Hey you... yea you... you wanna be a cloud main? I got some tips just for you....trade secrets.... Cloud’s Up special is a wonderful out of shield option. Nearly unpunishable, does around 18% if all hits connect. Don’t go for finishing touch very often. Personally, finishing touch is one of my favorite moves to hit, but the risk is not worth going for. If you’re up one two stocks and want to go for disrespect, then by all means, go for it. Be sure to know the exact numbers for it to kill, so check into that if you’re having trouble Triple Buster is awesome, but like finishing touch, it can be hard to hit. Thankfully, it is still decent to use as a hard punish on your opponent if they miss a tech or other hard reads Forward tilt. Use it. Don’t fall into the habit of using side smash as your main kill option. It’s much faster, and can kill at decent percent. Up smash is also a good option as well As a general rule, don’t go too far off stage. Cloud excels at stage control and he’s super easy to gimp. So for the love of god, CHARGE LIMIT! Please, just charge limit. If you really need that spike, use down tilt at the very edge of the stage to knock them up, then use forward air to send them down. Cross slash is your best friend. It is annoying, sure, but doing a guaranteed 23.5% is worth it. Limit break blade beam can catch people who sit on the ledge. It kills at decent percentages, but you’re foe won’t fall for it again. The spike for the forward air is hard to hit when you pick up cloud. Just be patient, practice. Just keep playing matches until you get the hang of it. (Then again, I couldn’t hit the forward air at all...) Up-Smash is also a good out of shield option. Comes out pretty fast, at least for a smash attack. Don’t charge it. Blade beam is usually an instant kill in sudden death. Play final fantasy seven. It’s great and I like love it. These are just some tips for you my friend. You need to learn for yourself. Good luck...
That doesn’t mean you’re bad. That just means you screwed up super bad at the end and the momentum completely shifted. If you had a three stock lead, you must’ve been doing pretty solidly before the screw-up.
you can use cross slash's first slash to give you a bit of horizontal movement at the peak of your double jump, helping you recover a bit. it might be small but it’s saved me countless times
Finally the kind of character guide I’ve been looking for. Nice and short and fully covers all moves and features, not some painstaking 25 minute long video that’s only part 1 of 3 like all these other crazy smash ultimate guide vids. Perfect tutorial, thanks for this.
As a cloud main, I often use the up special in moments of losing a juggle. That way I can end the juggle usefully. It can work, depending on the opponent.
Hey Choctopus! Big fan of this series. Had a suggestion. Maybe before you start talking about the moveset, give a brief overview of maybe the top 3-5 best and worst matchups for the fighter you’re reviewing. As someone who always looks to play new characters to counter all my friend’s mains, it might be helpful! Doesn’t have to be in depth as to why theyre good or bad matchups
Some tips from someone who won locals as cloud: Up-b out of shield is amazing. Though it's a meme, it is very fast OOS and does a solid 18 percent. Charge limit at very short bursts during the match. For example, a tiny bit at the start of the game, then charge limit in neutral/advantage state. While limit cross slash is an amazingly fast kill option, it is punishable for a side smash from practically every character. Clouds tilts are amazing. Up tilt combos into up air at low-mid percents, and forward tilt and down tilt both act as ledge guard tactics. Practice two framing (hitting an opponent before they gain invincibility by reaching the ledge) with dash attack. Cloud aerials are also great. Nair and Bair are INCREDIBLY safe on shield, forward air is good for edge guarding cuz it had a good, disjointed hitbox. You should never try to use limit charge down b (finishing touch). The hitbox is actually quite smaller than the visuals on screen, while also being punishable. Fast falling d-air is a safe way to escape juggle scenarios or disadvantage state. Honestly, cloud has poor throws and grabs. They send your opponent too far away and don't combo well. These are simple tips that weren't fully explored in the video. Choctopus made a great breakdown and he covered many of the beginner and some intermediate aspects of clouds game. Please feel free to comment some questions, I will be happy to answer them.
I know this comment was made quite a bit ago but can I say this is incredibly helpful?!! I started playing as Cloud recently and decided for my local smash tournament at the end of the month I’d play as Cloud… and I’m trying to get as good as possible, since it’s in 15 days. Thank you so much for these tips !
This helped a lot! I’ve been having a hard time finding a wi-fi main, and it’s starting to look like cloud is my guy. He’s the only one that’s really fun for me online. can’t wait to try out these combos 😁
it's a little more complex than that, you also have to spam neutral b, side b when they get close, up b when they jump, and down b when they're off stage
As a general tip, respect his range when he jumps and shield his aerial aproaches, then punish him IF he is landing on you, otherwise keep patience. The best places to engage Cloud are on the ground close and far range (since his best options are mid range aerials and has very poor answers to proyectiles), and off stage (because of his linear and limited recovery). Most Cloud players I have seen space and spam their aerials very poorly so try to patiently shield them on the ground then grab them when they land or punish whith your fastest out of shield option. And lastly Clouds best stance is facing away from the oponent to engage with either back air or up air so be careful not to try and chase him, better wait for him to turn around or force him to with pressure of your own.
Cloud is my main in Ultimate. And I can ROCK him. Now, thanks to your video, I'll be able to make my son even angrier that he can't beat my Cloud with his Roy 😂
cloud’s f smash can kill middle weights at around 90 to 80 percent in the middle of the stage. He can kill opponents at 60 or 70 percent at the side of the stage if they are middle weights.
Hm i wonder if you finish this series would you consider making a new Series that talks about How to Counter this character? It will be new since most people who do character guides never talk about how to counter a certain move or so
I usually fill up the limit bar almost full, andvthe when the enemy starts attacking me, i get limit and can toss out a strong attack to disrupt thier combo.

Great guy. This is my first cloud tutorial I’ve watched and you’re the first comment. Way to set the tone for our squah
This comment was better then the guide tbh
Garren Stevison my main is cloud so thanks!
You can't play Cloud correctly until you press Neutral B 8 frames after the announcer says "Go!"
You forgot about the part where he then uses neutral air until you reach 80 percent, at which he spams f-smash
So charging Limit to around 60% meter at the start of the match is a bad call? Guess I need to adjust my stratergis, then.

How to play cloud
Plug in your Wii U, boot up smash 4
Also take a shot everytime he says good range
The Wii U doesn't exist.
