Not to be that guy but I love dogs to bits but there's just no way we will really understand why they do what they do, we can study dogs and interpret our way of understanding why they do it but I doubt that's why it's actually done it's not like we can ask them.
Everybody is saying she’s doing it to thank her or to “call for her pack” due to wolf instincts. But since it’s towards the end of the meal isn’t it probably her way of saying “mooooooooaaaarrrr”? I wouldn’t be surprised if she fed her treats after doing her little howl, so she keeps doing it for more food.
I noticed she used to do it before eating when she was younger and then switched to doing it after. So the roar probably came from the instinct to call for a pack, but then as it noticed the owner found it cute, it became a good way to yell for more. That's my two cents anyway. :P
@Voltaic Fire Actually you're quite wrong. Corgis are a Spitz breed, and so retain more wolf than all other domestic breeds. You can see it clearly in the markings and muzzle shape.
@Voltaic Fire You're most welcome 😊 It can be surprising to learn just how many breeds are Spitz. Pomeranians, Chow, Samoyed, Corgi, Shiba Inu, Husky, Malamute, German Shepherd, etc. All of them retain more wolf characteristics. Interestingly, there's also a health association with the wolf shape. The closer a dog is to that shape (pointed muzzle, triangular ears, long curved brushy tail), the more robust their health. It's also associated with intelligence. IOW, if you really love the unique intelligence and resilience of canines, always stick to the wolf shapes. They will challenge you, and wear you out ... but that's really the point, isn't it. Who wants a companion that behaves like a cushion.

I put a doggy litter box on my outside patio and the first night he was in the kitchen and we hear a yodle then again and we looked he needed to go to the bathroom it took him 2 days to potty train smart as a whip. It's just they know how to communicate with almost their own language. So everytime Gizmo needed to go to the bathroom he'd yodle and outside of that not once in 21 years he just passed.
