Toll Free Traveller does not treat this as a rat race, instead enjoys every little good thing and that's what makes this channel super special. I used to watch TH-camrs constantly upgrading from one bike to another until I got bored and unsubscribed. Rohit - i have a question for you and hoping I would get a equally honest response. Just like what you mentioned if we just go out of city and into the country side or in the ghats etc we see so many folks relying on such ~100cc bikes for their daily chores and they ride it in all possible terrain where we generally take things like a xpulse or adv390 . If something breaks for them its far more easy and affordable to fix it than the higher capacity siblings. But coming to city daily use - even for a person who might be having like "big bike" does it really make sense to have a 100cc bike like this as a daily commuter ? Would you choose something like this or a splendor as your city commute bike over a xplulse ?
When I worked in Mumbai, even though I used my bike as a daily commuter, I didn't want a practical bike because riding the bike was the highlight of my day and I had a short(ish) commute and safe parking. If you start changing those factors - if i had to spend long hours on the bike, or had to park on the streets everyday - then I would have opted for something that is easier to ride, gives better mileage, requires less maintenance and generally blends in better. So, I guess, it won't be a one size fits all answer - but there is no doubt that smaller capacity bikes are the more practical way to do it.
why do I feel like going and riding the Radeon now? 😂 I haven't ridden a 100cc bike in a very very long time. The first bike is rode was when i was in 6th, it was the RoadKing, i sat on the edge of the seat and my uncle let me pilot the bike on a open ground, my feet could only reach the foot pegs but that moment is etched so clearly in my memory. The first 'bike' i rode on my own was the Splendor, 22 years ago. That was a brief ride and I never got to ride a bike for another 5 years until got my Unicorn, on which i learnt riding properly. But coming back to 100cc bikes, the new ages ones obviously perform a lot better, may be closer to the older 125s or even better. Also, unpopular opinion, as you age(mature may be?), you tend to not want to rev the nuts of the engine in the city between signals, you calmly putter around at moderate speeds and enjoy the ride and for that purpose these bikes make sense. And an added advantage is if you park a 100cc bike anywhere chances of ppl messing with your bike are far too less 😅
