Honestly true stalker feels like.. well true stalker with the exception of a few things 1. as you said the ending is just kinda.. yeah. I don't know how to feel about the ending(s) to be honest. Like i get what it's going for but it feels kinda rushed compared to the first 5 or so chapters (or whatever number it goes up to, its been a few months tbh) and then ****MAJOR SPOILERS FOR ANYONE WHO HAS NOT PLAYED, AGAIN MAJOR ASS SPOILERS QUIT FUCKEN READING********** but to continue on 1 the death of axe was.. yeah, kinda part of the issue, like part of me says it was handled well another part of me feels like there should have been more after his death, but instead it just kinda feels shoehorned in and then your playing as the military for like the last chapter or two 2. the other main gripe i have with true stalker is the Alife. The mutants respawn way to fast in the exact same spot, they barely wander, etc. And the alife / STALKERS themselves while are great and feel polished, they also have there Alife butchered to shit where most npc's do not wander and do not respawn, eventually leaving the game just an empty running simulator with you running into the exact same mutants in the exact same spots. those two thing's aside though 10/10 mod, we need more true stalker lol (also kinda convinced they either cut content or planned on adding more but i never looked at the code, just basing this off of the numerous routes we have access to but then get told you aren't allowed to go there yet.. only to never use those routes)
what bothered me is, that the respawn of Animals was bit tedious at times.. ( yes im looking at the tushkanos in the cordon especially ) though what i liked alot was the Shared Cache across all Levels. Yeah the Ending was... wierd at times and gave more questions than answers but overall i enjoyed it actually
tushkanos are nothing, I had to deal with the bloodsuckers respawning in army warehouses twice, and I haven't even left the map, the start of the next quest must've respawned them, lmao
I've always had this mod in my periphery ever since the glowing reviews of it on the STALKER subreddit (you know you cant get us idiots there to agree on the same thing). The addition of the sexy UI and interesting models and generally things not yet seen in usual STALKER mods/Anomaly spinoffs, True STALKER always seemed like worth a shot. Well, Wavey, thanks for putting some hype and caution to my initial presumptions about this game. I'm excited to play it too, and I'm thankful that my expectations have been tempered by your spoiler free review. Appreciate the great vids as always, man.
Ahhh, here we go. *Grabs the popcorn.* Side note, but although the writing for True Stalker is terrible... It did open me up to other (better) story-based standalone mods. I hear Incubator and its sequel Dreamcatcher are really good. But right now I am enjoying Wind of Time. It's a story mod that does present choices, and while it does have a few select essential characters, they aren't as egregious or numerous as they are in True Stalker---doesn't feel as railroady either. Incubator, Dreamcatcher, and Wind of Time. True Stalker wishes it was these. I'd recommend them.
@JohnPeacekeeper Stalker Incubator does suffer from a canon bad ending for your main character if you care about that. But after playing Dreamcatcher the canon ending of Incubator does make sense.
interesting scoring, I never really use number scales but when asked my go to is 2 points in each category of Gameplay Story Audio Graphics Aesthetics You are the first person I see actually using Aesthetics as a category though so that's cool as hell
I like that set of categories! The way I did mine was making sure that I covered the things that I thought really make the entirety of the product. But the numbering was just some silly thing I came up lol.
I told you, but it seems you forgot, to try the gauss rifle in the mod, its in a stash above the crashed chopper and the village with the trader and can be obtained from a dead monolith memeber as one of those dead caches. Its a semi auto gauss and I loved using it in the last lab chapter :D, at least some fun in the endgame
The video I've been waiting for! Like You said, the end of Axe's story was frustrating as f*ck. I'm glad we kinda had the same overall score for this game, but I went with a range between 60-70. Anyways, for a first review on this channel, this turned out completely fine, and I'm here for the next one! Dr. Prof., Mr. Journalist Wavey! Cheers👋
My honest opinion: True stalker leaves much to be desired.. it is called ytue stalker, yes, but missing jsut about everything functions wise.. it leans on gunslinger, that's basically it. The way to explain it to others would be... Imagine SoC or CoP with really good graphics, and missing basic features such as Artifact transmutation.. startinf faction, loadouts... There's no thing new here in way of gameplay features... Basically if youre a fan of Graphics, you'll enjoy it but it's missing many basic features to be call a stalkrr game
i give this game a 50, the fact that stalker do not recognise you being overequiped on weapons, armor and personal firepower and the easy it seems to knock out my character who's using an exosqueleton, just, leaves a bad taste on my mouth, i could easily blast trough all the content with my gear, but game decided, "FUCK YOUR GEAR AND GET STUCK ON bad scripted cinematics"
@@WaveysGamingAdventure being honest, this is the first stalker side game that i actually got dissapointed by how much shit you have to deal with, even fucking radiophobia was a better experience than this.
I loved the story and gameplay around Axe and was also immensely frustrated by how his story ended. Currently I have to push myself through the rest. This is such an odd decision by the developer.
reinstalling openal doesn't workThat's been said for years, even after installing it with the normal, fresh stalker games. I even have the regular cop, and it won't work with certain mods; it will give that sound error, like remake the highest former hd mod doesnt work on win 10 for me with cop/yet realism mod works
I tried it, it looks good and the UI is nice. Played it for about 6 hours and didn't encounter any roaming A-life and then put it away :( So if you're expecting typical Stalker randomness, this might not be what you're looking for.
there is no a-life in this mod which definitely doesn't make it a "true" stalker. Locations are empty, nothing is happening. Also the story is cringe. But maps, interface and graphics are quite good
Anomaly is a good and easy to install start - but I didn't play True Stalker. I personally have not the time for gamma, messing with mods, mod manager, overcome problems etc. etc.
First time? Honestly I'd probably tell you to play the original games first... they are a bit dated but they're still good. Between Anomaly and True STALKER tho, probably Anomaly.
I wouldn't necessarily call cutting the A-Life out of STALKER + slapping the Witcher 3 type UI on a dated engine in a mod with a shіttу storyline "by far the highest quality", but to each their own, I guess 🤷🏻♂️
What I missed in this mod is that there are no big firefights. You have all of this gear, huge amount of gear stashed, and you fight maybe three dudes at a time. Really unsatisfying. I still enjoyed it
The ending left a really bitter taste in my mouth. This series was super enjoyable to watch, keep up the great work Wave!!

Look at our wavey boy becoming a veteran enough to do a stalker review.
😁 look at me

With all they did to it, it really is worth a play
Would love to see this kind of content review for other major mods for Stalker. More so the story driven ones rather than the modpacks for anomaly

Definitely
I have Winds of Time next up on the list
totally agree with you 😂
Spatial Anomaly is one of the best story mods out there, cant recommend it enough
@@Batard42069 Oh yeah! I still gotta check it out

I hope True Stalker 2 will solve some of the problem in the first one and adds actual A-Life
A actual A-Life would breathe a lot of fun into this mod
Rest assured - there won't be any TS2.
Aside from my opinions on the mod, I just wanna say Ill forever have cemented memory of your outro wallpaper and lofi song. Freakin love that.
Ha! Glad you like it
I have now heard of true stalker
he played it check it out

The underground levels were the best part of the mod. I do hope they continue, I would love to get vengeance on that teleporting jackass.
Yeah love the review, keep it coming!

Cool review. Also would you mind telling us what mods are on the list for future videos?
I’m looking to play Winds of Time next, but idk if I’ll do review videos for mods I’ve already played
So weird to see a normal looking area [the lab] in Stalker.
One point for the UI, it all looks nice but you can't really tell ammo types apart in your inventory.
Right, there’s things to like and things not to like
Do you suggest any Reshade preset or addon to make the game more dark and with less oversaturated colours?

If there's an ending where we kill the baldy in the secret lab maybe that's a good ending
Things happen in the end, but not quite all you’d hope

Not so true to me😅
they named this "true" stalker, but it's just a linear knockdown simulator..
Should I play this or Stalker anomaly for my first time playing stalker ever?
Anomaly is a good and easy to install start - but I didn't play True Stalker. I personally have not the time for gamma, messing with mods, mod manager, overcome problems etc. etc.

Play original trilogy first
@@TragicNebula For your first time ever you shouldn't play a mod at all, you should play Shadow of Chernobyl with ZRP.
This is by far the highest quality Stalker mod ever made, for those wondering.
I'd have to agree. Stable, runs well, and visually it's the best I've seen stalker look.

Heh we've played PLENTY of Gamma. But I do have a stream upcoming where I'll pick it back up
It was interesting to watch, had some good moments, but not really a stalker game.
is true stalker mod a standalone mod? Do I need the base game to install it?
Entirely stand-alone
Running marathon all cros the maps is so anoying. so no , for me. Edit : i play it and its realy worth the story.
I would like to ask for stalker Dreamcatcher series if you of course can good sir 😉
@rangerpyron You kind of need to play Incubator to fully understand Dreamcatcher though.
Will do just give me some time haha
good review way better than that one guy play this mod for like hour then make a vid to talk crap about it because the developer is from russia :))
Is this game has free roam or linear?
Technically both
You *can* take odd missions from traders and screw around in between main missions.
But the actual story is linear.
yeah those scripted knockdowns sometimes made me mad...
Just alwaaaayyyss at times where I know it’s coming and i can’t doing anything about it lol
What I missed in this mod is that there are no big firefights. You have all of this gear, huge amount of gear stashed, and you fight maybe three dudes at a time. Really unsatisfying. I still enjoyed it
Yeaah the action is a little lighter in this one
still a better review than some guy shitting on it cuz its made by russians not to mention he stopped playing when he found out there was no A life
