More than sixty years ago my teacher, Mr Smythe, wanted to include this beautiful hymn in school assembly. Nobody wanted to sing a solo. He knew I had a good reading voice, and asked me to read the words. They have been with me ever since. When I visited my daughter's church in the UK, before COVID-19 struck, the musicians played and sang the hymn beautifully. At the end of the service one of the leaders came and sat next to me and asked, "Why are you crying Steve?" I told him how much the words meant to me, they are a gospel in miniature, and then he asked me to tell the whole church. I can't help but cry every time I hear the hymn. Jesus is everything to those who believe on His name.

A lot of the songs on VCY radio..I just feel like being on my face. It's like not being able to stand in His presence but a heart full of... you either know or you don't. Oh the joy that comes with the knowledge we'll be worshipping Him on our face forever and ever one day.

The song was played today at my pastor's wife's funeral. It had always been his favorite him and it became a favorite hymn for the church that he served for 17 years before becoming a district superintendent and then retiring early so that he and his wife and good have time together. They were retired but two short years. She was diagnosed with a nearly untreatable brain tumor. But through it all she remained faithful to God, faithful to her Lord Jesus Christ come up faithful to her husband, faithful to her kids, and faithful to her friends and family of the church. I will not be able to hear this he M again without thinking about Anne's funeral and what we should be looking forward to when our time comes. May we be found faithful may we be found graceful a we be found gritty, may we be found full of gratitude and finish the race.

I just heard this song for the first time Like a couple weeks ago and it absolutely broke me. Literally jumped into my favorite worship hymnal ever. Powerful! Still on repeat! Thank you Jesus! If one rejects Christ, they never knew Him to begin with. This song is my heart cry. To others it is nothing.
Judas knew Christ and later rejected him. Killed himself in a field. Judas seen his face, heard his voice. He forsook the Lord AFTER he knew him. Same with King Saul, he knew the Lord and rejected him unto death. Cain knew the Lord and later rejected him and died in his sins. The doctrine you are declaring is not biblical or sound doctrine. Consider this, one can know Christ, obtain the Holy Spirit and then reject him and die in their sins with the lake of fire prepared for them. A dreadful yet true sound doctrine. 2 Timothy 3:16

Throw out Romans 8, or Jesus’ words in John 10 “they will never perish” and “none can snatch them from my hand.” Have you considered this? I believe you’ve interpreted that passage incorrectly. Even when asking if he was the one who would betray Jesus, Judas said “is it I, Rabbi?” when the others asked “Is it I, Lord?”
Judas never had a saving knowledge of Christ. He saw Jesus as a teacher, not the Christ.

Many bands and solo singers before have sung this hymn, but Audrey Assad just surpasses them all. The instruments don't stand out too much and goes perfectly with the melody and her voice. Beautiful and deep lyrics. But you know what's interesting? How everyone applies their own meaning to these lyrics. There is no real right or wrong, everyone sees something different. God bless everyone and enjoy listening to the song again! (I'm 100% sure you will want to listen it over and over and over again.)

We can boast and be proud in being saved by Jesus’ work on the cross- in fact, it’s the only thing we ought ever to be proud about, because it’s the work that we never did! We are not proud of ourselves, but we boast and are proud of Jesus Christ who has saved us.

I think that unfortunately many modern worship songs are too introverted and too 'soulish', not actually reaching out and praising God for whom he is (although they seem to). This has been one of my favorite hymns since childhood. i'm a pastor's kid and grew up singing this in a presbyterian church (PCUSA). I just recorded an a capella version of this to put on my own baby channel, if you're interested - i'm a classically trained singer but find that much of my training is best put to use in these beautiful old melodies.

I don't know this song, so didn't know a stanza is missing. Seems a lot of that now. Most churches don't sing the second stanza of How Great Thou Art. When thru the woods and forest glades I wander and hear the birds sing sweetly in the trees. When I look down from lofty mountain grandeur and hear the brook and feel the gentle breeze.

When I went to college I had a Caucasian teacher who was racist against Hispanics, ( me being hispanic) that was the first time in my life where I felt what it was like to be on the other side of the spectrum. God is giving me a special interest to research about who are the “Ethiopian Jews” and He is sending me in this amazing journey. You are drawn to the song for one or two reasons, either you don't belong to Christ and he is pursuing you, calling you because it was great love for you. And if you do know him as Lord and savior you are drawn to it because Christ is calling you to a deeper and more intimate relationship with him not just a service relationship but a deep and intimate one. I just heard her for the 1st time today on the Biblical Christian radio. I hope this doesn't go to her head, but that is about the purest voice I've ever heard. What a gift !!!
