Lightroom 11 Export Settings for HIGH RES + Instagram/Facebook 2022

Sometimes it can be confusing with all of the options Lightroom gives us when we're exporting images. Here's WHAT I USE for every session that I export.

72 DPI for Social media 300 dpi for print

what do you mean "social sharing"? instagram and facebook are not the same regarding resolutioin limitations.

You can use a lower quality than 100 and create a smaller file. You can't see the difference between 74 and 100. I usually see mine to 84 to make the file size smaller. Emails have a limit on what size jpg you can send. Some of my jpg files can be over 24MB depending on how much editing goes into it. That same image on 84 quality will be around 7 or 8 MB.

So do you always create two folders when you export - one for print AND one for social media? Which one do you send to clients?

I don’t, I only send high-res to my clients. But some people send both! If you’re posting to your own social media, social sizes work best for nice sharp photos.

I always was told any image for screens should be 72dpi, why 300?

Do you then export twice for social size. Choose all landscape to export then go back and choose all portrait to export?

If you’re wanting to export all the images then yes I’d suggest doing 2 exports.

Just to clarify, standard color space for print is CMYK, not sRGB. Hope that helps some people.

Yes 1080p is for Facebook and Instagram! And it should actually be 72 res, not 300 for web. I forgot to change that one setting!
