I can't thank you enough for this very excellent tutorial video. The dealer wanted twelve hundred dollars to do this. Saved my daughter a lot of money. Thank you, again.
I really appreciate you making this video. My local Chevy dealer was going to charge me $1400 for the pump and labor. I found the pump at Autozone for $90 and a new belt for $25. I still can't figure out how labor added another $1300+. I will be attempting to tackle this on my own.
For future viewers: This is the 1.4T EcoTec engine. When you perform this replacement, take the time to replace the accessory belt and tensioner. It is advised that you also replace the thermostat housing and water outlet with aftermarket aluminum versions, and change the internal thermostat in the housing with a lower-temp version - the replacement internal thermostat is found in the thermostat housing for a Cadillac ELR and a Chevy Volt 2011-2014, part number 55593035, manufactured by Dorman. The stock thermostat is rated to open at 220°F, the replacement is rated at 176°F. Studies have shown that the engine operating temp has minimal effects on emissions and efficiency, so this change is not detrimental to the operation of the vehicle. It may be possible to increase oil life with this change, as the operating temperatures will be lower. It may also be possible to increase engine performance due to reduced cylinder temperatures and predetonation chance, as well as reducing the heat transfer from the radiator to the stock intercooler. These changes will drastically improve the life of the 1.4T LUV engine by reducing operating temps and overheating conditions. The stock thermostat operates within 20°F of high-temp warnings from the coolant temperature sensors. Save yourself the potential failure by doing these upgrades. And change the oil every 3000 miles! Tiny oil passages everywhere in this engine will get gummed up by old dirty oil. It only takes 4.25qt - that's just over a gallon - and it will deteriorate quickly because of the high heat, the turbo temperatures, and the small oil capacity. You will keep the engine healthy for hundreds of thousands of miles. Thermostat replacement information courtesy of CruiseCruze over at CruzeTalk. Look for their thread on the replacement for more observational information.
Thank you! Seriously! I was stressing trying to find someone to help me and then decided to do it my own, read your comments, watched your video and loved it! Watched it again and took it step by step, but seriously thank you! Thank you Thank you THANK YOU🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽 I Am Subscribed
This is a really good time to upgrade the thermostat to the aluminum replacement and eliminating another fail prone plastic coolant part. All of the plastic coolant parts on the engine have affordable aluminum replacements. We had to do them all recently, as each of them had developed cracks and warping over the years. Nearing 80,000 miles, it was a great decision.
What are the torque values for the engine mount? Do you need to use new torque to yield bolts for the engine mount? if so what are the part numbers for the 3 engine side attachment and the 5 other bolts an 1 nut on the wheel well side.

My 2013's radiator valve is accessible from the top of the hood area. No need to remove the wheel and all of the plastic pieces. This job is nearly identical to replacing the alternator. Only messier, though due to the antifreeze
And in the last, i did reset my car because after replacing with a new water pump , my car was behaving wierd😂, the fan was constantly running but then i did reset my car taking out negative of the battery and plug it in again , which make the things go back normal again
What are the signs that the water pump and thermostat is bad? A Freind of mines car is going thru a lot of coolant, but we don’t see any leaking on the ground. The oil doesn’t look milky. So we are not sure where the water is going.
F for failure. So many mistakes. Not only did you not replace the 6 torque to yield motor mount bolts but you forgot the 2 torque to yield water pump bolts. After the initial 71 inch pound tightening sequence you need to do a final 30 degree torque with the replaced torque to yield bolts. This one will leak eventually bc of this mistake. Also, why in the world did you remove the fender liner? Or take the air box apart? The hose attaching to t stat housing is much easier after removing pump. Surprised at this poor workmanship from TRQ

U r the best my guy u saved me alot of money and also made me mechanic 😂
I really appreciate the video, man i can never believe that i just did it by myself with a friend today, got saved some money, thank you
Excellent instructional video.
3 or 4 dabs of blue gasket maker to hold that gasket on the pump makes this easier.

So thankful for this video!
Good Video. I like your Torque wrenches and your impacts 👍 Thanks for sharing.

Thanks!
Actually watch the video and did it my time thanks buddy save me alout of money
After watching this I’ve decided to send to to the shop to have it replaced
Professional job. Respect!
The Cruze only started in 2011. So any other car with this engine may have different mounting hardware, hoses and air box position.
Thanks for putting this together. Very through.
What is the diameter of the hose used to drain the fluid from the radiator?
Do you need to use gasket maker silicone in addition to the gasket?
Excellent video! Thank yoooooouuuuuuu!

Thanks for the video! You dont have to drain the radiator fluid first?
That was the first thing he did 😂
And in the last, i did reset my car because after replacing with a new water pump , my car was behaving wierd😂, the fan was constantly running but then i did reset my car taking out negative of the battery and plug it in again , which make the things go back normal again
what size drain tube do you use to fit on the radiator petcock fitting?
What is the best brand to go with for the water pump? 2012 Cruze and I’m overthinking it
Why did he take the lower covers off?
What would a person expect to pay an independent repair shop to do this repair?
Don’t you have to bleed the system after everything is changed ? Or is that an older model Cruze
My engine rattles more then it did now, any suggestions on that?
different engines offered, you should put displacement in title😢

So we are not sure where the water is going.
do NOT reuse those bolts. they are one time use bolts
No gasket glue on the gasket
