I watched many other videos that are all tutorials on how to go through the publishing process on KDP and this is by far the one that explains the most. It's very straight forward and your way of explaining this makes sense.
Nice tutorial. The interface has changed slightly since I published my first book last year. One thing did not realize was Amazon contacts KDP authors via the registered email. If KDP has any questions (which delay publication) it will be communicated via email.
Very useful, but definitely a video to watch in stages unless you want to have your coffeemaker close to hand so you can continuously boost your caffeine with an intravenous drip attachment!. Lots of concentration is needed. There is so much info delivered quickly, sequentially andcoherently for you to absorb 'on the go' unless you have a brain and memory the size of a planet. I suggest you bookmark (or download) this video AND that you take notes. (Thank heavens for the 'pause' function). Bethany covers everything in such detail that I filled 2 sides of A4 notepaper with info from her walkthroughs of e-book and paperback uploading. She includes examples of every stage of the process. Thanks for taking the time to do all this . . . I'm now off to wait for the caffeine to subside!

What a great tutorial! You are clear, concise, and right off the top! Loved it. I've completed what I hope is a paperback from the title page through to and including a back cover. I now need a book cover, obtain an ISBN Number, determine a book price, obtain a Bar Code, submit to Amazon for KDP Direct Publishing. Absolutely! It will typically format wrong in print and cause a lot of errors. I don’t know exactly why, but using a word doc almost guarantees it’ll have errors.

There are a lot of controls, flags, options, what have you floating around a Word document - one slip or a different environment and you have a problem. Word to pdf is one and done and REALY WYSIWYG

I disagree that publishing a paperback on Kindle is easy. The jargon is hard to understand, the cover creator is extremely balky and hard to use. I've been struggling with this for months.
It's easy if you understand the tools and terminology. But like an oil change, though it is not rocket science to change out the fluids in a vehicle, sometimes it is just easier to pay someone else to do it. Heck, most writers I know struggle with the basics of writing (gramma & spelling & punctuation, the Chicago Manual of Style, character development and three-act structure, etc) let alone the more expansive aspects of writing: publishing the work in a polished or professional manner, submitting, etc.

Interesting... publishing my first book. Due to the file size, there is a large Delivery Fee. In my case, I make more per book on the 35% program with the way they calculate it (it doesn't subtract the delivery fee like the 70% option)

Thanks! It doesn't always show you the obvious issues, so I would always recommend actually looking over the proof in person before approving for sale.

Hi, I have three books for sale on Amazon now. But I can't find my first book, 'A Moth In The Darkness'. It ISN'T low content. I first (independently) published it back in 2005 but wasn't able to get it on a larger platform until 2023. And unfortunately, Amazon won't let me change my (second edition) book's title. Perhaps, I should ask someone else? My two children's books, on the other hand, pop right up after I type in my name on the search bar. On a side note: Would you know how to temporarily discount the price on my books? I asked a KDP representative and he said I COULDN'T do sale prices but would need to manually discount the price and then publish it again. But just today I visited Amazon and noticed other sellers with paperback books WERE able to discount (sale price) their own books. So now, I am confused. 😕 Thanks for your time and help. 😃

Hi, I created a book on MS Word 2013 in size 5x8inches. Now, when I am converting it to pdf via microsoft pdf, it converts as a4/letter size and there's no other option to print as 5x8inches. even though on the print page, size shows custom page size 5x8inches. still won't print in desired size. please help, I can't wait to publish my first book :)

Amazing Tutorial, I learned that you need a Min of 24 pages at least for the paperback book. Though this was helpful publishing my first E-book!

You can fix that by uploading a smaller file such as .epub instead of a word doc!

I'm making an illustrated journal ( have no idea what I'm doing AT ALL) ITS IN Microsoft WORD just as single documents , but I have no idea how in word , to set it up as a book with pages , nor do I know how to do some pages with my illustrations as full bleed , to view as entire book and how I would then upload to the amazon kdp do you have any videos on formatting and viewing in word then uploading to kdp. I am doing it as a 8.5x11 paperback Matt finish color on white . I'm finding all this so difficult

Hi, I created a book on MS Word 2013 in size 5x8inches. Now, when I am converting it to pdf via microsoft pdf, it converts as a4/letter size and there's no other option to print as 5x8inches. even though on the print page, size shows custom page size 5x8inches. still won't print in desired size. please help, I can't wait to publish my first book :)
