    You may be better off making your presets for various types of leather: veg-tan, oil tan, chrome tan, etc. Each will engrave & cut much different. Be wary of chrome-tan due to the gases emitted.
    Also, be careful of the depth. Once you remove the grain, you can compromise the strength and durability of the leather. As you know, you’re better off using a CO2 since it’ll remove less of the grain while giving you more of a contrast -- especially on veg-tan leather.

    • @LaserEverything
      @LaserEverything  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Yes this is just a starting point for people. Obviously a specialized setting for each type is highly preferred. Of course a CO2 would be better but many discord members have reached out asking about this topic specifically so just trying to help people out who only have one machine :)

    • @LaserEverything
      @LaserEverything  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Typically I'd say avoid it. By the time the fiber spot is hot enough to actually do anything to the wood it's on fire. I'd recommed a CO2 laser instead, or if you're on a tight budget check out some of our Diode laser reviews which get great detail and work very well with wood.

    Does the fiber lasers works with synthetic leather (leatherette)?

    • @LaserEverything
      @LaserEverything  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      They should but the settings are going to be wildly different. Probably a lot less power - make sure you do NOT use leatherette containing PVC as it's extremely toxic and can kill you and destroy your machine.

    Will this apply the same with “pleather”? Thanks and great video.

    • @LaserEverything
      @LaserEverything  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      No, this is gonna be for leather leather. We'll be covering leatherette (laser safe leather, often seen with 2 tones/colors), but they are generally handled very gently. With "pleather" being a generic term, be careful and aware that some fake leathers are very much not laser safe, and may contain pvc/vinyl which is not only damaging to your machine, but deadly to you. If you can, validate what the actual material make up is to confirm its not any type of vinyl or pvc.

      Omtech makes decent gantry machines but I don't trust their galvo equipment and don't recommend them for that kind of hardware. Spending more on a solid unit for galvo op lasers is highly advised. Check out the Mactron machines I use linked in the description instead.

      @@LaserEverything thanks I would get the mactron 50w, but how long is the wait to get one. Want to use it for firearms and leather, what do you suggest and if I buy it from the link in the discription, wouldn't it take 6months to get to me? Please let me know what and where to buy. Looking forward to leaning with your channel.

      @@ChrisRoutson They're made to order which is one of the things I love about them as a company is that they aren't trying to offload some warehouse backstock on you, you're getting exactly what you need.
      That said I'm getting my third laser from them right now. Typical wait time for me has been about two weeks to build, two weeks to deliver so not bad at all. Just add the 50w to your cart and send them a message (direct message the shop on aliexpress or email them with the email from their header image) with the load out you've selected and have them confirm it before you check out. Pretty easy. Their staff is amazing and they really care about what they do and their customers. I don't think you'll regret it.
