to indicate a green light for a right or left turn, same as the green arrows for normal cars. Greetings from Germany!
OMSI is the best bus sim out there. There is no other sim that allows so much modability and realism. The default map that comes with OMSI 2 is set in the 80s-90s in Berlin, but user made maps can be set in any place at any time.
The middel doors in OMSI works automaticly, the switch used in this video is for getting prams and stuff like that in, that takes a bit more time. but nice job else.
You went through a 'red' bus light. The two white horizontal bars on the traffic light above the left/right direction [blue circle] and give way sign [pavement] means stop. When it is your turn you get the third light which is like a white backward slash that means go. Those traffic lights are for busses. Trams have a similar one....like in some parts of the UK too. The 'normal' traffic lights were for the other two lanes. Thought I'd let you know. And yes the Germans complain a lot! I should know I'm half German! lol She said..."Where are you driving to then?" - Meaning you left early! lol
The best thing about your videos that you talk in good way that keep me enjoy the game and forget the time when i see your videos,,,,really nice.....keep going man
Finally!!!! And you explaining the buttons and heating was way more useful thatn any tutorial I've seen on youtube. But you did forget that you can also set the weather to current real weather. And why didn't you map more buttons to you G27...I barely have to use the keyboard at all and can control almost everything in the bus.
Jay K I have quite a few buttons mapped to the G27 actually, but since you can't see the G27 I thought it best to click buttons on the screen in order to help with peoples' understanding
Imagine you are getting on this bus, you approach from the drivers side, and you see this full grown Englishman playing with his squeaky window with the face of a three year old. Love the video Squirrel you should try Resistance and Liberation if you like realistic FPSs.
14:05 That "Quitt'g" doesn't mean "quit". It actually stands for "Quittung" or "Quittierung", which means you're submitting your entry or you get the receipt/acknowledgement.
U just ran oveer the red bus light squirrel, if they are set as in the video you have to wait until they get green. Those are special bus and tram lights in germany...:D hehe its great fun to watch your vid man! :D Greetings from Germany dude ^^
Great fun to watch. Went looking for other videos of this while waiting on part two but in general noone talks, just vids of different bus routes. My first thought upon seeing a passenger was hey it's "Mary, Mungo and Midge" all over again, old kids TV, Google it.
nice vid squirrel. When you set off too early, the woman complaind -"wie fahren sie denn, haben sie überhaupt einen Führerschein" - "what's up with your driving, have you even got a driving license?"
Melbourne Australia MyKi mode. Passengers swipe on and off. No tickets or payment available on the bus at all. Need a top up? Do it at the big stops or select service stations. Sometimes the swipe things don't work and you get a pile up of passengers trying to swipe off before getting off.
Brilliant video Paul you really explained it all perfectly I was worried about getting this because I wouldn't be able to understand it but now I have to do is keep this video open and it's a perfect play by play for bussing thank you and it was so funny when you streamed this lol

this isn't actually detailed....it's god damn SPOT ON. I am from Hamburg and I instantly recognized it. you started on the bridge crossing over the central station platforms. pretty cool !
I don't know if you noticed/know... you have a seperate light system (instead of green orange and red) for busses and in general public transport... you might look into it!
FINALLY! I've been waiting for this for a long time! Thus game was made by Aerosoft which you will recognize as an FSX Add-on Publisher. I really love this game because it's the best of it's kind and has amazing detail. Squirrel, you should dabble in the mod community!
What you forgot to mention is the huge community behind omsi with great free maps and busses. There are only a few addons compared to the amount oof good quality maps and busses out there :D
Bus drivers only use neutral when getting out of the cab or shift changeover - we never take it out of Drive. Start up sequence is a bit longer as there are more warnings, etc. For a game, etc. do what ever you like.
Great video I can't remember off the top of my head but if u push one of the buttons on the I bus system it will do the bus stop announcements automatically
The roller destination didn't set because when you went into the set destination menu you need to highlight the destination before you click ok or it will not set the destination and only set the line number :)
If you want to play around, after you turned the engine on, turn off the electronics. The engine fans will stop and if you drive long enough your engine will get really hot and catch on fire! Upvote so he can see this please :-).
25 mins in and you are now just driving lol. Im glad u went through all the steps though. I have been interested in this game for some time but its alittle pricey and looks a tad intimidating.
the screeching of the bus when u press q maybe announcements, its not like it idk why and the tiny lever about the second door ur wrong,it makes door open until u switch it back maybe for baby strollers etc, there is a button for it outside
As OMSI has quite a history, I think you should know, that its not so much about the graphics and more about the "simulating experience" and the depth of it. The longer you play the game, the better you might become as a bus driver. The physics aare very good indeed and also you need to aquire some skill as a driver. In that regard OMSI is not as badly programmed as EURO TRUCK SIMULATOR. OMSI feels a lot more real. I know of a driving school instructor who uses OMSI to get his students learning some of the important routines needed for driving large vehicles such as buses. Everything is programmed to scale which means the roads aren`t as wide as in other "simulators".
Looks to be a real life simulator, much like work. If a english version were released I might try the game. As you mentioned several times an unstable game at times. Still part 2 of this should be cool to watch.
If you press the clutch on you g27 it will actually advance the IBIS to the next station and on more modern buses you get the anouncement for the next station and you should do it after you set off, not while still stopped. But more importantly, how did you get the IBIS to work with an SD bus in Hamburg?
I played the first one and thought it was really unique now really tempted to get this one, would love to see a bus sim of this type in accurate modern day London with the original Route masters of course :)

Nothing better than slamming the brakes, hearing the squealing and inevitable shouting of "scheisse" in OMSI
@Quinton238 that's what she said.

We need a UK bus simulator, a decent one set in a big city... but hey ho, doubt that will ever happen for a good few years (if ever)
And when a customer hands over £20 you kill them
seen lot of british mods for this game

those are euro(cent)s, not deutsche marks
actually the 5 euro note did look like a euro note... so did the lady with the coin
Should be DM if it's in the past.
Dusan Pesic Well it should be Deutsche Marks as the bus is from the 90s and the DM was in use until 2002
Its a new 5 euro bill
Cash is Euros. Tickets say DM on them I think which would be Deutsche Marks. Oh well, not bank simulator so no big deal.
