I couldn't crack the 5mm Derailleur hanger bolt. I have a similar 5mm p-tool and it is practically twisting the tool when I'd crank on it. It wouldn't budge! I tried some WD40 on it too. Unfortunately, I stripped it a bit - where if it wasn't so tight, it would still be ok, but was too tight to try more without more stripping. Anytime you change a freewheel, the derailleur will need to be adjusted. Here is a video on how to adjust the Tourney derailleur -- th-cam.com/video/XruQZWMFy9k/w-d-xo.html
Got my 11-34T freewheel on and it went perfect because I watched your vids. Now I have the Derailleur on per your video and its almost perfect. Its shifts fine from 2nd to 1st. and 6th gear to 7th gear but in between on 3,4,5 gear I have a tiny bit of chain rub or the grinding sound while pedaling. No background noise or music. Just clean narration. Thank you for posting these.
That's awesome and thank you! Sounds like you need to use the barrel adjuster a little. Probably back it out a tiny bit and see if that helps. If your middle gears are having issues, it's a cable tension problem and the barrel adjuster will tension or loosen the cable depending on whether you back it out or screw it in. Backing it out will tension the shift cable and screwing it in will loosen the shift cable. As for chain oil, I like Finish Line E-bike Chain Lube for ebikes -- amzn.to/39bxdFR

They offered to either send me a cable to do it myself but told me they preferred that I take it to a bike shop to have it replaced. @@PedalWithPower That would be great, thanks! I figured that's what it was but my biggest issue is that just by looking at the shifter, I'm not seeing how to pull the cable out through it.

Thank you for all the effort you put forth on these vids. My son and I recently picked up a couple XP 2.0s, and I also ordered a couple upgraded derailleurs and looking forward to making the swap. I do have one question if you'd be willing to weigh in. I already upgraded to the 11-28 freewheel and with the current stock derailleur, I'm experiencing clacking sounds in 6th gear ONLY. I'm hoping the new derailleur will solve the issue, but I cant help wonder if the problem lies with the freewheel. Just seems odd it would only be one gear as the problem child. Thanks again and keep up the great content. -Josh
That's great that you are doing the upgrades! 👍 Generally, if you're having clicking issues in any of the middle gears (2-6) then it's a cable tension problem. Use the barrel adjuster to tension and detension the cable. The new derailleurs will need to be adjusted when you install them. It also could be a bent or broken tooth, just on that 6th gear. Examine it closely. Are both bikes having the same issue?
@@PedalWithPower So I've only installed one freewheel so far, I have attempted to adjust the barrel adjuster, but any gain in the slightest tension only makes the clacking worse. I might just go ahead and install the new derailleur and see if that clears things up, if not I think the suspect would be the freewheel. At least amazon makes it easy to play the replacement game.
Any advice if I’ve stripped the mounting bolt for the derailleur? Used your tool list but my bolt was so tight it stripped instead of loosening. Thank you for the videos, you’ve taught me a lot.
Bummer, stripped bolts are no fun. You can try using a torx wrench, maybe a T30 or T35 and see if it will bite. If not, you may have to grind a notch into it and use a large flathead screwdriver. Unless you can grab it with a vice grip. You can drill it out with a small drill bit, but be careful not to drill out the threads in the hanger. There's no easy solution. If those options sound sketchy, then I'd take it to a good bike shop.
Hi Chris, I put the Acera rear on my 2.0 about a month ago and the shifting is much smoother and more precise - nice upgrade at a low cost - I have a 7 speed DEORE LX from another bike I had in the early 90's but do not want to waste it on the 2.0. I also put a cassette hub cover on my motor ($15.00 from China used) on my 2.0 in lieu of the freewheel, I wonder if we could squeeze an 8 speed in there ? thanks and Ride on
Nice Will! Yeah, an old Lx, Xt, or even an old XTR would work well. Those older derailleurs are gold though. An 8 speed might work if you remove the spacer behind the freewheel, but it won't expand the gear range and you'd need a new shifter. I'm good keeping it 7 speed.
YES I agree with that, I do have shimano deore trigger shifters (7 speed) that I was going to put on my XT but I think the push button and lever one that came with it works well and is easy to access above the bars. I put a 54 tooth chain ring on the front as well and it works good and the chain has never came off. My greatest addition was a 20 AH battery on the rear rack which really extended my range and it also seems to give the motor a little more torque for come reason, maybe delivering more amps ?? ride on Chris
Hi Larry, I like the KMC master links -- amzn.to/3yd2m6C They are sold in packs of 6, so you'll have extras 👍 I also leave links to everything I use in the descriptions of the videos (tools, parts, bikes, accessories, Pedal With Power Merchandise😁, etc..)
Chris, I have the new 11/34 freewheel and removal tool now, and plan to install it on my 1.0 XP when things warm up around here. I am lacking a nice shop to work in, so have to do the job on my driveway. I am wondering if my original derailleur is good enough for this job, or should I plan to change it out too? It will probably be a little more difficult to have the chain climb up on that bigger gear.
@@PedalWithPower I put on a Draft Maniac 11-34 with a stock derailure. No matter what I do, won't go into low gear unless I physically lift the chain. Guess I'm going to get the replacement and hope that cures it. I did take out the spacer that you left in. You think that might be an issue. Thanks for the great videos.
My wife is 5'2". Just fits on the 2.0 XP Step Through with the comfort seat option, which raises the seat height up. I'm borrowing a short seat extension tomorrow to see if giving her that extra inch is worth it.
Hey I followed your guide & upgraded to the 11-34t & also upgraded to the Acera. Unfortunately, either I'm not setting the Acera up correctly, or some component is now messed up. When i switch from gear 7 towards gear 1, it will not switch for a while. It only begins to switch when I hit the number 5, meaning I can't reach Gear 2 or 1 since the shifter stops there. Does this make sense? Any ideas? Appreciate it
Hey I adjusted the barrerl adjuster and the two screws. Now I can access every gear but the biggest. When I switch from 7 down to 6, nothing happens. So when switching down, I can only get to gear 2. Any idea how I can get down to gear 1? I adjusted the high screw a lot already
Hi D A, yeah it sounds like your cable needs more tension and the lower limiter screw is too tight. I'll have a video up soon on how to adjust the Acera derailleur. In the mean time, shift into gear 7. Now back out the barrel adjuster to add tension untill it shifts into gear 6 with 1 click. That will tension the cable properly. Then in order to get into the lowest gears, 6 & 7, you need to back out the low limiter screw. It the on on the back of the derailleur, at the bottom. If you look close you'll actually see a small "L" stamped into the derailleur. Keep backing it out untill you can shift all the way into gear 7. Just don't go too far or it will shift past 7 and into the spokes. I'll try to get the video up by Tuesday 👍
I think I still need the tutorial. The problem is actually that I can't get to the 34 tooth gear. When I'm switching from the 11 to the next biggest gear, it doesn't switch, but then afterwards it does, and it switches all the way up to the gear before the 34t

My greatest addition was a 20 AH battery on the rear rack which really extended my range and it also seems to give the motor a little more torque for come reason, maybe delivering more amps ??
ride on Chris
will this work for the 3.0?
Hello Chris, What type of master link did you use to connect your Lectric chain. I want to order the correct one. Thank you!
Hi Larry, I like the KMC master links -- amzn.to/3yd2m6C
They are sold in packs of 6, so you'll have extras 👍
I also leave links to everything I use in the descriptions of the videos (tools, parts, bikes, accessories, Pedal With Power Merchandise😁, etc..)
It'll still work. Just something to consider down the road
@@PedalWithPower OK. Thanks!
Are the jockey pulleys on the acera made of metal?
No.
Can you tell me what the Lowest Height of the seat ? Great Video ✌️
Sure, with the seatpost all the way down -
From floor to top of saddle is 32"
From center of crank to top of saddle is 19"
My wife is 5'2".
@@da6640 Sorry, I meant it sounds like you need a little more cable tension, Try backing out the barrel adjuster a little more.
I think I still need the tutorial. The problem is actually that I can't get to the 34 tooth gear. When I'm switching from the 11 to the next biggest gear, it doesn't switch, but then afterwards it does, and it switches all the way up to the gear before the 34t
@@da6640 Your cable tension is too loose, try backing out the barrel adjuster a little more
