Maybe write a Memoir, or book, about the life & culture - because you're right, each generation learns less of the old language, skills & ways of our elders. You are a gentle soul with a gift to share💜💜💜

Thank you so much for sharing. That was a beautiful story. Your reasons for sharing the knowledge really just speaks to my heart. By making the content that you do, all of Mamaw and Pawpaw's knowledge is being passed down and into the universe 100x more than if you shared w just a child or two. I find that really cool and beautiful .
Lord works in mysterious ways. I was feeling kinda down today, few things going on. Something about your video this evening, perhaps the palpable love and warmth for your family, just gave me a much needed reset/snap out of it.
I love your videos. I am constantly sharing w my sister and my mom as well.

I love listening to your stories! My mom & aunt tell their stories and keep me close to family I never got to meet. That's how you pass the love down. My aunt has been on her farm since she was 14-yrs-old(when she got married) & she's now 86-yrs-old! Her ex-husband's grandparents absolutely loved her and taught her everything about farming, canning, gardening, cooking & raising cattle. My mom & her were shipped out to live & work on a farm(for room & board) when they were so little, like 5 & 8-yrs-old. It was an abusive life til they got off that farm when they came home for Christmas one year to visit their older sister. That's a whole long story. Keep telling your stories! So glad you had loving parents!🥰

I mean no disrespect to younger parents, but the love of someone from the older generation just hits different. It soaks in deeper, if that makes sense. Beautiful life 🙏🌻❤️🌻

Honestly, I agree with you! Mamaw and Papaw lived through the Great Depression, many wars/conflicts, hard times, simpler times, and times when people were just different. They had many years of experience before I came along and I really benefited from all of that!

What a beautiful story. So much love. So sad about Brenda. I love that you share these wonderful stories with us. I can relate to you on so many levels. My parents both worked full time. My dad was a fireman, so gone for days, and my mom had to leave really early to commute to work, so I had a bedroom at my grandparents who lived one block away, and stayed there during the week, and went to my mom and dad on weekends. My mom would come and eat dinner at my grandparents every weeknight, and I had 2 houses full of love and friends , and never felt like it was anything but normal. I think the experience it made me a more flexible person as an adult.

God was with your Papaw (spelling?) in every prayer. He was just waiting until the right baby girl came along! What a wonderful life history you have been blessed with. 🥰
I'm so glad you're sharing this history.
I'm 58. My mom was born in Atlanta in 1929. My (great ) Aunt Peggy and (great) Uncle Toots, born in the early 19 teens were the closest I had to grandparents on Mom's side. I would listen to their stories, expressions, and philosophies and I learned so much from them even though my time with them was short.
Mom and Maremama (my grandmother who passed before I was born) lived and worked in the mountains of Cherokee in the 50's. The stories mom could tell about that!
All this to say I miss them and agree with you that so much language and flat out right vs. wrong teaching is being lost.
The first video I heard of yours was your sharing of the southern vocabulary that folks nowadays just don't know... and I felt like I was back there with my family again.
    Thank you.

Beautiful story, you are absolutely blessed to have so much love! My Mom & Dad are 19y apart in age- Mon was 27 when I was born & Daddy was 46. Up until the day Daddy passed apx 3 years ago, people consistently assumed that he was my Grandfather or my stepdad. I didn't understand why people assumed that when I was younger as I couldn't see that age difference. They were hopelessly devoted to each other, loved each other dearly and adored me - that's all that I saw. I can understand why they wanted you to call them Mamaw & Papaw. You knew they were your parents and you knew that you were thoroughly loved. People that don't have the advantage of living with an older parent don't see what they miss out on- the stories, the values, the history you learn from someone who has lived it, the morals- not to mention the strong sense of self that they bless up with... It's different from other families, but I really believe that people like us got blessed with a little bit extra. I grew up with grandparents born in the very late 1890s & 1900s, the other side grandparents both in the early 1920s, Dad in 1930 & Mom in 1949. The enrichment from all of that life experience that I received - the appreciation of the music throughout all of those decades most especially & the history, some of which is long forgotten & left out of books & school curriculum for newer things- I wouldn't trade that for anything at all. Thank you for sharing your adoption story with us we all know that it's scary to open up sometimes, & it's appreciated 😁❤️

Yours is such a beautiful story. I love it. I lived next door to my Granny until her death. I was 15 years old at that time. She is the only one of my grandparents that I was lucky enough to know. All the rest had passed away by the time I was born except for Granny's mother in law. Everyone called her 'Little Grandma' because she was not even 5 feet tall. Little Grandma passed away before I was even a year old, so I remember nothing about her.
Sounds to me as if you were a very loved child. I'm happy that you were so loved!

I just love your story and everything about it! Thank you for sharing💛btw your channel is the only one I will allow the commercials to play please hear the laughter as I truly am a commercial non-lover 🤣that’s how much goodness you bring to this YT world.
God is truly so Good and such a blessing to hear of how he has blessed you and your loved ones. From my heart to your God given parents sorry don’t want to butcher the spelling 😊of what you call them…they should be proud to know they truly did so good with you and honored the gift that God blessed them with when he guided you to them. Your spirit knew and I believe that’s why you always wanted to go home with them. As you mentioned your true mom couldn’t have kids anymore so in God’s way he gifted your family, sorry for the long comment just such a beautiful story and I love your comments at the end. The values I can see you were well loved with is just warming to the soul.
My grandparents passed when I was very young but still left an impression of those old fashioned wholesome values (along with some tough mindset as I feel that generation was faced with tremendous world changes) and I have always loved to learn from every generation but especially from our elders. I share in wanting to carry these values forward but I wasn’t able to live it daily like you so I thank you for sharing as I try in my own way of whatever I have learned to try and pass down these values to my daughters. Many blessings to you 🙏🏽

Aww, you are so sweet! Thank you so much for watching and for all of your kind words! ❤️ God blessed me beyond measure. I am forever grateful to Him for giving me to Mamaw and Papaw and for His continued blessings! I've been with my now husband since I was 14! We're highschool sweethearts and each other's one and only everything! Papaw passed away one month after Josh and I started "dating". I've always said that Papaw made sure Josh came intoy life before he passed away! Before, and as, Mamaw was passing away, she said many times that she didn't have to worry about me because she knew Josh would take care of me and he sure has! So I have been wayyyy blessed by God in my life here on Earth!!
I'm sorry about the commercials! I hate commercials too. Unless they're Super Bowl commercials lol. Neither my husband or myself like sports, (I'm grateful he's into video games and not sports games haha), so IF we watch the Superbowl, we actually fast forward through the game to watch the commercials and the half time show! Lol 🤣 I thought the ads just played either at the beginning where you could click "skip" or that they played at the end and you could just leave and go on to the next video. I'm not trying to earn a living or anything like that here. It was so weird because someone sent a "Super Thanks" donation to me on one of my videos the other day! I guess it's like a donation for liking the video? Or for supporting the creator? I didn't even know what that was! I felt really bad because someone just gifted that money to my video! I'm just happy they watched as I attempt to let Mamaw and Papaw and their wisdom and lessons live on!
IF I ever get any sort of compensation from TH-cam my plan is to save it up and invest it back into my mission to share Mamaw's and Papaw's wisdom and my Appalachian culture. Like software for editing, etc.
Thanks again for watching and commenting and being so supportive and kind to me! I truly appreciate it! ❤️

Your so lucky to have had your great grandparents for so long.
My dad's parents passed before I was born.
My mom's parents were alive and my great grandmother was still alive. Great grandmother passed when I was 2 yrs old. My grandfather passed before that, I was 5 mths old.
My grandmaw passed when I was 9 yrs old. Drunk driver hit her while she was crossing the road. That was really difficult.
My Dad was in WW2. He too carried a piece of shrapnel in his back. That was when the Germans were shelling them with 88 mm tree bursts.
It eventually moved to his spine a few months before he passed away.
I get my twang from my dad.
My mom would try to get him not to talk so hill billy but it did work.

What a wonderful gift you had. Can you do at least one weekly? Maybe someone will see it and change their ways. Can you not have children?

I've been posting videos everyday! 😊 My husband and I chose not to have children. Neither one of us wanted children to be honest and I have a ton of health issues so we just didn't have any. Also, I'll be 38 in March so I'm pretty much past the point of having them anyway. ❤️

Iva does it help you if we watch the commercials all the way through? I HATE commercials but I’d do it for you ❤

OMG! Honestly I have no idea! I thought it was just an ad you could click out of at the beginning or something that played at the end! I'm sorry! Commercials suck!

@@Iva.the.Southern.Appalachian I heard another TH-camr say that if we watch the commercials all the way through then you get paid more. I hope you get a little reimbursement for your time and energy - I know it’s pennies but every little bit helps.

@@iHeartAmySue Well I did not know that! I really appreciate you, seriously,. You are so kind and sweet to me! ❤️ Definitely don't feel like you have to watch the commercials though. Commercials really do suck!

That is such a touching story and I'm so glad you told it! Someday I'll share my younger son's adoption story but I don't want to take anything away.
God bless you, and your Mammaw and Pappaw.
Your Pappaw's faith and patience is inspiring and encouraging to me, because I haven't gotten my little girl, yet, and I'm in my 50's now. I tend to think that because I'm a woman, it's too late now. (My husband became a father again at 62 years old and an adoptive father at 76 years. There's a bit of an age gap between us. - - 31 years)
And perhaps you shouldn't give up on children of your own either if that's the prayer of your heart.
    💜🩷🩵💛
A lot of the old stuff is lost every minute... I swear it's goes faster and faster.
As the baby of elders, you are the torchbearer of values and the keeper of traditions, much as my older son is.
