This particular video (at least to my understanding), was showing how the lack of unity in Africa was how those demons were able to exploit & recruit smaller nations to join forces with them so they could finish out their diabolical plan to rip Africa of ALL her resources while creating division amongst her children.
How many people would have thought of themselves as African in this period? How widely understood was it that Africa was a continent with any kind of shared identity? I find it hard to believe that it would have occurred to most people to think of themselves as African until much later so expecting them to unite against outsiders seems entirely misplaced. Colonolisers clearly exploited this highly effectively
This is what is taught to Africans in primary and secondary school and is usually a source of much strife considering contentious issues like the subsequent unequal land allocation and power sharing in post-colonial governments still exist. Most African countries call it Collaboration. These subsequent post-colonial governments, some existing to this day, are composed of remnants of these collaborators, whose beneficiaries, now political and business dynasties are some of the wealthiest families today. I am surprised foreigners never learn this. You may have learnt that the Mau Mau were fighting for the independence of Kenya, a nationalistic retelling of the real story. In reality, they were fighting for their fertile highlands which the British had cordoned off for themselves, to grow cash crops like tea and coffee for export and unironically named them, the central highlands. The newly renamed white highlands belonged to the Nandi you mentioned . They then confined the Kikuyu who owned these lands to concentration camps and had them wear wooden blocks of identification while travelling in and out of these camps. Dedan Kimathi, the leader of the Mau Mau had a terrible death, betrayed by collaborators whose descendants continue to prosper to this day.
Europeans used this strategy all over the world, not just Africa. Same strategy in America and Asia. Blaming diversity is a weak argument in every situation, b/c national identity did not exist anywhere at the time of European colonialism, not even in Europe. For a weaker kingdom to use foreign military aid was also a normal thing at that time. In fact the practice dates back more than 2000 years. Furthermore, Europeans took advantage of the strife amongst ethnic groups and broke many treaties from Africa to America
Colonialism in Africa is unique, there were huge net benefits for many tribes and the continent on a whole. It's hard for us as descendants of slaves to understand.
If you're real and look at the history, you can understand that but alot of us want to overlook certain things that were going on on the contitent before colonizers arrived..
Has anything changed since then? The same ahit is happening in present day. Majority countries that were colonized has developed a way of organizing to protect themselves and countries. They united and build one military to ensure that colonization of their people never again attempted without a serious fight. Africa just still fighting each others and still laying red carpet dor their colonizers.
At the end of the day you can see its the same problem we facing nowadays the melanated has a problem sticking together no matter how difficult the situation is
Thanks for this, looking at ECOWAS I can see the same folly being made by current African states, may be someone should send this vid to the heads of those governments to reflect on.

THE FUTURE OF A PEOPLE Africa has over 3000 tribes, each with its own language, names and unique indigenous knowledges. It's very important for each tribe to carry out their education in their local languages, with collaboration with adjacent tribes, that's the meaning of Total Liberation. Africa must address the issue of Education, Religion, Language and Personal Names. Education should be relevant to the Africans in the fast changing world, which will only be achieved by educational instructions being carried in mother tongues to University level. If you give someone education in a foreign language, then somewhere in that person's psychology you are telling them that they were born inferior! Knowing other languages, as a second language later is a good empowerment tool. Names are a connection to the Ancestors and to the future generations that will be born, when the current generation has become Ancestors.
That gives no excuses to the unusual and intense treatment of abuse that followed for centuries up to now. And colonization was planned in the Berlin Conference with no African leader in attendance. Africans need to unite and stop allowing outsiders to have access to us and what belongs to us and Europeans need to do something with their feelings of hatred towards black people and obsession with taking what they have no business taking.
The irony is wild because it's still happening till this day, the situation in Congo persistent because of African leaders who continue to collaborate with the west to exploit that place
Wow, this is one of the best videos you've done in a long time. This really is very scholarly and I think you probably broke the code. That wasn't really hidden but people don't speak of. This same technique was also used with the british conquest of india and to a lesser degree north america. Divide and conquer. This is one reason I postulate that Africa was never truly colonized because very few Europeans ever stepped foot on the continent. So how do you colonize a place when you do not? I'd have your own people move there( with the exceptions of Southern Africa and Kenya) few parts of the continent saw large scale Dorian settlement. They basically exploited old rivalries and old wounds. For ancient enemies to be used by them to conquer the leasing people of a specific region very similar to Coronado and the Aztecs... i want to be resentful...but like you say there was no own Africsnism then... and it's hard to tell someone that your current oppressor is better than this white stranger coming with gifts. I debate with my West African friends. Particularly one from Ghana who is from the Ashanti. As they were very complicit in the slave trade and did not stop until the British determined. It was a moral eviland also contrary to the economic goalsand had to even start a war with the British, which they ultimately lost. Over the right inability for them to continue selling slavesand enemies of the ashanti empire. The traffic irony is ridiculous which lead to our being kidnapped and sent to Americas.😢
This is the paradox of Africa, is it is made up of different people and cultures competing against each other, but the Europeans only saw them as one people, black people. The irony is, it took a united Europe together with African allies to colonize a divided Africa. It may take a united Africa to shake off this stranglehold of colonization.
11:35 if the video ain't saying it I'm saying it. They couldn't have colonized Africa without African assistance😂. They simply didn't have the numbers.
Nothing new. All is fair in love and war, they say. It happens in most all wars. It's called divide and conquer. It's also why there are laws against treason.
Once again. Kingdom of Kongo capital was in Angola 🇦🇴 (San Salvador). This is origins of the “Bakongo” people who expanded into western portions within todays DR congo.
Askaris were black troops who fought for European nations in East Africa. It's now a derogatory term for someone who is not true to his word & a sellout.
Did any of the lesser known African groups get what they wanted out of signing the treaties? It seems to me that the lesser African powers that signed treaties just ended up dissolved. And yet, as you pointed out, it's a tactic that Europeans repeated constantly throughout the continent to much success. Did the lesser African powers just lack the foresight and got outplayed because they thought they were getting a leg up over their rivals, or did they sign treaties with full awareness of what it would eventually mean? And if they knew what would happen, but felt they just didn't have much of a choice but to sign whatever treaty was presented, then we do kind of end up back where we started, with the Europeans arriving and waving their large tech advantage around, albeit with some "carrot or stick" diplomacy thrown in.
If a larger group was enslaving your people and constantly raiding you and causing starvation amongst your people, u would accept "help" even if its from a European to stop this.
Europeans were notorious with indigenous groups on both sides of the Atlantic as shrewd people who went back on their treaties. The “stronger” tribes spoken about in this video were already affected by European colonialism & technology. Europe was trading weapons for people since the 1500s. He states 1850 at the beginning but by then tribes in Africa knew what rifles were & who Europeans were. Part of making the hostile environment/& weapons dealing were (& are) big colonial methods of extracting/killing off indigenous populations.
Well, the fact is also, Black Americans could have help slavery continue in America as my Black Americans were helping the confederate army fight the unionist in the civil war. Fortunately, the confederate army and their recuited Black soldiers lost the war.

Without a doubt one of your best videos. African colonialism is just too complex to use a simple "good vs evil" or "Black vs White" framework to understand it. It's because people still adhere to this framework that there's so much confusion and arguments over who wronged who. The first step for Africans and the diaspora to do is to acknowledge the "Afro-European" Colonization and then try and learn from it, as ethnic rivalries are still present to this day in Africa. Now this isn't to say that some Africans haven't already acknowledge this, it's that this level of information needs to be standardized in every school.
Yes the title was confusing until the end. "Afro-European Colonization of Africa" How about the Tribalization of Africa and then the European Colonization ❓ I'm grateful to God that I am not Continental African‼️
I wouldn't say the problem is diversity. A diverse group of people can still stand united, especially against a common enemy. The problem, I think, is the division, and by extension the inequality that probably created that division I don't know much about these cases specifically but like other people are saying in the comments here, this sort of thing has happened repeatedly throughout history; divided people are easy to manipulate and defeat
When you talk about dynamics like this you have to be more aware about how things get used and manipulated. You say nuance and other people will tell the story that Europeans didn't olonize Afrika. And be sure to keep in mind you are learning about this from hunters story of the kill. Not the lions story of a murderer.

Your voice is so soothing 😌 ❤
Do a video about Africom and how African Americans are currently engaged in military adventures on the continent.

About the end of your video. I understand the study of history is to correct mistakes and strategies... I do not make the same mistakes again...
We need to talk, about the hidden WW kingdom of YahuDah
Have you done a video on the Native American slave trade?
You definitely voted for the rightwing white supremacist klan..you do know that it was mostly genocide main reason slaves were in the usa..you didn't pass the 5th grade..hmm
It's an accurate History that I've long known. You see the same reality in Western nations.

I don't see why this is surprising. It's not that different to how the romans overtook Gaul.
At last someone has seen what really happened. Europeans could have never colonise Africa without African help. Congratulations.
Or indian or the Americas... so it's larger than one video.
The irony is wild because it's still happening till this day, the situation in Congo persistent because of African leaders who continue to collaborate with the west to exploit that place
@@yangasidziya3245 Correct. It’s called neo colonialism and it thrives in Africa. Not only Congo, I could name at least a dozen of them unfortunately.
This doesn't let white people and others off the hook for what they did and are doing.
Add descriptions tou your videos!!!!
You came correct
Don't forget who processed and controlled the weapons of mass destruction of that age. Think about it, Peace
Those that don’t learn from history…
11:35 if the video ain't saying it I'm saying it. They couldn't have colonized Africa without African assistance😂. They simply didn't have the numbers.
Nothing new. All is fair in love and war, they say. It happens in most all wars. It's called divide and conquer. It's also why there are laws against treason.
@JavanSion the funny stupid idea that Europe with their pew pew had the numbers to route an entire continent like Africa

Good. Just like here in the states, a Sambo black person is one you stay away from.
Ethiopia is the first African nation to help Europeans in the scramble for Africa.

Their using the same tactic today
Nothing has changed

Indeed. Unfortunate and amazing at the same time. Amazing how i could have guessed.
So there is our answer right there. African must turn their diversity into a strength, not a weakness. It's been done before
The fact is that Europeans would never have been able to take Africa without African collaborators.
Well, the fact is also, Black Americans could have help slavery continue in America as my Black Americans were helping the confederate army fight the unionist in the civil war. Fortunately, the confederate army and their recuited Black soldiers lost the war.
Now Morden Day Kenya tent to colonize haiti.. on behalf of the Americans … the irony
Can you teach us more about what happened to your people during the trans Atlantic slave trade?
And what happened to your people mid to late 19th century
@mongaemongo1613 Are you a hue-man? I only ask because you use the term "Your People." All hue-mans come from out of the Origin of hue-mans Black, Melanated, Africans. However, if you are not Hue-man. I can teach you about "Your People." Imagine That
I’m not an american therefore I am comfortable in differentiating between calling someone or people “africans” compared to calling people by their household names.
"Afro-European Colonization of Africa"
How about the Tribalization of Africa and then the European Colonization ❓
I'm grateful to God that I am not Continental African‼️
I wouldn't say the problem is diversity. A diverse group of people can still stand united, especially against a common enemy. The problem, I think, is the division, and by extension the inequality that probably created that division
I don't know much about these cases specifically but like other people are saying in the comments here, this sort of thing has happened repeatedly throughout history; divided people are easy to manipulate and defeat
bring it out
I agree

And be sure to keep in mind you are learning about this from hunters story of the kill. Not the lions story of a murderer.
