Sad to hear that the Carnival is no more. As a lad, we used to walk down from Peak Lane to take part. The Wheatsheaf was my local and I learnt to swim in the Meon behind the Fisherman's Rest. So long ago....
They can be the bain of our lives as walkers Dave can't they. I couldn't get over having to walk through inches thick horse doo and then being met with those ridiculous styles . I was a bit cross 😁

Yes it used to be a great carnival different to most.
Love this area, actually got married in the barn/theatre and had photos taken at Abbey and on the fish pond :-)
