Zhang Jike truly loves the sport.A lot of people are referring to this act as "bad sportsmanship", however in my opinion "bad sportsmanship" only really applies if it is directed at the opponent. In this case it is very personal. Since winning the World Championships for the second time in 2013, Zhang Jike has struggled. He became de-motivated, which is completely understandable as he has achieved more than anyone in Chinese table tennis and got to the point where he felt there wasn't more to achieve. But, he was reminded by his coach that a second grand slam is an un-presidented achievement, and is something that Zhang is in the position to achieve. I believe this celebration is a release/statement to all the critics who said that Zhang Jike was done. He showed in this world cup that he is still capable of beating the best and that his mentl strength in big tournaments in un-rivaled. This was a great win for ZJK, and although the celebration is over the top, it is also completely understandable. He has the heart of a champion, he shows passion towards the game. Well played Tibetan Mastiff.

I personally like his style and passion. It would be truly sad that if he won't be given a chance to play the next Olympics, which I believe he will achieve a dual grand-slam.

+PingGSY I applaud his celebration. I felt a release from him because Ma Long has always been in his way as far as ranks for the longest & the chance of playing him for the World CUp besides Wang Hao was a true test for him. But unmotivated or not, it doesn't faze Ma Long because he swept Zhang twice when Zhang played 100%. You see now they always go down to the wire. Congrats to both. They played some god-like table tennis.

I remember both of these players came to NZ for the world junior circuit back in 2003. I was always amazed at how well they played back then, but I would've never have guessed that they would turn out to be 2 of the best players in the world

I think Zhang s style is like judo. He is not blasting through like the other greats, like Tae Kwon do. Partly, he uses the opponent's strengths against them. And is very efficient.

The whole day Zhang had the crowd kind of against him, for sure when he played Timo, which was to be expected, since Timo was playing at home, but it struck me to see that in the final the crowd was cheering Ma Long the whole time, even the Chinese group of spectators. It must have felt to him like a huge relief to win, certainly accentuated by the fact that he did it against the odds and despite the fact that almost no one wanted him to win.
None the less, it was very bizarre to see him act that way, I could not believe my eyes when I saw him kick the fence, and even more so when he did it the second time, in front of the Chinese stand. Not a nice example for the kids in the hall.
But after the first shock everybody cheerd for his win and he was graceful in admitting his mistake.
Maybe table tennis will get some publicity like this... bad publicity is also publicity?

ts Posible he was the most natural talent table tennis player, yours matchs with Ma Long are legendarys and It will be remembered as the best in the history of this sport

Nobod could feel the tension of him at that moment. It's pretty normal what Zhang Jıke has done and harmless to anyone. I admire his playing style. He is the Golden boy of TT for next 15 years.

Chinese vs Chinese tt is very fun to watch. This match looked like a training match sometimes. Both played great. I feel that Ma is getting more and more "touch" with time. He didn't went into beast mode, what he sometimes does when he faces a strong opponent.

Outstanding match. Sadly the last great victory of Zhang Jike. After that he slowly deteriorated(faster than any other player. Just like Stephen Hendry in Snooker. For me they are like O Sulliven Vs Hendry) and became nobody. As a player I really liked Zhang Jikes style. His backhand dominated close quarter play. But every good thing has to end.

Why Zhang D: first when you were young, you got kicked out of the team cause of your aggressive behaviour. Then you came back and became more calm and won all 3 major titles, then you died down from the scene for a while in 2013 after your win at paris, you became more calm and less arrogant, WISE! ZJK reputation and achievements parallels much like Lin Dan in badminton. Known as cocky and arrogant but when it comes to major events, he wins and wins em all. Ma Long is no doubt, one of the most talented player ever but like Lee Chong Wei, always comes up short when it counts the most.

Shame such a good match is being overshadowed by the win celebration. Anyways, back to the actual game. You could really see in the backhand to backhand exchanges, Ma Long was losing a lot of those to ZJK who has the stronger attack there. Would have liked to see Ma gamble and step around a few more of those for the forehand. Great, close game.

It's a great match. Ma and Zang both of them given their all in this match. Respect to both of them. But somehow in the end the outcome of the celebration was in odd fashion. Kicking is hugely respected in the match of soccer or football games. But in this institution, kicking is not really in the syllabus of respect. The ground, the board, the fence, the ball, the racket.. everything is respectful. Every player should respect this institution. No player is greater than the game. First you love the game, restpect the game..then player comes next.

It looks like Jike was more about making a statement " I'm still the best" then worry about losing prize money. Never the less, he is good talent, but no need for this type of behaviour. Fans along with Sponsors are the reason why he has made a name for himself, other wise players like Waldner and the greats before you will still playing at the local club for little trophies and a gift card. Pay some respect!
