    Mike, that's the sad state of the Hotwheels world today. People selling Hot wheels for outrageous money are just plain greedy (scalpers)! Most collectors I know would never buy from these sellers. I prefer finding Hotwheels in the stores, much more exciting to find supers and exclusive cars in the "wild"!

      I see that a lot with non-collectors with any Hot Wheels they sell. I went to a collectible place called Jimmy's USA which is in my link I sent to Mike... and there is a place I wnt to called Frank And Son's a collectible place that has other stuff but when you are there they have so many vendors that sell Hot Wheels and they are marking them up even on Walmart and Target's website they mark Hot Wheels up. The Team Transport that sells for $12.97 is marked way up. I have seen the Team Transport Yellow Moon Eyes sell for ($15.00-$19.00) or more At Frank And Son's... I saw the 55 Chevy Belair Gasser marked up at ($4000.00) I have been seeing what Mike is seeing whether it's a Team Transport set you want or a car where I see it much cheaper and they are willing to pay more money for it. I don't get it...
      What do they want to be able to say it is worth more when it's not?" If you see my post the Team Transport you see in the link I can't find them anywhere online except eBay and I don't know where these non-collectors and Hot Wheels Collectors are finding them... And I have a hard time getting anything I want at Walmart at my location because the non-collectors and the Hot Wheels collectors are taking them. I like to save time and a trip to Walmart and Target if they don't have it in yet but Walmart is not very helpful.
      I asked a girl if she can get her scanner to tell me when the date would be they are getting an item in and she has helped me before but said I don't have a scanner when I know she has one... She just didn't feel like telling me or even helping me which is her job to help me... The date always changed because of the virus and if someone orders too much or they put in the wrong letter they have to re-due the order again. Now they are saying the scanner may not give you the correct date of delivery.
      This one Walmart location I called the woman was very friendly and very helpful said when they would be getting a shipment in and make sure you get there at 7:00 AM or the Hot Wheels will be gone and sold out. She was sure she would get more Hot Wheels on Saturday but when I got there they never got them in. The dump bend had bent cards but I was willing to go through the whole dump bend and found a bunch of cars where the cards were not bent. No one is as thorough as I am. That is why I see so many people in their videos missed a car because they didn't look hard enough. You need to look at every car from top to bottom. You would have never none what I found was there unless you were willing to search the whole dump bend or search the whole wall.
      That is why I'm trying to go online to get them but I can't find them anywhere but on eBay. I don't want to pay these markup prices... This sucks... Someone needs to put a stop to this... I feel your pain. I can never get Hot Wheels, anyone, as I used too... If a certain Hot Wheels is going for more money than fine but don't mark it up because you are trying to get more for it... to me It is highway robbery.

    What really pisses me off are the sellers in Malaysia selling 10- 20 loose supers of the same car knowing the whole time they are probably Mattel employees that are stealing them from the factory. Why can't Mattel do something about it. They're stopping the collectors from having a fair chance at finding them in the wild.

    • @HotWheelsTV

      U are absolutely spot on buddy. I am a Malaysian here and these guys seemed to have their hands on STH scheduled for the next 3 or 4 cases in advance and all of them are loose pieces. I personally feel tht Mattel is staying mum as it creates hype among collectors and they see it as another avenue of publicity. And it’s free publicity.

    • @hughjass2745
      @hughjass2745 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      the more they steal the less there is to find out in the wild, which essentially means their value goes up. It's not worthless if people are prepared to pay for stuff not even out yet, some need it before everyone else. So Mattel essentially isnt losing, it just adds to the hot wheels hype on STH's and upcoming releases.

      The demand is there, these sellers are just taking advantage of that and jacking up all the prices simply because they're part of the series rather than because that specific car is more rare. My wife and I just inherited a 30 year nascar collection and I'm now trying to sell on eBay. The tough thing with 1/64 is the shipping cost. I have thousands so pricing them takes forever and the prices are all over the place. But if it's value is around 10 bucks and shipping is $9.45 you need to list it for more and go free shipping or just see what happens. 1/24 is a little easier when the value is 75 bucks or more you can work it into the price and really valuable ones the shipping seems small compared to what it cost but it's hard. I see prices range from 10 bucks to 100 bucks for the same car. Lucky my father in-law put stickers on the valuable ones with a price at the time but it's only a guide.

    Yep-I don’t buy much off ebay but when I do it’s for a reasonable price only. I do take into consideration that I have to pay sales tax (which is expensive in California), the shipping cost, and how much ebay takes from the seller. So if I see a premium Hot Wheels car (Car Culture, Boulevard, etc.) going for around $10-$15 (including shipping)-I understand (a little profit). If I see that same premium car for $20 (including shipping)-forget it-I’d rather spend that on materials for customizing.

    On Point!...Not only Hot Wheels, but in also happening in the auto communities (ex. E30. that sold for 250k in B.A..T. or the VW Bus that sold for 200K at Barrett Jackson) , some have lost their minds!!!! Purposely driving up the market by greed.

      well You could check the bottom of them by flipping them upside they always have a date underneath of when they were manufactured and or search up hotwheels from that year you think purchased em or ebay search the specific car usually they show the date

    Scalpers and resellers have destroyed the toy collecting market across the board. Just last year you couldn't touch a modern Scareglow He-Man figure for less that $125! I managed to buy 2 on Mercari for under $30 when the craze finally died down and sellers were just dumping them back into the secondary market.

    Sorry for the late comment, I'm new to the whole hot wheels trading thing (and I must say it's very interesting and a lot of fun!), but this video sums up what I've seen so far, I see cars for €1 in a shop, then there's this one particular person or company online wanting €15-€20 for the exact same thing, plus another €15 for shipping! I know the treasure hunt ones etc exist, but these are just the normal latest ones it's ridiculous.

    I agree too. It's not just eBay, its facebook marketplace too and nz's version of eBay, trademe. What gets me are the people selling CURRENT mainline for double the price in stores PLUS postage. Why would I buy that from you if I can go down to the shop and get it for a third of the price. Or people who sell treasure hunts for hundreds. I know they are harder to find but come on now...

      This is the 1st mention of "Grading" I've seen. I've been waiting for/if it to become a factor. If it does, ALL diecast collectors need to be prepared for the same thing sports cards has done. Manufacturers priced Wholesale so high, Resale needs a profit and Secondary buyers paid. Average collectors got 'Priced' out of the hobby. Myself a 30yr card collector, don't bother going down that aisle-To see a $15 pack of 6 stickers? No. I hope I don't see mainlines at $3 each with rounded packaging corners.

    • @racecar2933
      @racecar2933 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I have quite a few of the international blue cards(non numbered blue cards). They are the hardest ones to find in my opinion. I have about 85% of the variations listed in your book. There are several variations that I have found that is not listed in your book. One variation I've been watching for is the maroon Speed Shark. Don't believe that is a listed variation in the book of yours.

    • @racecar2933
      @racecar2933 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Another thing I've noticed is that the selection of variations for most of any hot wheels collection has almost doubled in the sale price. The only reason I can think of this being is the heighten state of paranoia. Many sellers are not selling so it's making any variation scarce.

    I totally hear you sir, prices did shoot through the roof. Like someone said on your Instagram I think a good part of it is because of the extra $600 a week for unemployment plus the $1,200 stimulus. I am guilty I have overpaid for a few things but they were really hard to find, which I totally understand the less there are the more it's going to cost. But the prices on eBay are unreal.

    It's all the new scalpers doing this...they have no idea what it's worth because someone told them they can make money selling hot wheels and some new young "actual" collectors are very lazy and won't scroll down. They naively just go with the first one they find on there...they won't even bother with the auction listing. It's all the newbies. $150 for a mainline newest release gt40 I am assuming they think they have a STH but even if it were what the heck are they thinking lol.

I checked Mike book with it in it, the most it is worth is $3.00. Maybe a couple of dollars more since it it a dicontiue car. Not being made any more. Like Mike said if there isn't very many out the anymore then might cost more. When a vehicle is on final run, would they make slot of them so collectors have a chance tobuyone?

    Yeah, it really stinks when people ask for huge amounts of money for a 2$ car, they don't realize that about, what? 99% of Hot Wheels are super common and can be found in most stores, maybe not the older ones, but you're gotta look for garage sales and thrift stores, you won't need to pay ridiculous amounts of money, there's always exceptions, but even then, I'm not gonna pay 200$ for a Hot Wheels. I recently bought the '67 Camaro Treasure Hunt from the 2019 Q case on Ebay, and I payed about 30$ for it, including shipping and I thought it was pushing it, but some others are just way too high! You really need to pay attention and shop, but these sellers also need to stop believing that they will become rich by selling 2$ cars for far more than they're actually worth, it's just wrong, not to mention the shipping costs, too damn high!

    eBay auctions are getting bad , when you bid on something like car culture for £6-7 and you are the only bider it's been up for 6-8 day's no one is watching it the about half an hour to go and someone bids £10 for it you know the seller has a friend bidding on to bump up the price other wise a snipper would bid 5 or 10 second's before the end of the auction and they think I would bid it up na not me then half hour later they write to you and say the other bider has changed his mind then offer it to you I always tell them I'm not interested and walk away, trying to scam you (has this happened to anyone else ?).
    Kind regards
