Man the Warcraft 3 custom game scene has inspired massive franchises like PvZ and has created entire video game genres like MOBAs. I'm really, really glad you made this video, on the topic of pvz and it's history, this is most definitely the best out there. Definitely set yourself a bright future ahead!
I have to disagree with what was said about plants vs zombies garden warfare 2. It wasn't just pvzgw1 with more characters. It also added an engaging hub world and a surprisingly fun campaign. However, where the game really shined was with its secrets. Some of my favorite gaming experiences are with grinding out the trials of gnomus or finding a hidden golden gnome until eventually opening up the first part of the vault. As well as all that, the tower defense mode had received a huge update with you now being able to play as zombies in grave yard ops. They also added a new game mode that played similar to a tower defense in the form of infinity time. Finally, the events were loads of fun. around once a week, the town hall would open up and you would be able to play some sort of exclusive game mode whether that be robo cats vs robo dinos or, my personal favorite, the "raid bosses". there were four incredibly challenging bosses that you would only get a chance at once a month. During these times you would grind up your XP multipliers in preparation for the fight. Out of the four bosses, I only beat two in my 600+ hours of game play. Needless to say, the game had much more depth than the original. Battle for neighbor ville not only lost the character varients and stick packs, but also the depth in secrets which was a much larger deal for me.
You forgot to say that in PvZ 2, the players never got more content, the chinese version had a little more to it, but what really was giving the fan base hope were the mods, cause cmon no one normal could ever get a plant to level 20 just by playing the game, the only way was spend money or get one of the modded versions that had evething unlocked for free.
And surprisingly, the microtransactions were planned to be a part of PvZ2 before EA bought PopCap, and EA barely tells PopCap to do anything, yeah they may tell a few programmers to work on an EA game instead (which happened and led to BFN not being that great) but at the end of the day, PopCap are practically free to do what they want.
I loved this game. I remember playing that first game for hours in my computer, and when they released the pvz2 I was really upset because they didn't released the game for PC and I hadn't any android mobile to play pvz2 so I sometimes played it on my friends smartphones but all in all it was great to have that first game in my mind.
I only played the Shooter games, but I watched a lot of videos on the other games as well. The Shooter Trilogy has given me many fond memories, especially with GW2. I'm glad Shaii didn't mindlessly shit all over BFN like literally everybody else does. Like, yeah, I get why people don't like it, but I still enjoyed it for what it was. I was quite saddened when support was cut off, because they had several Plant classes still in development that never got finished, leaving the Zombies with having one extra class over the Plants. But alas, sometimes we just gotta move on in life.
It makes me angry how EA treats this franchise, Not only has it been almost 3 years after BFN’s cancellation and there still nothing new for the shooters, but also PvZ 3 is still sucking so BADLY, I hope that this franchise doesn’t become a soulless mobile game franchise that no one cares about.
Whenever I see pvz all I think about is how a kid went as a peashooter to school and called himself the school peashooter Also that pvp game mode on the ds was the best
I mean at launch you could unlock any world you wanted woth 1 boss key. Then you could only play it in order (of release) for a while, then you could unlock every world at once, and now you play every world in order of difficulty
Arguably. One problem that surrounds modern game culture is rising expectations. Here, we have a game which comes from a fantastic franchise that is loved by many, making expectations higher. On the other hand... yeah no, pvz3 is just a mediocre mobile game at heart.
@@scotterboi9 personally i don’t mind the gameplay, my issue is that it is literally a Scapes game now. worded it poorly, in terms of the real PvZ aspects its alright but not a sequel to PvZ2 and the way you even progress is Homescapes.

Just bought the first one again and finished the main adventure in 2 days It was such a fun experience and I'm sad there's nothing like it again (I've played a lot of pvz 2, but the microtransactions and kinda bad balancing does it for me)
I would definitely love a new Garden Warfare or shooter PvZ game. I really enjoyed all of them, and the side stuff in Battle for Neighborville was actually rather fun and creative, especially with all the puzzles and easter eggs you could find. I just wish they'd do more with the concept.
Wow this is wild, my mom and I got the original release Plants vs Zombies in 2009 and played it relentlessly. We loved it. Though we did end up tiring of it after figuring out a defense protocol that always resulted in success, so it lost the challenge for us. But it was really fun for awhile. I had no idea it had sequel games and different iterations. oh ps Popcap games were so fun, we used to play Insaniquarium, Dynomite!, Book Worm, and Bejeweled all the time.
I just want a quality well thought out garden warfare 3 with character varieties, packs, stickers, minimum micro transactions and hopefully some other cool additional content. I would never stop playing in my life would be complete👍
You forgot to mention that Battle for Neighborville got ported to the Nintendo Switch in 2021, making the port EA's very first game without microtransactions. The Switch port managed to make Battle for Neighborville popular again

I remember playing that first game for hours in my computer, and when they released the pvz2 I was really upset because they didn't released the game for PC and I hadn't any android mobile to play pvz2 so I sometimes played it on my friends smartphones but all in all it was great to have that first game in my mind.
9:51 *DUN DUN DUN BUM BUDDABUM* NOOOO!!!
@@nickytembo4112 *WHY* are you following me?!
@@SegaMario Fine I’ll leave you be.
The thumbnail is so good😭😭☠️
the garden warfare clips gave me crazy backflashes to 5th grade playing it every day after school
7:41 eyy I played that once
And I was terrible at it lol
The comedically cut-off crazy dave 'noooo's are what cracked me up lmao. You earned a subscriber!
6:42
garden warfare is kinda dead now but me n my sis still play it!!
like im joining multiplayer, barely any people 😥
I get tons of players just the host keeps leaving in garden ops everything I join a game so I have to host my own
Whenever I see pvz all I think about is how a kid went as a peashooter to school and called himself the school peashooter
Also that pvp game mode on the ds was the best
The change in pvz 2 where instead of unlocking all the worlds at once to getting them one by one in order is really my only problem with the game
I mean at launch you could unlock any world you wanted woth 1 boss key. Then you could only play it in order (of release) for a while, then you could unlock every world at once, and now you play every world in order of difficulty
this is a neat way of exploring pvz's history, pretty well done. i think this is the first time i ever saw early concept art and design for pvz1 lol.
the issue with PvZ3 isn't that it's necessarily bad, it's that it's a SEQUEL to PvZ.
@@bored.random Fair enough.
This is what popped up when I was rechecking to see if anyone else cared for pvz lore and while it’s not what I asked for to youtube it is a very good video
5:21 **laughs in BlueStacks**
Imagine how many great games were never created because no one saw the potential in them like popcap, therefore they never got past the beginning
4:24 ain't no way the ds version has tiktok mode activated
Pvz 1 has the best art style and feels like a classic, Pvz 2 feels more modern but still good. The rest are quite goofy

the moment at 5:13 touched my heart, the acting, the animation, everything about it was great!
truly a masterpiece of a video
Literally nothing happened at that timestamp
@@4rdency you fell for it
Loved that you followed the humor and formatting of the history of the world video
Please, don't let this game die. Not yet.
Just bought the first one again and finished the main adventure in 2 days
It was such a fun experience and I'm sad there's nothing like it again (I've played a lot of pvz 2, but the microtransactions and kinda bad balancing does it for me)
Bill wurtz will be proud of this masterpeice
Not really, it's not even trying to copy the original, just the title. Dont get me wrong, its an OK short documentary.
I love how the most barebones title was picked and I wouldn't have it any other way
10:35 In The Netherlands? I checked a lot if the game was released, but it never showed up when searching for it.
I love the editing on the George fan thinking parts
i love how they used both an extra game mode after one of their one old name ideas and named the company the plants are from after another name
I would definitely love a new Garden Warfare or shooter PvZ game. I really enjoyed all of them, and the side stuff in Battle for Neighborville was actually rather fun and creative, especially with all the puzzles and easter eggs you could find.
I just wish they'd do more with the concept.
I love this video. I really hope that they change it so you can pick your plants in pvz3.
lol. You can tell I just discovered youtube emojis
The PvZ GW games were my favorite. I played 1 and 2, and loved both games, but the first one most. I wish I could play again
I was born in 2010 and i gotta say PvZ is a top tiers
1:38, damn I suddenly felt so nostalgic
Wow this is wild, my mom and I got the original release Plants vs Zombies in 2009 and played it relentlessly. We loved it. Though we did end up tiring of it after figuring out a defense protocol that always resulted in success, so it lost the challenge for us. But it was really fun for awhile. I had no idea it had sequel games and different iterations.
oh ps Popcap games were so fun, we used to play Insaniquarium, Dynomite!, Book Worm, and Bejeweled all the time.
W vid, gotta redownload now
6:15 Does anybody know what this is?
I just want a quality well thought out garden warfare 3 with character varieties, packs, stickers, minimum micro
transactions and hopefully some other cool additional content. I would never stop playing in my life would be complete👍
ive been playing pvz since 2012, so I can confirm this is accurate. :)
You forgot to mention that Battle for Neighborville got ported to the Nintendo Switch in 2021, making the port EA's very first game without microtransactions. The Switch port managed to make Battle for Neighborville popular again
