    I think whats good to note for people is that Australian wages are much higher on average... I don't know what Molly makes but when I did cafe jobs in Australia I made $30 p/hour (£17.22) and in the UK the most I have made in hospitality outside of London is £9.50 ($16.55) so that is a big difference in wages. Cost of living is obviously important as well so I cant speak on what molly pays in rent but wages being so high definitely helps balance it out and making it an affordable place to live mostly. (I do know fuel is a lot cheaper than the UK)

      I literally came here to ask what the average wage working in cafes/bars would be so thank you! It’s good to see the comparison of how much you would expect to earn and how much you can expect to spend in general ☺️

      @MollyThompsonx_  ปีที่แล้ว +8

      Yesss this is definitely worth noting!! The wage in the cafe is definitely more than what I’d be paid doing the same job back at home for SURE!! This is about right as my hourly pay 🥰

      @@jessicavernon8241 Don't forget there are farmers markets and Victoria markets where you and friends can buy in bulk then divide the produce.

      @@JL-zj4qt Yeah this was in QLD 2012-2016, very fortunate to make that much but I do know a lot of my friends who had similar wages in hospitality.. and if they made less they were usually in jobs that gave them extra for weekends/late hours/ public holidays which my job didnt.

    Be good to add your part of the weekly rent to the total to get a more accurate idea
    Most other youtubers add the rent to their "what l spend" videos

      Ah amazing I’m so glad you found it helpful!! It’s deffo worth noting that the pay over here is a lot better per hour than what it is in the UK so while it’s expensive initially it does sort of balance itself out!! You’re gonna have the BEST time eeek!! 💖

    Hi, love your videos and because of your content I'm going Thailand this summer. I have a question about lay overs any advice of flying from thailand to bali (DPS). How do layovers work does the airline transfer your checked luggage to the next flight? this is the stressful part as always paid extra for a direct flight? Thanks and loving the Aussy content.

    That's really interesting, around $350 a week, plus any accomodation. Say that's $50 a night (?), plus the odd unexpected cost or attraction and it's close to $800-000 per week. If you're not working that would get churned up pretty quick. But if you can offset that with 20 hours of work at $25 an hour, that would sustain you here for a while if you came across with savings. Sorry, I just went off on a calculator rant! Enjoy your stay!

    So you need to buy a tram card and it will let you commute around the city but when you go out of the city you must pay for the ticket. Am I getting this right?

    "oh lord, she has "the list" 🤣🤣
    Apparently, men in general, including my dad, don't use shopping lists. Instead, they claim to memorise the few items that are absolutely necessary and then wing it from there, inevitably forgetting one of the "absolutely necessary" items whilst finding a new flavour of Oreos or, in my case, bringing home something Mexican with which we had absolutely no experience previously (Me: "What is THIS? Male: I dunno, I thought we'd try it. Me: *furiously searches google to figure out what it is, whether it is edible, and how to attempt to prepare same for consumption, all the while cursing the end of the roll of toilet paper). Yet, if I am present and produce a "list" (from my phone. Paper lists? in 2023? really, Molly? :)), I get the sigh and the statement above.
