The 72 is one of the most beautiful bikes Harley has ever made. The EVO is such an awesome motor for that size bike, it sounds awesome, it’s indestructible, it makes plenty of power (1200 anyway). It’s such a great package. I hope to have one in my stable someday.
Love my 72...yes it's small but that's what I like about it. I have a bad back with nerve damage and I sometimes lose feeling in my leg. You can hold up this bike with one leg and one arm. That's why its awesome.
I love my 72 and travel everywhere with it , I just carry extra fuel bottles and honestly haven’t had to use them once ! We live in mass. And we travel to upper VT ., NH. ect. And I also do highway and have never had wheel wobble or any problems at 80mph. I will never get rid of it : ))
Oh yes, LOVE my 72 also grew up in LA in the 70s so you needed the thinner bikes to lane split, and yes i also carry a gallon of fuel in my saddle bags, also have a 3.2 gallon tank that will be painted in the style that it came with, gotten sooooo many "damn nice bike" 😅 yea✌️
I've got a 73 shovelhead super glide custom that was my dad's. That bike is built too buddy. I remember helping my dad put it all together just the way he wanted it as a teenager.

My own opinion, Sporty's are freakin fun to ride, picked up a 91 1200 6 yrs ago, good on hi-ways but main back roads, like 301 or route 60 in central Florida, more balls than a pawn shop window, great for tight turns, a gr8 bike all around.
Man 301 would be great to ride on, but I feel that with as many stupid drivers as I see on there these days (like around the Villages) it would be a death sentence 😂
I've had two Sportsters, the first an '84 candy plum xlh 1000 iron head and a '93 scarlet red Evo 883. I put 16" apes on the "93 and loved them, would probably go with 12" or 14" on the next one, 16" are a little much to me. But, even though the Sportster, especially the 883, is a smaller bike I think that they are one of the best looking when your riding one. That tank style when you look down on it and the air cleaner knocking at your knee give it an old school classic hot rod look! It's hard to beat in my book!
I love these and the 48's too. They are my favorite evolution Sportsters. I think the old 900 iron head Sportsters are the most beautiful of all Sportsters. 👍😊

72 is about the chopper riders in LA not the year... and AMF made all the cool harley looks even if they broke lots lol... without AMF no harley today!
I don’t really understand why everyone complains about the gas tank on the sportsters, I rode one for 6 hours one day and I went to fill it up and it didn’t need it, maybe I just didn’t push the bike very hard to use more gas idk
You know that the signal light is tied directly to the bottom of that left and right mirror don't you?, If it gets too lose the signal light will come off and flop around going down the road and then how annoying would it be?
Anyone who likes a 72 will LOVE the old style Dyna Wide Glide. It’s like a 72 on Steroids. Can grab a used one now for really cheap instead of buying a new sportster.
