    Such a helpful video! Just filmed my first professional video and decided to shoot SLOG instead of Sony’s PP for the first time and was a bit daunted by the colour correction - I normally start with basic correction then move into the other realms but it just wasn’t working for me so went looking for answers and found your video. Thanks for the awesome tips 😊

    Hi Matt. Thx a lot for your tutorials - they are awesome! And I really like the way you present them!
    I at least bought an A7S2 and just learned from you to take pp8 with cine. That’s what I did - and as it is not that flat, it yet looks pretty good… You know, it’s my first real cam - I come from iphone cinematography… 🤪
    Now my question: is the colorgrading-process shown here the same for my cine-MattFlat on my A7S2?
    Or do I have to do anything else for getting these results?
    Cheers, Jens

    You don't need to go to the effects panel to copy the Lumetri color. Just right-click on the clip and click copy. Then when you go to paste it you specify that you want to paste Lumetri color (if you've added other effects, you can uncheck those boxes).

    Hi Matt, I have waited for this a long time, because there is nothing quite like it. So, thank you very much. I also do like your word creations, like "Hero-Shot" :-)
    I have just a few questions, if you would be so kind to answer:
    - In the intro you display Gamma: S-Log3 and Color Mode: S-Gamut3.cine. I do know that this is your preferred Picture-Profile when it comes to 8bit video. Since it can not be stretched too far, befor you are loosing out. So here is the question: Was this made in 8bit, or does it only apply to 10bit?
    - I was surprised to see that you are working the clips directly. Was this for demonstration purposes? Why not make use of the adjustment layers? Or do you see an advantage in applying the process directly to the clips.
    Thanx again - you are my Post-Production Hero!

    First off, great tutorial. Thank you Matt, always a fan, even though I use Final Cut.
    But question: What are the advantages of shooting in S-log in low light scenarios? My understanding of the advantages of log profiles in general is that it can capture more dynamic range between the highlights and the shadows, so I totally understand using S-log outdoors during the day. But what about in low light, like the reception scene in your tutorial? There's obviously no bright sky in the background, and I personally feel like all the information can be captured sufficiently enough in Cine4. Cine4 has more range than the default PP, doesn't require a higher ISO to overexpose, and doesn't require as much time to color grade. So... am I missing something here?

    • @whoismatt
      @whoismatt  3 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      That’s a good option as well. For my filming style where I’m filming run and gun very quickly, I don’t necessarily want to add having to change the picture profile as well (and remember what I am in). :)
