I just love the faces of first timers when Geoff does that last bit. Dive down that rabbit hole--they never disappoint. Their cover of Friends On the Other Side is this year's Halloween song and it's even better than this one. I didn't think that was possible. Just watch your eardrums towards the end. LOL

THE Trifecta of A Capella is, Pentatonix, Home Free and Voiceplay!!! There are others that are good as well, but these 3 are INCREDIBLE!!! Most fans of one, are fans of the others! They each stroke the “feels” in a different way! Don’t ask us who our favorites are because we CAN NOT answer!!! It depends on the day, time and circumstance. Pentatonix’s is very polished, Home Free- you’d like to have a beer with and Voiceplay should be on Broadway!!! Each of their rabbit holes are deep, twisted and overlap to some degree, at times behind the scenes!!!
I'd add Voctave to the list, especially for Christmas songs.

Really enjoyed your reaction! Hoist the Colours will show you the capabilities of all of the members. Also Warriors, Carry On Wayward Son, Go the Distance, and If I Were a Rich Man/Girl. You will not be disappointed.
If you want to do some Halloween, this is the acapella group to check out. This is Halloween, Grim Grinning Ghosts, Friends on the Other Side, Hoist the Colors, etc. Also, Geoff has a few on his personal channel (Headless Horseman and then he just did Monster Mash). They are so fun and live up to their name voice PLAY. One of my personal favs (not halloween) is Mr. Blue Sky. I just love that song and I adore their version.
All of these are totally awesome.
I did somewhere can't remember where found a clip of them doing this live. The band members have changed a little. Earl, with the beard has left the group, his high notes are amazing as is his character voice. J none in the black has joined the navy and came back to do this year's halloween song friends on the other side.
New member is Cesar.
Geoff says he is a baritone who can sing low. He is friends with Tim from home free who has helped him reach the low notes.

If I could give you a thousand likes for this one...I would!!!!! I love all the a cappella groups, but Voice Play is probably my favorite. And this is the song that did it! Geoff's voice just blows me away! They are definitely the theater geeks' group.
I don't even know where to begin on recommendations...all of them!
And be sure to check out Geoff's solo page! Some really fantastic songs! But he also narrates some beautiful short stories, poems, etc. His speaking voice will put me to sleep on a sleepless night!

Check out their cover from Fiddler on the Roof "If I were a rich man/girl" Not only does it transform the song into a total bop, but you get an astonishing view of Geoff's range. (Geoff Castellucci is the bass, and he has a private channel - his halloween release this year is Monster Mash, and it's fabulous.) Layne, the guy with the light up nose (doing Zero from the movie) is the beatbox. Layne arranged this one.

I love these guys and Geoff who is the bass, is my favorite singer. He has his own channel where he sings solo but multiplies himself to sing all the harmonies. It is amazing. You won't ever run out of mind blowing material to react to.
That dude with the low voice is Geoff castellucci. He's a legend in his own right. Check out his solo Acapella covers of "take me home country roads" and "sixteen tons". Imhes the lowest vocal bass living afaik.
For VoicePlay - "If I were a rich man" and "Hoist the colours" come highly recommended.

This is one of their BEST videos, but NONE of their work will disappoint you. I had the great pleasure of seeing them live at the WDW Christmas Party Event circa 2017 or 2018 and I can tell you that they sound JUST this awesome in person.
Granted, there is some post production in the soundtracks for video work, but that's the nature of the art. however, Geoff (the bass) has a 5 octave range that is as smooth and complex as anything I have ever heard even in person.
Layne (the beat boxer) is a childhood friend of his and they have been performing with various friends since Middle school. which is at least 20-30 years.
the Bald man in the red outfit is Eli (Pronounced El-ly)and his usual voice is showcased particularly greatly in Hoist the colors. ( a MUST hear for you and I'd love to see your reaction since SPOILERS it tends to break You Tubers who watch it unprepared and you my friend are unprepared )

The other two members of the group have gone on to other pursuits. J-None (in the black outfit has joined the navy) and Earle has left the group for Real World reasons that remain private although he is still a friend and there is no animosity involved by all accounts.
They have a truly talented new member Caesar De La Rosa who has a particularly flexible sound and have had guest artists filling in for various performances in the last ....year? or so.
All of the group have many more talents than just singing, they tend to handle almost ALL their video production, filming. costuming , costuming, arrangements and other aspects 'in house' and they are AMAZING.
Layne and another former Member Tony Wkam have even started their own production company called Pattycake Productions. Their original videos are top notch and defiantly something you should also check out.

You NEED to check out Geoff Castellucci cover of The Monster Mash! He's not long released it in time for Halloween! But all in all, more of this would be great, VoicePlay, Geoff Castellucci, Home Free (a must!!!) and Pentatonix! Totally love and blown away with a capella groups!
Geoff Castellucci (Oogie Boogie in this track) is an absolute beast. He's one of a few low bass (otherwise known as bass profundo) singers gaining traction on TH-cam. He also does some solo work that you should absolutely check out. Because he has almost a 5 octave range (!), he can sing in a wide range; he uses this to very good effect when he layers himself into 4 or 5 part harmonies with himself. It's not *true* acapella, but it's definitely worth looking into some of his work. I strongly encourage you to try out his version of "Far Over the Misty Mountains Cold (Low Bass Cover)" - I get chills every time I hear it!

Sixteen Tons by Geoff Castellucci is amazing as well.
A good video to hear each one shine is Queen in 5 Minutes. It’s still theatrical, but you can tell how incredibly talented they all are.
If you want live performances, I would suggest Elvira or Road Trip. (I believe VoicePlay posted those performances from their Sing Off tour.)
By the way the song is from the nightmare before Christmas movies, they recreated the Santa scene

Unlike others, I do appreciate PTX and Home Free but VoicePLay are my absolute favourites. Geoff is my hero. For all sorts of reasons. His range is astonishing, and he works contstantaly to enlarge it. It's currently at around 5 octaves. His low bass covers will give you a better idea of his range. And for a great group video do see Hoist The Colours. Group here is Geoff Castellucci, bass, Layne Stein, vocal percussion, Eli (say it elly) Jacobson, the little bald tenor. The other two are Earl Elkins Jnr (with beard) who is not longer with the group, and J.None who left to sing with the navy choir but is currently on leave so appears in their Friends On The Other Side.
Got quite a list for you to write down for songs to check out and these are only some of my favorites of from this group.

Listen more than once. Each time focus on a different level (bass, tenor, etc. ) You will be amazed. Also, watch for the gummy spiders, worms fall out of Geoff's mouth when he talks about snake and spider stew!
Geoff could have a fabulous solo career. His voice has such range and he is able to put so much emotion into his vocals. The group is fantastic. I could listen to VoicePlay, Pentatonix, and Home Free all day. Thankfully, there is no need to select a favorite among them because they all excel in different genres of music. The three groups provide a vocal feast for the ears. BTW the guy with the red nose is their beatboxer. I really recommend Hoist the Colors.

0:56 The frequency response on your headphones should be just enough. Better ones would make it sound better for any music reaction. 2:40 I believe they do synth some of this song. It is still a Capella to me. You will hear the part where it happens. All the rest is strictly them singing. 3:39 Layne (on the right at this time stamp) is the beat boxer. 4:26 Nope. Santa isn't in the group. His was brought in just for his speaking part. Sometimes they use Rachel Potter for her female sound but in other songs. 6:03 Those are their 'charter voices'. These are so far apart from their real singing voices. You will see watching more of their other stuff. 8:24 The main singer is Geoff Castellucci & he does have a unbelievable range. He also has a TH-cam channel & will teach you how to sing just like he does . . . Or as close as Beesley can come. Seriously, you should check him out if you do want to improve your singing. Most times Geoff is kept in the background for his bass. But this was all his to sing. Good reaction. ♪♫ Oogie . . . Boogie . . . Man ♫ *shattering your subwoofer* LOL!!

I would like to recommend Survivor which is a collaboration between Home Free and Voice Play. Both groups are in character which Voice Play is portraying Zombies and Home Free is portraying Hillbillies. You’ll enjoy it and have a good laugh as well.

He showed a good stretch here at the end going from a B4 down to an E1, but another good vid is by Geoff himself covering the Beatle's song Blackbird.
And other gamer themes. Most have no words, but great vocals. With vocals: Still Alive from the game Portal (a whole little skit), My Mother Told Me (Norse saga featured in the TV show Vikings as well as the Assassin's Creed game. Amazing version!), Warriors (Imagine Dragons /League of Legends) not 100% a capella because Layne, the beatboxer plays the holy hell out of a violin.
Others: ACA (for a capella) Top 10 Games, the theme songs to Minecraft and HALO (amazing, and Geoff hits his lowest note yet - B0, only one key from the end of a piano keyboard!). HALO is dedicated to the memory of one of the production crew that died of COVID at age 27. Do listen to the end. You will get a good idea of what kind of people they are.)

If you would like a completely different a capella group, please check out Voctave, an 11 member singing group, and my two suggestions would be their versions of "You Will Be Found", and the Disney Princess medely.

If you're going to start reacting to Voiceplay and/or Geoff, please get some decent over the ear headphones. There isn't a set of earbuds made that can reproduce the notes he can sing at the low end properly.
Geoff, the lead singer, does a lot of solo work. Check out his cover of Blackbird or Ain't No Sunshine or Monster Mash for Halloween.
