I also completely disagree with Warp being better than Burrow. Burrow is such a good getaway and stealth tool, plus when using the warps I often find myself having to use another ability to secure the kill when with Burrow you can do that instantly. I think Twilight Warp is better than Burrow, but not Rainbow Warp and I feel like some people only look down on Burrow because of how annoying it is.
Why couldn't've Pop Cap just given Chomper both? The normal ability button could be used for burrow, and the reload button could be used for Warp... Chomper doesn't have ammo, SO WHY DOESNT THAT BUTTON DO ANYTHING USEFUL?!

I do have a counterargument to your points. While you don’t need another ability to secure a kill with burrow, eating a zombie is usually a very bad situation for you to be in. Not only that, but chomper’s other two abilities are available often. Goop recharges very quickly and while spikeweed is more scarce, if you do happen to swallow a zombie it immediately gives you another spikeweed charge. Also unicorn warp has a hidden stat where it makes chomper invincible for a brief duration. Even twilight warp doesn’t have this.
Fun facts about Sprint Burrow: You can actually bunny hop like any other ability as it gives you more momentum, another thing is that when you play online, you lose the ability to bunny hop but replace it with a leap! Yes, Chomper in online can leap, possibly the same reason with Cozmic Brainz’s cozmic fist charge glitch. Chomper’s leap allows you to catch people off guard more often. Also, call me a person who loves using the worst abilities cause that’s most of the abilities I use(Maybe because I want to be different and try unique strats…).

You know it’s crazy to think how badly they butchered retro gatling, I mean just look at solar flare beam a similar concept except the dps actually increases and the thing is pinpoint accurate. Meanwhile retro gatling is arguably less accurate then pea gatling and does less damage… pure genius
What weird is that Gatling originally had an overheat meter which retro would most likely remove, but they removed the overheat and it was just left bad
I've never understood why people say Ultra Tackle is bad. With a heavy hitting ability, I'd like as much damage as possible, and doing more damage plus travelling further makes it the superior tackle.
I agree with your reason, however I personally don’t just use a sprint tackle for extra damage (most of the time) I use it as a movement ability so having a faster recharging sprint tackle fits my play style more (ultra tackle also cuts your momentum at the end of it so you can’t b hop to keep your speed unlike spint tackle) Then again it’s just a me thing I just like getting around the map faster
I think people complain about the speed reduction a little too much. It's still fast regardless and I believe travels further (dont quote me) but I think with some good timing it can hit your target. Sometimes the enemy can run into the ultra tackle when in some scenarios it would not for the reg tackle. I think it's a super sticky good situation, worse but not the worst thing ever.
Ultra tackle is better for ability spammers IMO. Since most all-star players die shortly after using both Imp Punt and Sprint Tackle, the increased recharge time for Ultra Tackle doesn’t really affect them, and you get the extra damage. If you know how to conserve abilities, though, you’ll find yourself waiting longer than you might want to. Either way, that’s just my opinion.
Maybe because they aren't idiots lol. Being down for an extra 15 seconds pretty much singlehandedly invalidates the choice, but on top of that it travels slower, can't be used with speed ghosting, and takes longer. You actually end up losing damage overall simply because it takes so much longer to end and that's time spent not shooting. Like cool it goes...marginally further...as possibly the sole overall upside of the ability. Great.

I had a stroke reading that but like if you're an all-star and you're genuinely having trouble killing a sunflower in any context I think something has gone horribly wrong
If you look at it, twilight and unicorn were actually designed incredibly well because both warps combined in unicorn=36m, and the one warp on twilight=36. The faster attack but 25 damage on unicorn is the same dps and slower but 35 damage twilight. It’s like pump shotgun vs tactical shotgun in Fortnite in how they have almost the exact same dps, but one shoots faster for less damage per shot and the other way slower but more per shot.
3:30 You can get a lot more horizontal movement if you press the rocket jump hotkey (only works with rocket jump and not leap) then s(or other backwards moving hotkey) and really quickly switch to w(or other forward moving hotkey)
I wouldn't say butter barrage, sprint burrow or turbo jackhammer quite fall into the useless category here. Butter barrage going off faster than bigger better butter can help you to get some amount of damage out of it as opposed to no damage and more consistently use it in direct fights and open areas. It's not generally going to kill anything on its own but it's nice to have one of corn's options be just that much less telegraphed, his whole kit in general has a huge issue with being so telegraphed and all of the damage being completely avoidable. It's certainly not as flashy as bbb, and bbb on turf and such blindy thrown onto point vs clueless players can always farm free kills, but I'd argue that it's a potentially more competitive option for more consistently getting chip off and pressuring better players. Sprint burrow has issues with swallow hit detection which is actually the main reason it doesn't see use. The potential for faster burst movement within a short distance as well as the fact that you can speed ghost it after it ends and maintain that higher speed means it could actually make for some decent niche use, provided you aren't trying to swallow people ofc. Given swallowing is pretty suboptimal anyways and something you should be avoiding in the first place, this isn't a bad tradeoff at all. The main actual downsides are that sprint burrow covers less total ground than burrow without the ghosting and ofc you can't stall with it nearly as long by sitting still. It is definitely a valid aggressive option though that is relatively unexplored. Turbo jack is similar in a lot of ways to burrow vs sprint burrow. More speed means more ability to speed ghost it afterwards. Unlike sprint burrow though, turbo jack on its own even without the ghosting is much better for map traversal than its regular counterpart. It travels nearly the same overall distance as regular jack but in around 2/3 of the time, not only outracing it entirely on short trips but even when using the full duration. It does have a tad bit more cooldown time, but you have to keep in mind it also ends sooner, making the difference in cooldown fairly trivial given you usually use the whole thing. All of this, coupled with the fact that turbo jack's sheer speed starts to make engi just that much harder to hit in combat scenarios, and it's actually considered the go-to choice if anything, rather than being useless at all.
This video is actually really insightful, as I’ve been working with balancing the abilities to make them work as proper sidegrades. However, I do have some odd tastes for them, so idk how well it would turn out in the end lol

Normal butter barrage is really good with popcorn since you're using him at range. His playstyle focuses a lot less on ability spam, so taking out low-health enemies behind cover is better with the normal butter barrage due to its more sporadic pattern.
Personally I think sprint burrow is not horrible is ofc on armor chomper but also hot rod the amount of speed you get with 2 speed upgrades is so funny you can basically outrun anything Also rocket jump is not actually bad because there is a tech that allows you to go foward and right/left at the same time and to curve around kinda which gives you a decent speed boost but yeah nice video lol

im surprised you didnt mention super pea jump seeing as it completely removes the speed boost of hyper and it lasts for less time in favor of only a little more jump height than hyper which is already big enough to get to basically anywhere you want already
Ultra Tackle travels further on top of dealing more damage, when I use it for a kill it secures it so much more often and the +15 second recharge isn’t that big of a deal unless you are an ability spamming all star. Why is Turbo Jackhammer here? The increased recharge barely matters
I also think sprint burrow is WAY worse than reg burrow in one huge factor. With Reg burrow, you can mash the chomp button to swallow an enemy, however, after pressing it once with sprint burrow, you can’t swallow anymore.
I don’t agree with turbo Jackhammer. Atleast, in turf takeover (the game I mainly play) As an engineer your task is to get to the teleporter as fast as possible to set up defense so you can safely make a TP. If you don’t have that, the plants may be first and just mess up your plans Even if you’re on defense. The time doesn’t matter. What’s important is that you won’t get hit. Additionally, you can escape fights way easier too. Really the only way you’d die like that is a peashooter going hyper on you
Fun fact about gatling pea: it has a penetrate peas bullets that allow to bypass armor such as pirates barrels and types of imps mechs variants, its extremely useful to win 1v1 fights of two classes active abilities

Respectfully i must disagree about sprint burrow since it also has a very useful application with hotrod chomper. I use sprint burrow to start my speed boost since it is easier to pick off single zombies then use the aquired speed to go eating more and continue the cycle. Also you should try a hotrod chomp with double speed upgrade and sprint burrow. It is a really fun build to do for casual games.
I also use sprint burrow on hotrod chomper with 2 speed upgrades as most engineer players lack the reaction time and accuracy to hit the stun on the super fast burrow, and the same goes for any zombie with an escape ability if you’re sneaky enough

In my opinion, the worst ability has to be the sombrero bean bomb. Not only does it take way too long to go off, making it super easy to avoid, but the area of damage isn't too big compared to the regular bean bomb. Why, yes, it deals more damage, that doesn’t matter in the slightest because the regular bean bomb was already an instant kill. I generally don't get why so many people use.
I disagree with rocket jump being useless, its used in different situations than rocket leap, but its not at all useless, as its capable of reaching places rocket leap simply isnt able to. I think rocket leap is better and is my personal choice, but rocket jump is great aswell and my pick occasionally. Burrow is also quite good, you are literally immortal for the duration of the burrow, so it can be used to escape, but also basically a guaranteed kill, which Warp isnt usually able to provide.
The regular barrel has 0.188 armor multiplication, which means any damage you take is multiplied by 0.188 which effectively reduces it. Bling multiples it by 0.25, which makes it a direct downgrade on top of being easier to spot.
answer me with a calculation on how is it worst? since lets say if the armor is 100 and times that 0.188 that is 18.8 but with 0.25 that would be 25 if all my and lets put all the armor values together that would be 118.8 on the normal one and on the bling one that would be 125 so if you can give me a calculation that would say otherwise please let me know.
Turbo jackhammer used to be pretty bad, but then they buffed it to where it lasts long enough to where jackhammer and turbo Jackhammer carry you the same distance(if constantly moving) meaning turbo Jackhammer is better with mobility and teleporter racing, while reg is better in combat as it lasts longer
i agree with most of these except ultra tackle, ultra tackle is actually great for doing kamikaze attacks on groups of enemies (esp multiple sunflowers spam healing each other), can't tell u how many times i have cleared most/all of a full lobby of players by running up to them as a all star and just dumping imp punt,ultra tackle and future dummy on the group of bunched up players to just clear them out (also really satisfying to do on 3+ grouped up sun flowers).
How do you get abilities in this game? I've already spent 1 million coins on different types of packages from the store but I don't get anything. I've been trying to get the soldier's double jump but it just doesn't drop idk if I’m unlucky or I need to unlock a special store.
How the hell do they design an ability variant (which amounts to copy pasting the original), compare it with the original, see almost exclusively inferior or superior stats, and they still let the thing as it is.
My only problem with BBB, is that it is more....avoidable? It seems to take a bit longer for the butter to land, so in many cases by the time it lands most people are away from the blast range. So I use butter barrage so I can at least deal some damage than sometimes no damage.

I disagree about ultra trackle because even thought sprint tackle is a better option, ultra tackle is not that bad because it can fit to the playstyle of most all star mains since a lot of people who play as All star die after they play for 1 minuit so if they use sprint tackle 40 seconds after they respawn, they will not be able to use it a second time which will make the faster cooldwon that sprint tackle has useless. Also, some abilities are flat out worse than their upgrades but that gives you a reason to grind and get the better versions. I do disagree about turbo jackhammer being worse, just like you predicted, but I haven't touched the enginear class in 2 years because I never had a reason to play with them after I mastered them so I do not know if I am qualified to talk about the enginear abilities!
Fine video, but turbo jackhammer is a fine sidegrade. Poke and sniper variants like the welder / electrician / painter benefit from the quick repositioning and the turbo is much better for tele rushing because most teleports have a single concerning “vulnerable” sightline between the tele and an otherwise safe route. (E.g many of the tele locations on wall-nut or glacial)
There are some corrections #1 bling maiden can be stacked and makes noises so its better #2 bling pylon mech does more damage #3 turbo jack does get you into something quicker so if you value uptime vs mobility it actually has ground Sprint burrow is better on chompersbwith sprays since you usually use the spray to kill not the burrow 😊
Now I'll add my 2 cents. For the Scientist! I fully believe the armor heal station is legitimately the worst ability in the game. It lasts the same time as the regular heal station (20 seconds) but heals SO SLOWLY. I've always asked people do they want their teammates to survive? Or the heal station to survive? If a sombrero bean bomb is on the point. Either everyone runs away, or they die while still at half health because they were trying so desperately to get heals
I just disagree on ultratacle i think it’s stronger than default one because on a lot of situations the plan isn’t full life and for the low health plant it’s a really strong finish moove and even on stronger plant it help a lot on 1vs 1 situations base on the low damage of all stars

Bling Barrel isn’t the only except to the slight difference thing. Bling Pylon gets extra damage, so that’s an upgrade there

Personally I think sprint burrow is not horrible is ofc on armor chomper but also hot rod the amount of speed you get with 2 speed upgrades is so funny you can basically outrun anything
Also rocket jump is not actually bad because there is a tech that allows you to go foward and right/left at the same time and to curve around kinda which gives you a decent speed boost

Id say that sprint burrow works extrememy well with Hotrod chomper with both speed upgrades. You can really catch people off guard

im surprised you didnt mention super pea jump seeing as it completely removes the speed boost of hyper and it lasts for less time in favor of only a little more jump height than hyper which is already big enough to get to basically anywhere you want already
Ultra Tackle travels further on top of dealing more damage, when I use it for a kill it secures it so much more often and the +15 second recharge isn’t that big of a deal unless you are an ability spamming all star.

I also think sprint burrow is WAY worse than reg burrow in one huge factor. With Reg burrow, you can mash the chomp button to swallow an enemy, however, after pressing it once with sprint burrow, you can’t swallow anymore.
fun fact, the ultra tackle used to do 100 damage which was able to one shot sunflowers but was nerfed later after it was added in garden warfare 1

As an engineer your task is to get to the teleporter as fast as possible to set up defense so you can safely make a TP. If you don’t have that, the plants may be first and just mess up your plans
Even if you’re on defense. The time doesn’t matter. What’s important is that you won’t get hit. Additionally, you can escape fights way easier too. Really the only way you’d die like that is a peashooter going hyper on you

Fun fact about gatling pea: it has a penetrate peas bullets that allow to bypass armor such as pirates barrels and types of imps mechs variants, its extremely useful to win 1v1 fights of two classes active abilities

Respectfully i must disagree about sprint burrow since it also has a very useful application with hotrod chomper. I use sprint burrow to start my speed boost since it is easier to pick off single zombies then use the aquired speed to go eating more and continue the cycle. Also you should try a hotrod chomp with double speed upgrade and sprint burrow. It is a really fun build to do for casual games.
I also use sprint burrow on hotrod chomper with 2 speed upgrades as most engineer players lack the reaction time and accuracy to hit the stun on the super fast burrow, and the same goes for any zombie with an escape ability if you’re sneaky enough

ahah I was gonna say sprint burrow is good on armour chomper. Because it’s attack hits so hard and it has so much health you usually don’t need to worry about getting away too slowly, you just dive in, kill, and then lumber off behind something while tanking bullets

In my opinion, the worst ability has to be the sombrero bean bomb. Not only does it take way too long to go off, making it super easy to avoid, but the area of damage isn't too big compared to the regular bean bomb. Why, yes, it deals more damage, that doesn’t matter in the slightest because the regular bean bomb was already an instant kill. I generally don't get why so many people use.

retro would work if you could move or instead of ammo, you have a time limit (like bastion tank form in ow2)
I disagree with rocket jump being useless, its used in different situations than rocket leap, but its not at all useless, as its capable of reaching places rocket leap simply isnt able to.
I think rocket leap is better and is my personal choice, but rocket jump is great aswell and my pick occasionally.
Burrow is also quite good, you are literally immortal for the duration of the burrow, so it can be used to escape, but also basically a guaranteed kill, which Warp isnt usually able to provide.

Btw 0.25 is equal to 0.250
The regular barrel has 0.188 armor multiplication, which means any damage you take is multiplied by 0.188 which effectively reduces it. Bling multiples it by 0.25, which makes it a direct downgrade on top of being easier to spot.

answer me with a calculation on how is it worst? since lets say if the armor is 100 and times that 0.188 that is 18.8 but with 0.25 that would be 25 if all my and lets put all the armor values together that would be 118.8 on the normal one and on the bling one that would be 125 so if you can give me a calculation that would say otherwise please let me know.
Turbo jackhammer used to be pretty bad, but then they buffed it to where it lasts long enough to where jackhammer and turbo Jackhammer carry you the same distance(if constantly moving) meaning turbo Jackhammer is better with mobility and teleporter racing, while reg is better in combat as it lasts longer
i agree with most of these except ultra tackle, ultra tackle is actually great for doing kamikaze attacks on groups of enemies (esp multiple sunflowers spam healing each other), can't tell u how many times i have cleared most/all of a full lobby of players by running up to them as a all star and just dumping imp punt,ultra tackle and future dummy on the group of bunched up players to just clear them out (also really satisfying to do on 3+ grouped up sun flowers).

How do you get abilities in this game? I've already spent 1 million coins on different types of packages from the store but I don't get anything. I've been trying to get the soldier's double jump but it just doesn't drop idk if I’m unlucky or I need to unlock a special store.
How the hell do they design an ability variant (which amounts to copy pasting the original), compare it with the original, see almost exclusively inferior or superior stats, and they still let the thing as it is.

My only problem with BBB, is that it is more....avoidable? It seems to take a bit longer for the butter to land, so in many cases by the time it lands most people are away from the blast range. So I use butter barrage so I can at least deal some damage than sometimes no damage.

7:18 i completely disagree in gw2 chomper should never be that far from an enemy realistically being able to cover more distance shouldnt take priority over covering the distance as fast as you can because in gw2 chomper cant actually do much at range being able to instakill so much faster should always take priority over being able to go farther

I disagree about ultra trackle because even thought sprint tackle is a better option, ultra tackle is not that bad because it can fit to the playstyle of most all star mains since a lot of people who play as All star die after they play for 1 minuit so if they use sprint tackle 40 seconds after they respawn, they will not be able to use it a second time which will make the faster cooldwon that sprint tackle has useless. Also, some abilities are flat out worse than their upgrades but that gives you a reason to grind and get the better versions. I do disagree about turbo jackhammer being worse, just like you predicted, but I haven't touched the enginear class in 2 years because I never had a reason to play with them after I mastered them so I do not know if I am qualified to talk about the enginear abilities!
Fine video, but turbo jackhammer is a fine sidegrade. Poke and sniper variants like the welder / electrician / painter benefit from the quick repositioning and the turbo is much better for tele rushing because most teleports have a single concerning “vulnerable” sightline between the tele and an otherwise safe route.
(E.g many of the tele locations on wall-nut or glacial)
There are some corrections
#1 bling maiden can be stacked and makes noises so its better
#2 bling pylon mech does more damage
#3 turbo jack does get you into something quicker so if you value uptime vs mobility it actually has ground
Sprint burrow is better on chompersbwith sprays since you usually use the spray to kill not the burrow

Now I'll add my 2 cents. For the Scientist! I fully believe the armor heal station is legitimately the worst ability in the game. It lasts the same time as the regular heal station (20 seconds) but heals SO SLOWLY. I've always asked people do they want their teammates to survive? Or the heal station to survive? If a sombrero bean bomb is on the point. Either everyone runs away, or they die while still at half health because they were trying so desperately to get heals
I just disagree on ultratacle i think it’s stronger than default one because on a lot of situations the plan isn’t full life and for the low health plant it’s a really strong finish moove and even on stronger plant it help a lot on 1vs 1 situations base on the low damage of all stars
