"Geralt leapt from the stone wall into the pit, Aerondight grasped firmly in his hand and advanced on the two creatures of the night as they slashed and bit at each other, almost faster than even he with his Witcher's eyes could keep track of. They fought with a ferocity that despite his decades of experience hunting the fiercest and foulest of monsters known to the continent, he had never before witnessed. As he edged about their battle, he kept his distance and hoped that he wouldn't have to join the fray. This was in vain, however, as Detlaff finally seized the upper hand, sending Regis flying across the courtyard with a kick to the chest. Regis was momentarily stunned, and failed to notice as his foe sprinted toward him, leapt high into the air and, razor sharp claws raised, prepared to deliver a final blow.
But Geralt had seen, and was there to block the blow with his silver sword. Detlaff was in a state of shocked disbelief for a split second, but that was all the time the Witcher needed to throw his opponents clawed hand aside and deliver a slash across his stomach that would have been fatal to a mortal man. Still, it was enough for Regis to regain his footing, seize Detlaff by the throat and slam him to the ground, his own elongated claws ready to plunge into his foes heart.
But he hesitated. Some part of him surely hoped he could yet avoid doing the terrible deed he knew he must do. It was this hope that, as Geralt made to sever Detlaff's head from his body, made Regis raise his hand to stop his blow from falling. But Detlaff was feral with furious rage, and took advantage of the mercy he had been shown. He disappeared in a cloud of red smoke and reappeared behind Regis, slashing at his back and throat and vanishing once more before Geralt could land a blow. He seized Regis by the throat from where he had landed and, with a furious roar and a *_crack_* that split the night, threw him with all his might against the ancient, mouldering stone wall that encircled them. An enormous piece of the wall fell and pinned Regis to the ground, and he moved no more.
He turned to face Geralt, his twisted and inhuman face still alight with animalistic rage. Geralt stared back with a fierce determination, but his gaze faltered for just a moment as he realised that, without Regis, he was very likely about to die. With his friends aid, they had had a chance against this monster, but now... Geralt had never known a Witcher to triumph alone against a higher vampire, let alone one so furiously powerful as Detlaff.
He readied himself to fight, and possibly to die. He thought to himself, _"I love you, Yen. If I die, forgive me."_
    And then the fight began."

The build up with the drums makes this track 10x more enjoyable.

Damn that transition ALWAYS gets me...
I'm like, 'here it comes, here it comes, I'm prepared' but I never actually am...
    Every. Single. Time.

I remember this boss fight as if it were yesterday, the first 5 times I couldn't defeat him, not because it was difficult... but because there was this damned background music that distracted me, so beautiful that I thought more about the rhythm than about the boss's movements !

Played this last night on Blood and Broken bones' grandmaster ursine gear using toxic blood Witcher mutagen, and it took me over an hour, kept dying over and over, finished the fight with no white raffards no swallow left and i couldn't even see the red on my health bar.
