I have an extra 300S from great planes that crashed bad. Bought a few metres of covering film and some fibreglass to rebuild the cowling. Your video was very inspiring!
Great video as always. I probably would have used thin ply to strengthen the fuselage instead of the balsa you used, but that’s me ;-) Also I wouldn’t be able to live with the mismatch in covering. My OCD would have made me redo the whole plane 😂
Wow, man.I just learned something new watching you.Repair that wing, thank you.I will use that in the future. The name is Thomaz Brock and I am from Indiana. My club is in Seymour ... I see you fly Futaba... I do also... Its expensive but its reliable.I have a T-8FG Super for my backup and a T-16IZ for my main radio and I got spektrum Dx6 fir bind n fly planes.I dont much mess with foamies anymore tho.
Hello, nice to hear about your setups. I have always used Futaba, but I may switch to a Spectrum im future. Seems like Futaba stuff is getting harder to find. Great to hear about club and planes and such! Awesome!!
I tried some of JB weld Epoxy last year and my wife complained she could smell in her office which is in part of my house. I like Devcon 5 minute epoxy and I had do a Ebay search to find it. Nice rebuild an I hope it fly's as well as it did before! take care Michael
Thanks, ya this stuff does smell. Im in the garage so I get no complaints. I’ll check out the brand you mention, I always like to see what others are using.
I can’t remember, I think it was leftover from some Great Planes CA hinge material I had. I think any CA hinge material is fine. Cutting them yourself is cheaper, but precut hinges are very convenient.
Wow! What a $ saving over the commercal "Sock" I am very happy to learn your hack! Thanks Jimmy BTW, Been using Monokote since 1973. This is a game changer for me!.
0222 in case you don't know, those bends in the pushrod should NOT be there.! this is true regardless of what the kit instructions said. in other words, the installation of a pushrod should not include the use of bends like these. 1545 hardwood equals clear-grained poplar (or pine or spruce).
Problem is that the rudder bottom is high up, so in order to engage it the control rod has to step up. It’s stiff and doesn’t flex so it works well. I agree however that you don’t want any bends if you don’t have to in control rods.
Not anytime soon. I kept the pieces. It would be a major effort. Maybe one day Ill tackle it, but for the time needed I rather build other kits for now.
I see you dont like those super cheap foam wheels that come with kits nowadays. They are disgustingly cheap and every single company uses the damn things they are ubiquitous... Probably spelled that wrong but oh well.
sticks are so much fun to fly! great repair video!
Thanks! yep they are the basic classic rc plane!
bella la tecnica dell'inserto di balsa per irrigidire ottimo lavoro
Thanks! Hope it lasts!
Great repair. The mismatched covering looks fine. Glad you can get that in the air again.
Thanks! And I don’t recommend the Hangar 9 Ultracote… not good in my opinion.
Great repair job James
Thanks!!
Great job. I don’t think I would have thought about the hardwood inserts but I think it’s a fantastic idea. Well done
Thanks!

Thanks! Ya I am not completely happy with the covering . Im going to order the Monokote. Plus that hangar 9 stuff was horrible to use.

Is there a doctor in the house?
Well done 😊
Haha! Thanks
Where do you get the hinges material? Amazing video! Thanks for sharing your experience!

"Like nothing ever happened!" Great job. What materal are you using with the heat iron?
The “sock” is just cut scrap from an old 100% cotton t shirt. Seems to work ok. But have to be careful for sure when using heat
Thanks!!!!

Are you repairing the smoothie?

Change 54 to 54 1/2 😁

Ya, the foam wheels are bad, not my preference. I like the Dubro and Sullivan wheels
