Underrated video ... definitely deserves more likes amd views ! Very detailed and is exactly what I'm looking for , quick question tho ! When you go to upload the file for the pages does it already need to be saved as the book size or can you change that in the process before publishing?
Yes could get away with doing that. Obviously when you preview you will see errors but you do have the opportunity to upload it again until you fix errors before publishing. Thanks for your kind comments!

Thank you for your kind comments Edgar. You can preview how your book is going to look before you publish and check the pages. Yes, amazon will add a blank page at the end depending on number of pages. May I ask you what font size you used for the regular text - Amazon recommends 11 pt Garamond font and I was just wondering if that will be readable (or if I should go for 12 pt). My book will be as small as yours I am assuming (5.06 x 7.81 inches).
Wow thank you so much! I had so much fun researching and writing these stories. The book in this video is 5 x 8 inches and I used Garamond font style 14pt. I went for a larger print as it was aimed at younger children. In my novel however, Mary Draper Dream's of Castle in the Sky (5 x 8 inches), I chose to use Garamond font style with a smaller font of 11pt which is readable. No not at all. That's the brilliant thing about self-publishing, you have full control of the content. It will not affect your reviews. It just changes your book availability to not available until it has been updated and approved.

I’m not sure. You may want to check the contract with the original publisher. You might be able to publish it as a different version of the book.

It depends which delivery you pay for and how many you order. If you are not ordering many you tend to get them quicker.

First, I wanna thank you for your enlightening video. I just have a question as I'm a newbie in such stuff. Ok, you, as an owner / publisher of the book, you only have to upload the book (pdf) and that's it? I mean does Amazon take care of the printing process? So when the customer purchases the book, Amazon ships it to his/her house in a paperback version, right? Sorry for such questions, I can't gather my thoughts right. Thanks in advance.

Hello Evelyn, great tutorial thanks for sharing it. I don't know exactly why but my publication on KDP keeps giving me the Draft status... it says something like Paperback actions but it doesn't mention what is wrong with it. Any idea on how to solve this problem? Thanks
Thank you. You need to go through all sections to check you have completed everything. It looks like there is something not finished. Have you been able to preview the book and approve it?

You can do many things such as share on social media to friends and family, do free offer days, pay to advertise on socials, promote on your website, email campaigns, check you have used effective key words on KDP… It’s not going to sell instantly. It will take a lot of hard work.

Thank you for this wonderful overview! Question: When you want to publish a book both as an ebook and as a paperback, is it best to enter it as a paperback first, so that you can get an ISBN number? If you enter it as an ebook first, they don't even offer to give you one, or so it seems. (I hope my question makes sense. I can overcomplicate anything!)
Thank you for your comments Barbara. It doesn't matter which you publish first. Kindles do not require an ISBN number, Amazon will assign it a 10-digit ASIN (Amazon Standard Identification Number), which is unique to the eBook, and is an identification number for the Kindle eBook on Amazon.. You can, however, add your own if you have a publishing house but you should not use but KDP advise: Do not use an ISBN from a print version of your book; eBook ISBNs must be unique to eBook versions. I hope this helps.

I want to print five or ten 'printed proofs' for my test readers 'before' I go live.
Your video seemed to say the 'select printed proofs' is done at the same time as going live.
Can we do the printed proofs without going live and how many can we do in one batch?

When you’re creating a PDF for the content in side the book, does the first page has to be blank? This is because if the first page has text will it not print directly behind the cover?
No. Does not need to be blank. You usually have your book title and name on first page. Have a look at other books to see what they have content wise. KDP do a previewed for when you upload to check how it looks before you publish.

Yes you can! You can have the same book available as paperback, Kindle and hardback depending on what country you live in 👍

You upload one first for example paperback. When published you will see it on your book shelf. It is here you will see the options for publishing the same book as kindle. Or when you click publish for your paperback, a box will pop up and ask you do you want to publish as kindle. This is how they will be kept together and appear together on Amazon.
The book PDF looks fine but when I preview it it looks blurry, was it like that for you? If not what can I do to fix this?
First of all, have you ensured all images are at least 300 dpi? When saving your book to pdf, click on Preferences and select High-quality print

If I want to sell paperback copies of my book throught KDP, then the Royalties calculator suggests that I might get 60% of what is left after taking away the printing costs from the retail price. But what about the shipping costs to the customer? Does Amazon cover it or that is also taken out of my royalties? I doubt what would be left for me if the shipping cost is also taken from my royalties as I'm sure the VAT or such tax will also come out of my royalties. Could you kindly answer this please?
The customer will pay the shipping costs. You will receive what you have calculated per book on the royalty calculator when you published it.

That could be a prime offer or perhaps they have books already printed in stock they want to get rid of.

I have a question about content for 18 and under. I have a romance novel for young people and it has 3 sex scenes, not explicit but it is obvious the couple has intercourse. Would that not be allowed by KDP. Are there some guidelines about this?
