    I feel ya man, those ammo cans are rough to engrave. Whenever we engrave one you can smell it even outside for a while after we are done. The paint is usually really adhered quite well to the ammo cans. Our deepest condolences to the Hall family.

      Yeah it was rough stuff but we ended up with something really nice for them so I was excited to do the work.

    I just did an ammo can and am thrilled with the look! However, im curious if you know if the bare metal will rust? If so, do you have any suggestions for sealing?

    if you find yourself engraving multiple items that are the same, it wouldnt be too difficult to make a jig so that that the product can remain centred and squared each and every time, personally i would have used fibre on that substrate, the bright finish is superior to CO2

    Did I miss it or did you say what size lens for the fiber laser? Looks really good

    • @LaserEverything
      @LaserEverything  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Its been a minute but I'm fairly sure this was done with a 150mm lens.

    Wow was I the only one when the co2 was burning that thought it needed a second pass? Magic eraser and IPA and wow I was impressed.

    Wondering why you split it between co2 and fiber? Also if you could do it without limitations of devices would you choose diode/co2/fiber?

    I did ammo can yesterday for a customer it easily took off the green paint but did not get the the shiny metal. It was a light gray color. . I’m looking for gray color or a shiny metal.

    That paint survives wars and fires.... It'll be fine. Also think that stuff is still lead based...

      @@LaserEverything when I was in Iraq we had one that we used to light a fire in one to keep warm while on guard, after several months of us doing this we had got given a new one, the old one we cleaned with a green scrub pad and a bit of dawn, wasn't hardly any discoloration on it at all

    Careful with the ammo can paint, not sure if it’s the same as what is on military vehicles, at least it seems like a similar paint. We had to mess with some of it in maintenance at my unit when I was in the Army. The paint I’m thinking it might be is called CARC, I’m including a link for you on it. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chemical_Agent_Resistant_Coating
